Old thread bump... but. I played a Jim Deacon P bass today for £99.. and it was really good. Cream with red tort pickguard, looked great. If I get the spare cash and this Hohner doesn't work out I might get one.

Pre-EB Stingrays are generally more sought after, and the 90's EB ones are generally better looking with the birdseye maple necks and old style muted bridges.. A new Stingray will set you back at least £1000, the prices in-store seem to have gone up recently too - so when you see one go for £600 on here it's an absolute steal, personally I wouldn't let mine go for less than £750.

The shape wasn't anything unusual - any standard shape should do.

Maybe a mate of his is pumping up the price ?

Depends on the bass really. If it's relatively new then you do expect it in good nick.. if it's a 20+ year old piece of gear then you can't expect it to have survived too well if it's had multiple owners. My Stingray is virtually mint and is 12 years old, the Jazz is 8 years old and not in as good a condition. The Hohner is 24 or so, and really looks it too.. bucklerash, grubby neck, rusty screws etc..

Yeah there's definitely 2 different basses there, you can tell from the grain on the headstock.

There is a 5 string VX1005DX [url="http://www.jhs.co.uk/vintagebass.html"]http://www.jhs.co.uk/vintagebass.html[/url] I am currently reviewing a Fret-King Esprit which isn't a Vintage, but is designed by Trevor Wilkinson and distributed by JHS still. So basically yes - I should be able to get Vintage gear in.

Speaking for tonyf here - but he's currently intending to keep the HD350 and use an ABM810 to colour the tone a bit.

At the top right of the post you'll see an options button... click that and change to standard.

I think they were made by the same people who made Stagg..

I think Steve Lawson uses them on his fretless Modulus.. sounds pretty good I know that much.

Take a guitar stand... propping your up against the amp never works, and it WILL crash down. Plus it looks cool of the instruments are waiting on stage for you..

Yes it would. The only difference is the top wood though.. it'd sound pretty much the same.

If I ever need another cab it'll probably be another MAG210, it hasn't given me any cause to want anything else.

Meh, The Ashdown one is a bit oversized really - wouldn't want more than one of them.. Do EHX do anything suitable ?
