1. My MIM Jazz is ok, needs new pickups though ! Good job I got some - am fitting some Nordstrand NJ4's in it tonight ! (Shameless plug). Other than the pickups a new neck would be nice, but only because this one was buggered by a past owner (not you 610*c !).
2. If in good condition and it has a birds eye maple neck then I think it's a fair price. If rosewood neck then a bit less, but you can pay £700 for a relatively bland one...
3. If you can't play Mr Pink perfectly within a day or two you should just give up.
4. Never seen one in a shop - only ever web stores.
5. Yeah he's usually pretty sharpish with them.
6. I know a 5 string HH would meet all of my needs. I'm yet to see one I REALLY like though...
7. 575w RMS ? That surprises me.. sure it isn't peak ? I'd expect you get 300w RMS.
8. If they don't reply let me know .
9. Gotta be quicker than that, Beefy.
10.
the Squier is up to the mark... the only drawback with it is that it has the Squier Logo... some people can't get past that fact...
Guilty. I really fancy a Squier Telebass or the 50's Precision. I'd probably be lame and change the logo though..
11. I find some of the reviews not too enlightening and somewhat focusing on unimportant aspects of the equipment. However - it has improved recently and I find the reviews too be more impartial, although not totally. I find it very handy and use the reviews to help add direction and substance to the ones I do for Basschat. I will continue to buy it - I feel it's better to have BGM than no magazine - it will only continue to improve. Hats off to Stuart for being transparent on here about his GB affiliation, although it might have been best mentioned in the review .
12. Just looked at an old email - they charge £75 for a service (plus any major parts).
13. Hmm. I'm in a funk band and slap in one of our songs, only because it fits perfectly well. There are plenty of songs I know it doesn't work and prefer to sit back and just play 'quietly'. Too much slap is mind-numbing - i'd had enough of it after the last Bass Bash !
14. Hmm pics aren't working - i'm sure they did before.. EDIT: Ignore me - imageshack is blocked here .
15. And better pics as promised:
16.
You got married...WTF did you expect?
Oh i'm sorry - I didn't realise you had details of my finances and who paid for what .
17. Doesn't look cheap to me - looks quite classy. Nice buy !
18. Superb - does it still work out cheaper when you have to pay import duty and VAT when you get back to the UK ?
19. The true and original Jazz bass is passive, so for 'authenticity' all Jazzes should be. The Mexican standard does sound like a Jazz bass (well it is one after all). Although - you will get a better sound if you spend more on a US, how much better it is is a matter of opinion. Be aware that Fender don't necessarily make the best Jazz basses either, they have long been surpassed in quality by some other brands. The only problem is - none of those other brands say Fender on the headstock... which for some is blasphemy. And as for the last bass you'll ever buy ? No chance, you'll be lured in and tempted by us lot to buy more .
20. Thread tidied - good luck with the sale.
21.
is everyone really that skint and desperate for cash at the moment?
Quite simply - yes. I know I have much less spare cash than a year ago despite earning a lot more.
