Hi and welcome. I always thought anyone who loved Guitar Hero should do it properly ! Personally i'd go for the Squier started pack - the Epiphone is fairly limited in it's tones.

The idea is it regulates how much you can dig into the string and makes you play 'lighter'. That's my interpretion anyway...

I don't think I could do it. I love the fact i've got a few hanging around with different looks, feel and characteristics. Nobody [i]needs[/i] lots, but it's a luxury I couldn't forgo !

It all depends on what you want from the bass. All of the ones you listed will have a good slap tone, which of these to go for is your prerogative.

Hi TheGreek, just to let you know you don't need to format your post to the center . Looks like a nice bass - has a Jaydee vibe to it. Certainly not seen any more on this forum but a few on talkbass, could you be one of the only UK owners ? .

Personally i've played a lot of custom/high end basses and been impressed with them, but not so much that i'd buy one. My Bacchus is of a very high quality and bordering on boutique (but not custom) and 2nd hand would cost about £800 which is crazy (£1500 or so new). There have been very few boutique basses however I've actually been wooed by enough to want one. Perhaps a couple of Vigiers and Roscoe - but not for those price tags ! That said, if I had money to burn i'd be down all the UKs different custom shops getting an order in.

In the last 4 years or so i've done nothing but trades (bar the 2nd hand ABM head for £160), so i've spent absolutely nothing but string money pretty much. If I were to buy now though... Bacchus Venus = £1500 MIM Jazz + pickups = £500 Yamaha RBX = £400 Ashdown ABM300 = £250 Ashdown MAG210 = £180 = £2830 If I factor in all the old stuff I bought that wasn't traded for the above... Squier Bronco = £110 Stagg MB300 = £130 Stagg BC305 = £120 Vintage V940FL = £200 Spector Q6 Pro = £350 = £910

Did they do any Tribute 1500s ? I thought it was the twin pickup versions only. That tells me a L1500 has to be a USA version. It will say Tribute on the headstock if it is one by the way

I missed it last year, but intend to this time ! Didn't get to see any performances in 2008 as I was stuck on the Bass Direct stand whilst ped swanned off for a couple of hours, leaving just me with a dozen custom basses and high end amps, what a pain that was.
