1. 4 ?! They can't have all been playing at the same time ! Iron Maiden have 3 and to be honest 2 would be enough. One rhythm and one lead is just right. 3's company and all that .
2. BassCentre were definitely there in 2006, and BassDirect in 2007. Anyway - don't forget that Bass Day is the same weekend . http://www.bassday.co.uk/
3. You posted it in Basses For Sale and I moved it .
4. Very shiny natural finishes... chrome bits.. mmm Just make sure there's no dust/fingerprints !
5. Yeah I suppose so, there's usually a queue though. Want to try the bass too ?
6. Swapped my Stingray with Rasta yesterday for his Lakland Skyline 55-02. He was visiting his in-laws 2 miles away so it worked out very well on the drop-off ! Top bloke and it was a painless affair. Have tweaked it as per my requirements and it's very nice. Lots of sounds available from the EQ and pickup combo, and the B is extremely tight and focused. Haven't tweaked the EQ yet but it seems like the bass/treble are fairly subtle but the mid-range control is brutal ! Put some brand spanking Slinkies on it (40-125) and they seem to suit it well. I'll miss the Stingray but this will keep me happy.. I would do sound samples but Lakland beat me to it and are better than me anyway: http://www.lakland.com/ac_5502.htm
7. Oh but they're wooly and it'll probably blow up .
8. It explains why they're cheap but I can assure you they aren't rubbish.
9. I quite liked the one I tried. A very modern Jazz sound to it - great tone to it. The active EQ does make a big difference to the tone and in a positive way...
10. bassman100 - you may be better off answering peoples concerns in public, this will in my eyes show that you take it seriously and will try to address these issues rather than keeping it behind the scenes.
11. Oh but which one ?! Watch this space for details of Basschat's first 'swap triangle'.
12. Deal impending - just waiting for Friday for swapover.
13.
It sounded bloody GREAT. 'I'm keeping this,' I thought. 'I'll pull it from ebay when I get home.' Checked my email at half-time... some (lucky) bugger had hit the BIN.
I would have put up with the negative feedback if it was that good..
14.
Go for the JO5. Best 5er this side of £1500 (except for a bongo 5HH) IMHO... Kicks a 'ray 5's backside (again IMHO).
The important bit is highlighted . I am considering my options currently.
15. Spector Q6 Pro.. (2nd from left) Play spot the Basschatter as well .
16. I think Stingrays have definitely dropped a bit, but I feel the cosmetically superior ones (birdseye maple necks / old style bridges) should command a more reasonable price of £700+. With the Warwicks - a couple of people have unsuccessfully tried to shift there Warwicks on here ridiculously cheap. It appears the problem isn't what is being charged, but that everyone is skint ! That Streamer ProM 5 was down to less than £400.. which is crazy in my eyes. And back on topic (sorry OP ! ), replied to your PM Thunderthumbs .
17. Thanks for the offer but I haven't got any capital to stick into a trade - looking for straight swaps only .
18. If anyone is up for a trade, i'm ideally looking for something with 2 pickups and active EQ, but bung me anything you have - i'm open to new ideas.
19. Sellers prerogative. We don't disallow it and nor do we intend to either. When dealing with people anonymously on the internet, you have to be cautious and weary, and expect people to be the same towards you. People do change their mind as sometimes they don't get what they feel is a worthy offer for their equipment, this will never change.
20. I have had a reply but it was very non-committal ! I dare say the seller has had multiple offers but is very specific about what they want and putting other offers on hold until he realises it won't happen. Unfortunately Aharon you are doomed to failure as you can't get a Stingray 4 with a selector switch for series/parallel/single.
21. Really really want a 5 string, this bass is absolutely fantastic but it also my most valuable ! Looking for trades of decent 5 strings, a Stingray 5 would be ideal obviously. Interested to see what else is out there really.. offer away ! The body in amazing condition, especially for a 13 year old bass, i’ve seen new basses look worse. The neck is a tiny bit grubby, but that’s what happens to maple fingerboards over time unfortunately. The previous (original) owner had the bass modified to move the pickup towards the neck. I moved it straight back and the pickguard covers it all no problem. The routing was done professionally on a jig and is very very tidy. It has no effect on the tone (i’ve played a lot of Stingrays and know for sure) and you won’t even know it’s there. I could have not told you this of course, but honesty and all that ! I would include 3 pickguards, those being the black one pictured, a matt white one (original EBMM) and the one modified for the different pickup position. You could if you so wished have the original pickup location and one in the extra routed hole, and with a little wiring modification you have a Stingray HH !
22. I tried a couple in the aforementioned PMT. Will get one for review in the next week or 2 - hopefully.
