1. Hmm what other colours does it come in ? Looks pretty good, Squier are really upping their game.
2.
Ah, I'd love to see your playin' Master and Cowboyz, Machines.. Maybe got video or somethin'?
Well now you mention it.. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...eoid=2037347964 Not great quality and I hated the Laney rig I had to borrow . Some very dodgy demo recordings here too: http://www.myspace.com/shatteredage
3. How so ?
4. Drop Ashdown an email here and i'm sure they'll get back to you quickly: http://www.ashdownmusic.com/contact/index.asp
5. Songs we covered in my old band: Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train Metallica - Master of Puppets Trivium - Entrance of the Conflagration Pantera - Cemetary Gates Pantera - Cowboys From Hell Megadeth - In My Darkest Hour Killswitch Engage - My Curse Dream Theater - Ytse Jam
6. I'm not a Fender fan, but do see them as pretty simple tools that don't really do anything wrong. I didn't buy my Jazz, I swapped for it. I doubt if i'd have had the cash i'd have bought it as there are better value 'copies' out there. The attraction of my Jazz to me is the predictable sounds I will get from it, I don't have to worry if it will fit in, it just will.
7. I really liked my 1980 Ibanez Musician MC900, sounded great and was really versatile - but it did have a maxed truss rod and the action was terrible. Still, did a straight swap for my resident Stingray so it's not all negative
8. As you stated originally is how I say it .
9. Musicman Stingray > Ashdown James LoMenzo Hyperdrive > Soundblaster Live 5.1
10. Let's leave it at that now - I think the point has been made quite well .
11. At home it's definitely a bit naff because I can't crank it. As soon as I can it's immense.. ABM with a bit of a mid and treble boost with the Stingray on full bass/treble = instant grin.
12. Thread tidied up to be relevant.
13. Great prices on everything here - am loving the Heritage Mockingbird.
14.
Was what comment deleted?
Looks like the original poster deleted it, it wasn't a mod .
15. http://www.myspace.com/shatteredage Has been split for about 9 months now, site still unchanged .
16. Superb deal for someone..
17. Nice one - let us know how it goes .
18. I think if you really hacked at it the worst you could do is make big splinter holes near the frets... which wood filler would sort but look a bit odd.
19. Well I managed it so it can't be too bad ! Patience and a steady hand are what you need to get them out, I used a (sharpish) knife to get under the edge of the frets at the one side and then slowly lever them up, and the pliers to remove the rest of them. Splintering of the wood is inevitable, but taking your time it and glueing them back if it happens will sort that. Once you've got the lot out (about a minute per fret once you get into a rhythm) then you'll want to sand the neck down and fill the gaps with wood filler using a spatula or the side of a knife. Let it dry (day or 2) then sand the neck down with firstly course sandpaper, and then lowering grades until the neck is as you want it to be and nice and smooth. A nice dose of lemon oil later and it'll look great. If you want to epoxy it then don't ask me .
20. Why don't you just defret it ?
21. I'd definitely upgrade the amp before the bass, it can make a whole world of difference to hear things properly.
22. I think £800 is a fair price. People seem to think that all Rays 2nd hand should cost about £600, but the earlier ones (late 80's-late 90s) had such fantastic birdseye maple necks which I feel should warrant a higher price. Also any with a trans bridge and before (pre-97) look more like an original Ray and I feel are more sought after.
23. Closed on OP's request.
24. I wasn't ruining it though - you were ! To be fair my comments were hardly serious or threatening, but quite light hearted from where I was sitting. Perhaps I should have PM'd you first but I didn't - no going back ! Good luck in selling the Iceni scrawntcher.
