1. I think it's more a case of because they're in bankruptcy.. I doubt normal sales rules will apply.
2. Try ringing them ? It's inevitable though..
3. I always 'push flat' . Except if i'm playing some rock/metal.. in which case it's great if using a pick. It does however give somewhat of a mid lacking sound.. For my funk band it's flat EQ, with a boost on the top 2 sliders and knob.
4. Yeah it was. I've only used an EB combo with a 15" at a studio and that WAS muddy.
5. Strange - my 'Asdown' always sounds how I want it to, that being bright and punchy. A few people tried it at the bash and commented that it sounded great, and no - they weren't other Ashdown users .
6. As a pretty bog standard Squier Jazz bass - in good condition around £100 I guess.
7. How did you set the EQ ?
8. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squier#Korean_Squiers: Korean Squiers CN/VN: C = Cor-Tek (Cort), V = Saehan(Sunghan), S was already taken by Samick so Saehan(Sunghan) used V instead (Saehan(Sunghan) made the Vester guitars), N = Nineties (1990s), the first number following the serial number prefix is the year. For example * "CN5" = made by Cor-Tek (Cort) in 1995. * "VN5" = made by Saehan(Sunghan) in 1995. KC/KV: KC (Korean Cor-Tek (Cort)) and KV (Korean Saehan(Sunghan)), the serial number prefix is followed by a 2 number year. For example * "KC97" = made by Cor-Tek (Cort) in 1997. * "KV97" = made by Saehan(Sunghan) in 1997.
9. Here is an excellent and somewhat over complex guide - http://www.bassdefret.com/how-to-defret/index.php .
10. How about this ? Only lacking a pickguard really.. http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~F...ng)~ID~5887.asp
11. Where are you, around Bromsgrove ? Hello from Solihull .
12. The only unhelpful solution I can offer is don't make assumptions .
13. Ok I had one of these too.. . Sounded good, only things that let it down are it's weight and fairly simple EQ. It has a cab extension socket but when pumping out 100w I don't think there's much point. I've used one of these at a studio to jam with a band and it coped fairly well without me maxing it out. If you want to gig with it then I think you should look at saving a bit more cash and getting either an EB or MAG.
14. From what he's saying it shouldn't be any different - it just looks different due to the internal parts. In practise I imagine there will be a slight difference, however I wouldn't like to guess how .

Might make a reasonable budget alternative to an SR5 by the looks of it. If they did these with neck pickups too i'd be interested .
16. "probably" handle a higher wattage .
17. dood, I notice on the pics that one of the strings has a red wrap on it. Is this so you don't get confused and know which the E is ? :brow:
18. Yeah - as the strings slowly get dirtier and lose their edge, you don't notice the bass sounding duller. Then all of a sudden you think the bass doesn't sound as good as it used to. Give the strings a boil or buy a new set - it's like a new bass again, nearly.
19. Other bands being slow or faffing about. That being when sound checking or over playing their slot... I don't like being delayed.
20. Email Ashdown using this form: http://www.ashdownmusic.com/contact/index.asp Link them to this page if you want - I expect Martin will reply to you pretty quickly.
21. What do you currently have ? I had an EB-12 which was great, I only upgraded to an ABM from it due to a good deal on the ABM, otherwise it would have done me fine. It gigged a few times with a MAG210 extension cabinet and I never had the volume past half. As for whether the 12 or 15 is better - that's personal preference. It's usually said that a 12 will have better mids than a 15, with the 15 having better lows... but I reckon there isn't a huge difference.
22. When I had an EB (basically a down graded MAG) the 100Hz control rarely got touched, it seemed to make it far too boomy.
23. Did someone say my name ?! They are quite different amps in my unprofessional opinion. I think the ABM is a lot warmer and more 'vintagey'. The MAG has the ability to boost the EQ at 220Hz where the ABM has it as 180Hz and 340Hz. This is a quite different range of low mids and does change the tone available quite a lot. The MAG has more of what you'd typically call punch, where as the ABM I feel as better thundering lows as the Bass EQ = 45Hz Vs the MAG's 100Hz. The ABM certainly is more versatile with the valve circuit and 7 band EQ rather than 5, it's possible to get quite a superb clear tone from the ABM with some minimal tweaking. Out of the 2 - if you can afford it get the ABM, if not the MAG will not dissapoint you.
Can anyone point me to some sound samples for this?
http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=16704
"Accidently" turn it on. Then Noodle. What will they do, sack you mid gig...!?
No but it just sounds out of place .
