1. A Jazz will never sound like a Stingray - it's the pickups that give each their signature sound. A J-Retro won't make it sound like a different bass, it will however enhance how it already sounds.
2. Yeah i've had this once, it was a roasting hot day plus no air con in the room. It was the amplified cymbals that did it... felt like my whole brain was shaking around and like I was gonna drop.
3.
Ahhh! I see. How much deeper are we talking? I only ask because could it not be that if a Sterling pup was mounted in a stingray it 'may' just sit nearer the strings... if we are talking a few mm difference; obviously if it's massively different then no way! My price may not be cheap enough so we'll say £35.
Take a pic of the pickup (underneath) and we shall see !
4. Welcome to the forum - an extreme in tastes there, Squier and Overwater !
5. Sterling pickups are have a 3rd phantom coil and deeper routing to accommodate it .
6. It's worth noting that this will only fit a Sterling and not a Stingray. Good price though .
7. Ok - I think the conclusion here is you'll have to try both and see which you prefer .
8. You'd be better off with http://www.guitaremporium.co.uk - Far East doesn't have a lot of stock.
9. Having played both i'd go for the Squier - felt a bit more solid and sounded nicer .
10.
Hmm, quite an interesting interpretation - no 'double' voicing on acoustic part.. Though, the only weak thing there, as I've spotted, was your vocalist Was he drunk or somethin'? I'll get my coat...
He's the reason I left the band - he can't sing .
11.
I would love to - but not on a website like this. As it's not me that would get the legal hassle, but the guys that run the site.
Thanks for the consideration - and yes, please don't mention any names .
12. Wow, that'll never happen to me. The missus only like cheesy dance tunes, I could sit here and play Portrait of Tracy better than Jaco and she'd ask me to keep it down.
13. Hmm what other colours does it come in ? Looks pretty good, Squier are really upping their game.
14.
Ah, I'd love to see your playin' Master and Cowboyz, Machines.. Maybe got video or somethin'?
Well now you mention it.. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...eoid=2037347964 Not great quality and I hated the Laney rig I had to borrow . Some very dodgy demo recordings here too: http://www.myspace.com/shatteredage
15. Drop Ashdown an email here and i'm sure they'll get back to you quickly: http://www.ashdownmusic.com/contact/index.asp
16. Songs we covered in my old band: Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train Metallica - Master of Puppets Trivium - Entrance of the Conflagration Pantera - Cemetary Gates Pantera - Cowboys From Hell Megadeth - In My Darkest Hour Killswitch Engage - My Curse Dream Theater - Ytse Jam
17. I'm not a Fender fan, but do see them as pretty simple tools that don't really do anything wrong. I didn't buy my Jazz, I swapped for it. I doubt if i'd have had the cash i'd have bought it as there are better value 'copies' out there. The attraction of my Jazz to me is the predictable sounds I will get from it, I don't have to worry if it will fit in, it just will.
18. I really liked my 1980 Ibanez Musician MC900, sounded great and was really versatile - but it did have a maxed truss rod and the action was terrible. Still, did a straight swap for my resident Stingray so it's not all negative
19. As you stated originally is how I say it .
20. Musicman Stingray > Ashdown James LoMenzo Hyperdrive > Soundblaster Live 5.1
21. Let's leave it at that now - I think the point has been made quite well .
22. At home it's definitely a bit naff because I can't crank it. As soon as I can it's immense.. ABM with a bit of a mid and treble boost with the Stingray on full bass/treble = instant grin.
23. Thread tidied up to be relevant.
24. Great prices on everything here - am loving the Heritage Mockingbird.
