1. My bed.. or the amp itself sometimes.
2. Yeah thinking about it they probably are 2 x jack. My EB180 was like so and the only differences between that and the MAG are the power stage and colour of paint.
3. Nice soft tone.. think Sting and you're close ! You may find you might not need to replace the pickup - try one with an open mind that they might be sounding good already ! I know the Squier Telebass sounds fantastic as it is.
4. I've probably posted already on here but oh well.. Please note you won't ever see me smile again.. this was on honeymoon and it was 38C and I had a cold beer .
5. That Thumb actually looks quite good.. might just be the curly bubinga looking nice though.
6. ABS = Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene ! Basically a moulded plastic hard case, fairly standard and worth about £40-£50. TRC = Truss Rod Cover.
7. Definitely email Ashdown - I reported the same problem to them on the first review model they sent to me. The 2nd one has been fine (well I did buy it..) They will probably refer you to where you bought it for a warranty repair/replacement though.
8. So it doesn't happen at low volumes ? - sounds like the preamp isn't being clipped (which is good) so it might just be the speaker can't handle the volume. Has it always done it ? If not the speaker could be damaged. And as johnnylager said - it IS always time for a new one .
9. I would have bought it back for 20% less ! Then again I am a ruthless cold-hearted individual.
10. Fender Marcus Miller (OutToPlayJazz) Pedulla Pentabuzz (Crazykiwi) Modulus Flea (Tonyf) Lakland 55-94 (Sold by Chopthebass) A pic is needed for the 55-94..
11. You have to have one 1/4 jack and one speakon, but yes you can get a cable that's 1/4 one end and speakon the other.
12. My Mexican Jazz is exactly the same... can't see a decent reason for it either.
13. How about one with chrome and a red tort pickguard ? This is mine before I got it from Rasta - I may put the pickguard back on haven't decided yet.
14. Amps owned (see if you can sport a pattern): Ashdown Five Fifteen 65w Ashdown Electric Blue 180-12 Ashdown ABM300 Evo II Amps Gigged: Ashdown Electric Blue 180-12 Ashdown ABM300 Evo II Ashton BA150 Laney R4H + 410 +115 I am considering progressing from Ashdown at some point - but have no idea which path to take.. for now.
15. I've just acquired a 55-02 (same pickups/preamp as the 55-94) and have been giving it a good thrashing the last few days. I would say it can sound quite similar to a Jazz, more in a Marcus Miller type sound than your typical Jazz sound though. The coil tap allows you to select single coil mode in the humbucker which makes it sound extremely convincing. To replace a Jazz ? No, but to compliment it ? Certainly. The Lakland can do a reasonable impression of a Stingray too, albeit less aggressive and a little more polite.
16. Cab will be about 36Kg. http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.as...n=abm&ID=14
17. Yeah plain black for me too please !
18. That's the one - it may be quite a tight fit so after the screws are out be prepared to give it a bit of a tug !
19. If I forget about music for a few days I definitely come back to the bass with new ideas, technically i'm no better but I find my only real limitation is in thinking of something to play badly in the first place .
20. The Sterling has a smaller body, thinner neck and an extra fret. Soundwise they're similar but it could be said the Sterling is more versatile with the 3-way selector.
21. Swapped my Stingray for Lee's Lakland 55-02 last week, he came up for the swap from Devon so mega thumbs up from me. Great chap !
22. Depends how much you want to spend really, WD are quite expensive and I found they aren't that good a fit either. Had to file out the neck pickup slot on the one I bought..
