1. Yeah they're doing a 5 string one with Spalted Maple body soon.. that I DO want. Spalted Maple:
2. Since installing the new pickups on my Jazz, there's a definite buzz/hiss and i'm not touching the strings (volume has to be quite high though). This happens on all pickup configs.. any ideas chaps ? I'm aware single coils are liable to it but I don't remember hearing it with the stock pickups.. Cheers !
3. Lol, I wondered if anyone would buy one of these in the first place .
4. Pah, you can't just say 'the bass', we need details.
5. You are - I have a Jazz i'm happy with, also I am skint .
6.
Just rang PMT Apparently expecting some in within the week , sales guy really raved about them ,great neck and real eye candy they sold out of there first batch pretty much straight away . If I cant pick up a used marcus miller , I think I'll have to plump for one of these probably the Sunburst me thinks !
Was it Dave Sheriff ?
7. A price will help .
8. Going to PMT in Brum tomorrow, will see if there's one around.
9. I think remember hearing this through doods Epifani Epifani UL-610 at the Bash.. that was pretty scary stuff.
10. I can recommend Nordstrands - have a look here: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...nd_Pickups.html
11. Yeah i'd be inclined to agree on the SR506.
12. There's definitely a bigger market on eBay and you will expose yourself (!) to many more people than there are on here.
13. If you get lessons you should be able to tell the tutor what you want to achieve, and what you aren't interested in. They should take note of this so you don't end up being bewildered and easily bored. Welcome to the forum !
14. I accept that knowing more theory would make me a more inventive player, I do tend to stick to the same simple things I know. Then again, i'm happy just being a weekend plodder and don't really need to know anymore than I do.
15. Alexclaber, if you had reacted that way in real life you likely would have received the aforementioned 'black-eye' from someone yourself (not me though, i'm a nice guy !).
16.
I wonder what barts sound like. I'll probably end up trying to get an original replacement, or something thats as similar to the original pickup as possible. Suggestions?

If you don't like the Bartolini then a Nordstrand MM5.2 would be what I'd go for.
http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...nd_Pickups.html
17. I started off with guitar and then moved onto bass using a pick. Use one rarely now, but it does sound good when I do. As stated above, it's more of a different sound available to you if you can do both.
18. If you don't like the Bartolini then a Nordstrand MM5.2 would be what I'd go for.
19. I didn't mention you at all but if you seem to think it was you ?! Ah that's says it all . Anyway - thread closed, apologies to the OP.
20. After 11 years i'd expect you to have developed a pretty thick skin to be honest !
21. Welcome to the internet .
22. Chill out man ! Winding people up is what some people choose to do, and you reacting to it is taking the bait.
23. I knew what it was from the first pic of the neck . Looks like early/mid 90's Birdseye/Flamed maple to me.
24. Not if I answer last and lock it. But i'm not that immature. I think.
