1. Here's a little tune I'd written ages ago but never gotten around to recording.. rendition is not perfect but I have a short attention span ! Inspired by Steve Lawson's Grace & Gratitude. Recorded using Warwick Corvette $$ into Behringer V-Amp and Audicity. All clean apart from solo which has a little reverb on it. There's probably a lot I could do with it to improve it but I haven't the time . Loved and Lost
2. It's preference really, most 5 string basses have narrower spacing than their 4 counter-part. Some people find this too tight and prefer wider spacing to match a 4 string.
3. The RBX is alder like my Jazz.. the Corvette is swamp ash.
4. Not a bad price that - would make a great 2nd bass.
5. My Corvette is lighter than my Jazz/Precision and RBX (I reckon it's about 8lbs)
6. Fender: Reliable, solid, does the job and suits everything. The vanilla of basses, but who doesn't like vanilla ? Musicman: Battling it out with Fender but never winning, high quality basses but perhaps overpriced. Often misjudged as not being versatile. Lakland: Taking Fender's designs and improving the quality, nothing innovative but suits the bassist looking for a super Fender. Ibanez: Some great designs but seems to lack the kudos of the US manufacturers. Mainly played by metallers. Yamaha: Much like it's Japanese brother, Yamaha make some cracking instruments but they lack the history and street cred to be played by many bassists beyond their starter years. Warwick: The sound of wood ? Original designs (let's not mention the Streamer though !) and new models frequently. Chunky neck doesn't suit everyone, definitely a Marmite bass. Sadowsky: For Fender fans with too much cash . Washburn: Nothing wrong with them, good starter basses but I wouldn't be seen dead with one.
7. I didn't like the solid finish ones (Orange/Blue/Gun Metal) but this one in Wine Red looks fantastic. If it was a 5 string and I had the cash i'd be sorely tempted - in fact how much are you after ? You never said
8. Those mods would probably sort it out I think.. shame you had to do them in the first place though !
9. Fret spacing is the same on both of them (34 inch scale basses), it's the string spacing which differs.
10. They were also available with an active preamp option (extra charge), in which case it will be a 2 band MEC preamp.
11. EBS_Freak is quite right, look at the B/E string saddle - they aren't parallel to the through-neck. I can't see any advantage to this..
12. Just re-read this and I thought it was Bass Guitar Magazine not Bass Gear Mag - my mistake
13. I knew a guy who got a degree in Music Technology (played bass too). Couldn't get a job in it and ended up working in IT and as a Forklift driver following that.
14. Watch out for a noisy preamp - otherwise it'll be great.
15. No - the issue is in WHSmith. It's the first copy I've flicked through and decided just not to bother with.
16.
Try this place: http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/
Got mine there too - but I did have to file down the pickup hole for it to fit.

I'm off to NZ.
Thanks Howard, it'll be no surprise to you then that this is how some NZ'ers prefer look at the world:
That map makes everything's proportion look so different ! The UK looks so much smaller than I remember..
18. My opinion - no. I've played 2 and both times been disappointed. They have a somewhat strange preamp, and I got nothing but hiss from the 2 I tried when using each pickup alone. Sure they are single coils but this was more than i'd expect. If you want a bass for tone stick with a Jazz, for looks - then yeah sure a Jaguar. You can easily improve a Jazzes sound by changing the pickups and preamp, this is not so simple on the Jaguar.
19. I think they are pretty much the bottom of the barrel when it comes to bass amps. Quality is not the best and they are quite keen on exaggerating their power ratings and ripping off other manufacturers designs. If it's a 410 takes your fancy save up a bit more cash and get one of these: http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~A...-II~ID~3073.asp
20. Hey wateroftyne - imagine if you didn't like sunburst Precisions with red tort pickguards .
21. That body from one of these right ? http://www.squierguitars.com/products/sear...rtno=0301074506

23. Yuk, i've lost some respect for Musicman after seeing that monstrosity.
24. I've had an eBay item before where I said UK bidders only, yet a guy in Belgium BIN'd it. eBay does hide away the option to force UK only buyers, so it's entirely plausible the Norwegian chappy didn't read any potential auction. Enough of the witch hunting .
