1. Saw 2 of these in Express Music in Solihull, alas they were in the window and I saw them on my way out. Looked nice though - definitely wanted to try one out, maybe next time.
2. Volume/Treble/Mid/Bass, in that order IIRC.
3. Whoa - GAS ! Love those DJ's, they're such a unique take on the Jazz design.
4. I think you may struggle to sell this as one piece without taking a hit on the price. I think you'd definitely get more selling them separately .
5.
I've had a couple of BB614's & the 5-string version is excellent, too. It's an oddity in the budget 5-string world, as the B-string portion of the bridge is extended. So you've got a 34" scale bass with a 35" scale B-string.
Not quite. The extended bridge decreases the break angle of the string over the saddle making it less likely to break. If the B string were a 35" scale it'd be out of tune since the fretboard is spaced for a 34" .
6. Out of interest - do you find your experience of it to be similar to the review ? Out of all the basses i've reviewed it's the only one I wanted to keep.
7. We can see your IP anyway (mods) so we don't need you to post it . Also it looks like you're coming in via a transparent proxy so don't worry about it, i've edited out your IP in the previous post for security.
8. Please stick to bumping no more than once a day. Also if you delete your last bump before posting the next one it'll stop the thread being clogged up with them .
9. I had a BB614. They are great very well made basses that sound great too, the neck pickups does a superb Precision impression. There are plenty of well known players that have used BB's so i'm sure it would be fine in the annual BBC Bass Fashion Awards .
10.
If you want a solid workingmans 5 string Jazz, get the JO. Or... If you want a solid workingmans 5 string Jazz/MM/Precision hybrid, get the 55-02.
+1. The 55-02 sounds very different to the JO, more modern and hifi to my ears (probably the preamp). Depends what you're after really .
11. It sounds more of a client side issue to me. Tried using another browser ?
12. Sod it - nothing interesting has popped up so it's withdrawn. Thanks to all those who made offers .
13. I'll move this to... oh ok.
14. No no - those V1004DX's are great. I reviewed one in 2007 and it was fantastic. Have a look here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=9244
15. Agreed, that gold bridge is seriously snazzy. Gold knobs would be too much though..
16. Had a couple of interesting offers but quite similar to the other basses I already have. I'm going to change now to say 5 strings only, I don't need another 4 . Something like a Bongo 5 (any pickup config) would seriously interest me.
17. That Euro is fantastic. There's something about a red stain on highly figured maple..
18. I hope you aren't planning on subverting this poor chaps thread .
19. Hmm, if that was a 5 string it'd be a deal by now. Let me ponder. EDIT: Keep the offers coming in
20. A toe in the water to see what else is out there. Have had this bass about 6 months now and it's fantastic - best bass i've ever had. So why try and get rid ?! Just want to try something else, honestly. Not really after the cash, just a change of scenery. It's a 2005 model in good nick, with Lakland pickups (not Barts) and LH-3 preamp. I'm interested to hear about trades for preferably another 5 string. These are £1300 new and the pickguard cost the former owner £50 from the US, so looking for trades of basses of similar quality/price. But please fire away with any offers - doesn't hurt to ask !
21. Have got this issue but not read it fully yet, however I think they spend far too much time deliberating on the differences between hugely expensive custom basses. There are budget/mid price basses in there, but not many. It comes across as that they are reviewing them more for their own benefit than the average bassist.
22. Yeah sod that, especially at the price of US Fenders nowadays. Thought about something else ?
23. I think there's a lot better for the price. What music are you playing ?
24. Are those the Nordstrand pickup casings ? Mine are much more rounded.
