1. You'll be glad to know that as a moderator I am still allowed to have opinions .
2.
i cant stand the fact that you have posted your email address rather than asked to be pm'd it;s as if you actually are treating this like a free classified ad, and lack of pictures and indeed any details about you or the bass, a poor classified ad at that prove me wrong, introduce yourself, and actually be a member of the forum
Please do ignore BassManKev, he seems to think he runs the place when in fact - the only thing he does run is the BassManKev Official Fanclub (1 member). There is no requirement to participate in the forum before posting items for sale, however it can help your sale if people trust you more based on your actions elsewhere in the forum.
3. Shame I couldn't snag that OLP before you got it ! Looking at getting a new Graphite Pearl one - how is it ?
4. I picked up one in PMT last week, didn't plug it in but it was very light and played well. Didn't like the 'battleship grey' neck though .
5. A 93 should have a lovely birdseye maple neck and in my book worth a bit more than a more modern one without. I reckon £650 is a good deal and up to £750 depending on condition.
6.
great bass though - have ordered my bb714 hurrah
Hurry up and post pics when it comes, I can't wait to express my disapproval .
7.
I've been investigating a weird crackling in my V950B... I took the cover off the controls section and found the pickups had been disconnected sometime by cutting the wires and then reconnecting them by wrapping the exposed ends together and using insulation tape to hold the joins together... no solder at all... I think the pickups had been replaced sometime without taking advantage of the proper connectors on the PCB... No photos yet... I'll take them when I strip it back to do a proper fix (soldering the twists and then using insulation tape...)
Yep that was standard Vintage construction at the time - my V940FL was the same.
8.
they offered to send a brand new neck.
I suppose at those prices they can afford to .
9. Either are acceptable, I looked it up before hand .
10. Usually the bass on full and the treble either on or off, depending on the dynamics of the song.
11.
Spector basses and Schecter guitars needed a new UK home, and Arbiter will now be handling both of them, which the company assures will now be available to the wider UK MI industr
This is good, was always fedup of having to go there if I wanted to see these.
12. You can start on a 5 string but it will be a little bit harder than on a 4. If the music you want to play doesn't need a 5th string i'd say don't bother. So where you from sulfr ? And yes - I played guitar first and moved over to bass after about 6 months .
13.
That's a beautiful bass mate, love the colour and the birdseye maple on the neck, good luck with the sale, you won't need it!
Strictly speaking that's just flamed not birds eye. Apologies for my pedantism .
14.
Stoo, it's a +1 from me on the OLP MM22 (the twin humbucker active one) - If I worked for Ernie Ball, I'd want that production line closed down as well! That bass is sooo good! I'm still thinking of buying one. I play it every time I go into my friend's shop & it outplays many Fenders, Lakland Skylines of various types, etc. Excellent bass. Buy one before they're all gone, I say! Rich.
Please stop it. I tried an MM22 last week and it was bloody great. Really tempted to order an MM32 but i'm getting married in 3 weeks and would probably have grounds for divorce pretty quickly !
15. Darn, there's goes my early retirement.
16. Does that mean I can start charging for them ?!
17. Don't take my observations as gospel - I don't know what i'm wittering about most of the time .
18. I look forward the the first pics with some intrigue
19. Wow, I thought the going rate for a Mex Jazz was about £225..
20. Wouldn't get enough for it for me to sell it really, it's cheap as it is so I might as well keep it knocking about .
21. Yeah PMT is my favourite store - me and tonyf had already spent over an hour in there before we went to SC !
22.
The Legendary Kevin Cooke
What legend is this ? .
23. Yeah, I think the place I tried it sucks for demoing basses anyway, so that didn't help. Come to think of it i've never been impressed with anything soundwise in there... (Birmingham SoundControl's bass dungeon)
24.
believe it or not found your review using a google search like this: ashdown james lomenzo hyperdrive review. It brought up a talkbass review linked back to you!
I'm famous ! ^_^. The pedal is fantastic, just at the moment I can't find a use for it (i'm currently in funk band).
