1. I accept that knowing more theory would make me a more inventive player, I do tend to stick to the same simple things I know. Then again, i'm happy just being a weekend plodder and don't really need to know anymore than I do.
2. Alexclaber, if you had reacted that way in real life you likely would have received the aforementioned 'black-eye' from someone yourself (not me though, i'm a nice guy !).
3.
I wonder what barts sound like. I'll probably end up trying to get an original replacement, or something thats as similar to the original pickup as possible. Suggestions?

If you don't like the Bartolini then a Nordstrand MM5.2 would be what I'd go for.
http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...nd_Pickups.html
4. I started off with guitar and then moved onto bass using a pick. Use one rarely now, but it does sound good when I do. As stated above, it's more of a different sound available to you if you can do both.
5. If you don't like the Bartolini then a Nordstrand MM5.2 would be what I'd go for.
6. I didn't mention you at all but if you seem to think it was you ?! Ah that's says it all . Anyway - thread closed, apologies to the OP.
7. After 11 years i'd expect you to have developed a pretty thick skin to be honest !
8. Chill out man ! Winding people up is what some people choose to do, and you reacting to it is taking the bait.
9. I knew what it was from the first pic of the neck . Looks like early/mid 90's Birdseye/Flamed maple to me.
10. Not if I answer last and lock it. But i'm not that immature. I think.
11. Looks intriguing.. a bit like PowerTab/Guitar Pro for Nintendo perhaps ? Might get it and stick it in the missus's... ooerr.
12. Gentlemen. You both appear to have lost the plot and seem to be using this thread as a method to score points from each other. I suggest if you wish your debate this further, that you take it to PM, as you have veered off-topic at the expense of answering the original posters question.
13. OLP MM32.. 5 string with dual humbuckers with coil switching and 3 band EQ... and only £300 quid. Need to get hold of one.
14. In my old band we once played 2 songs in the dark.. and I mean it was completely pitch black. It certainly lets you know how good your muscle memory is !
15. Wow they're pretty cheap ! Can't wait to get one for review.. EDIT: The range in general - not the Boosty ! http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/traben/~bass_guitars
16. Chemical Brothers - Block Rocking Beats is currently playing on Kerrang! FM.
17. The Stingray is for all my funk and slapping needs, for me it's the ultimate funk bass. Next up is the Jazz which has more options to it, it can funk it up - but also suit pretty much anything else. Have had 5/6 strings and found they didn't work in the music I played at the time, but I do fancy a MM styled 5 again. I am a long way from being unhappy with production basses, I haven't had enough yet to decide if i'd even want a custom.
18. Yeah - joining a band definitely makes you improve your game beyond bedroom fumbling (!). You will find no-end of advice and suggestions on here, welcome !
19. *shameless pimping for Tonyf* Don't fancy a G&L ASAT do you Al ? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=23907
