1. Raising the action on a Stingray is a bit like castrating it. It loses it's top end and all the balls that make it sound so good in the first place. A bit of string buzz is all part of the fun.
2. Mighty Mite are the only licensed Fender neck replacements I believe..
3. If you were to do so - you need a goal in mind. What about the BB404 do you dislike that you feel needs to change ? They are decent basses and well made like most Yamahas.
4. Try here: http://www.fender.com/support/diagrams/pdf...0136000BPg2.pdf
5. I'll get it from him in a week or 2 and take some proper pics - then you'll have a better idea .
6. Yeah they are. I haven't had it plugged in yet as my Dad decided to strip it down as soon as he got it.
7. Any special marks or dings you made ? I can check it out and see if it's yours .
8. Ok i'll get it uploaded - we've got a PC upstairs with a bluetooth dongle EDIT: Here we go..
9. My Dad picked up a Precision copy for £30 in a pawn shop. It's Lake Placid Blue with maple neck and fingerboard.. it needs a bit of work (new scratchplate and a cleanup) but other than that it isn't too bad. The neck is monstrous.. anyone know anything about them ? Google didn't tell me anything at all.. Got pics but only on my phone at the moment.
10. The East preamp is apparently designed to be a copy of the original 70's Musicman preamp... so I expect if the problem is in the design it may carry over to the East.
11. It's very easy to over analyse 'poor technique' when in reality what matters is what you hear.
12. Thinking about it it did feel like quite a stretch to the 1st fret..
13. Not according to their own website it isn't . http://www.bcrich.com/bass_nt_warlock.asp EDIT: I seem to remember comparing it to my RBX775 (35") and it was an inch less distance from nut to bridge saddle than the Yam. I could of course be remembering it wrong .
14. Review of this bass here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=18712&st=0 .
15.
Well if you dont have pics, then What fretboard is it? single hum? HH? HS?
If it's a 90's then it'll be H only.
16. I find being content to be a temporary state of mind, usually just after buying new gear. A few weeks/months later then the old "oh wouldn't it'd be nice to have that too" creeps in .
17. In new condition then, not actually new since it has already been owned. Apologies for the pedancy and good luck with the sale .
18. I'm referring to http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?act=SR&f=19: 3. These forums are for selling USED items only. If you are a trader then get in touch with a moderator who will be able to help you. I'm waiting for a PM from the OP and then i'm sure everything will be resolved amicably .
19. Not convinced on that theory unfortunately. The valve is entirely bypassed unless the switch is enabled. And even if it is enabled - the Sovtek 12AX7 is used in dozens of models of amps worldwide, and I think the same problem would be apparent in those also. My conclusion after experimenting heavily with the EQ is that the EQ 'flat' isn't really flat, the EQ controls more than rectify this and add the top end that people say it is lacking. Some people say the cabs colour the sound a lot too, I need to try this one out when I can get to one (might steal tonyfs EBS 410)
20. I had one exactly like this, was a great little combo and pretty loud too. Combined with another cab and it can easily handle small/medium gigs. I only sold mine to get an ABM..
21. How come it's brand new then ? Please PM me .
22. Yeah pretty nice - but I prefer Stingrays in the same colour scheme .
23. http://www.myspace.com/shatteredage Recorded using my Yamaha RBX775 (pre defret) into an Ashdown Electric Blue 180w. Some crazy EQing on my part... oh well at least you can hear it .
24. It should mean the strings sits lower in the saddle and thus your action will be slightly lower.. that was the main benefit I found.
25.
please remember that I am from West Bromwich when posting replies.
Wow, internet in a 3rd world country . The MAG and ABM aren't soo similar as mentioned above. If you are happy with the MAG then keep it, if you feel you want more versatility (EQ) and a warmer tone then the ABM would suit well. Now who ad all them fagguts and pays !?
