Yeah have played a couple in Sound Control. They're ok basses, i'd put them in the same category as Squier / Yamaha starter basses.

Is it made on the same line as the normal BB's ? If so it seems very expensive considering a normal BB is around £350.

If it had a bridge pickup too then I could perhaps put up with it .

I would never pay full price on expensive items (basses / amps) unless I thought it was already a bargain. Ticket prices do generally invite a bit of leeway for bartering, just how the industry seems to be.

Classic BB's rock, but the pickup there just makes me think it's some homebrewed experiment, looks wrong to me .

A Jazz will never sound like a Stingray - it's the pickups that give each their signature sound. A J-Retro won't make it sound like a different bass, it will however enhance how it already sounds.

Yeah i've had this once, it was a roasting hot day plus no air con in the room. It was the amplified cymbals that did it... felt like my whole brain was shaking around and like I was gonna drop.

Sterling pickups are have a 3rd phantom coil and deeper routing to accommodate it .

It's worth noting that this will only fit a Sterling and not a Stingray. Good price though .

Ok - I think the conclusion here is you'll have to try both and see which you prefer .

Having played both i'd go for the Squier - felt a bit more solid and sounded nicer .
