  1. So it's basically an effects pedal with a power amp section ? Ok, could work, but i'd rather not integrate the 2 separate systems myself.
  2. I had a sunburst/maple one from eBay as it went cheap. It felt 'OK' but it did feel a bit heavy, the pickups were also extremely hot, and the top end was too much. Sold it a few weeks later for same price. Agree on Squier as a better option.
  3. I've got one, it is not the gritty rock bass you expect. It has a very clean tone, the preamp is fairly timid - but it's great for recording.
  4. I didn't listen to that signal alone, but the 4 combined (clean DI / 2 x amp mics / Amp post EQ DI) so hard to advise if this happened here also.
  5. I think it was a Behringer. Clean signal to desk direct from bass, then to effects & amp.
  6. And mine, I used a non Zoom PSU and it would do this, very intermittently. Took me ages to work it out.
  7. I did this on a 415 - definite improvement in clarity of notes.
  8. I use a D-Roc 5 and NG-2 in an originals hard rock/grunge band. Generally clean tone but with occasional light drive. The passive D-Roc probably is easiest to fit in soundwise and I tend to use the Bridge & Middle pickups in parallel (sounds like a passive Stingray). Whilst the NG needs the treble rolling back a bit to not be too spicy, I tend to use both pickups in parallel or the neck alone (close as it'll get to a P). I recorded for our new single yesterday - ran the D-Roc basically clean into DI and it sounded immense. Still very clearly a Dingwall, but without the clank most people are used to hearing.
  9. As someone who's worked in IT for 20 years, I agree with the above - it appears to be a device rendering issue, even if only one website affected. Clearing cache/reboot is definitely the first try, also try clicking the 3 dots and 'show desktop site'.
  10. I've had a fair few Yamahas over the years (all RBX or BB). Every one of them was a good instrument - but very few of them however really inspired me. Their current lineup is very conservative and nothing really has changed for several years. If they conjured up a multiscale 5 string based on the RBX (ideally with a non-boring finish) I would be on it like a tramp on a kipper. However they tend to shy away from 'trends' and keep a design for many years with little revision apart from maybe a different shade of brown. That said - my 1999 RBXJM2 is staying as it looks amazing and I think the best looking bass they made:
  11. Despite my generally modern choices of instruments, I also have one. It's great as a reference point or when I want something uncomplicated to learn new material on. but it very rarely leaves the house (had it 7 years). 2005 MIM with Nordstrand NP-4.
  12. First video i've been in, it's a lot more time and effort than I had anticipated but we're happy with how it turned out, my bass looks great 😀
  13. There's a back story very much backing you up 🤣 https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/461700-nbd-yamaha-rbx6jm-john-myung-signature/
  14. I have a similar story from my parents, they however made about £20k on the endowment policy (the house was £13k in 1978). Add that now to the house being worth about £290k, not a bad return (admittedly the money is non-existent unless it gets sold). That said, mine has gone up about £30k in 12 months, but I doubt it'll go for £4.6m in 40 years.
  15. I have 2 Dingwalls, a 6 string and 5 string fretless Yamaha. Alongside it is a 2005 Mexican P bass which I generally use for leaning/writing as it means I can't faff about deciding what tone to have and just play some actual music.
  16. That contributed to me shifting it. Sounded great but I managed to ding it more than once just practising at home sat down by a desk. Didn't fancy putting it through a few gigs. Never had such an issue with poly finishes.
  17. I colour matched mine almost perfectly with some acrylic art paints the kids have. It was actually a lot more purple than blue but came out looking as new from a couple of feet away.
  18. It depends what you want from it really, you can break the differences down to scale, pickups and cosmetics (as the EQ is the same on them all) The multiscale one is not as 'big' as e.g. Dingwalls, and is a 35" at the B string. I had a 34" EBH1505 and the B was fine but probably wouldn't handle being drop tuned as well as the multiscale would. Regarding the 1005 vs 1505, the latter more expensive one has 'better' Nordstrand pickups and a fancier finish with the burl top. Personal preference is the key point here - there are plenty of YouTube videos that can help, this is the best I found: n.b. I sold my EHB1505 to go towards a Dingwall NG-2
  19. I installed a Nordstrand NP4 yesterday, sounds great.
  20. October update:
  21. Had similar with an ATK200, but the max adjustment was just right for the strings I had. Changing your string gauges/tension is probably the only way around it, otherwise yeah... 🔥
  22. Went to a metal gig a couple of weeks ago. All 3 of the bands had bassists. I'm playing a gig tonight, all 4 of the bands have bassists also. In fact I don't think i've seen a band live without one in 20 years (since I started going).
  23. Yikes. The OEM ones are good enough for me at that price.
  24. How much did the tuners/bridges cost you ? I might do the same for the full hazard look.
