    There must be something about Celinders i'm not aware of - they do seem VERY expensive to me.. but they do seem to sell.

    Shops mark up 'every day' items like strings to a horrendous amount. I could pay £29.99 for a set of standard rotos in a shop.. or £12 online.

    Crazy.. but cool that he was immune to GAS. I know i'll always want something else.. And I sold my first bass... it was a crappy Squier Bronco. I'm glad I don't have it anymore because it sucked .

    If the price is decent then they will shift, they aren't THAT bad instruments so I expect someone may give it a shot.

    I have a guitar too, same one I bought 6 when I first started learning 6 years ago. Went through a phase of buying guitars but they all sound the same .

    You can hardly see any drill holes with the item removed as long as you don't bodge it..

    Changing the preamp first would be easier, since it may be hard to find pickups that will fit without further modification to the bass.
