1. It's got a humbucker at the bridge position - it's supposed to be bright and punchy !
2. I saw that on eBay myself... wondered who the goon in the pic was .
3. I've played a couple of these - they're interesting and certainly unique.
4. I 'push flat' when i'm at home. Haven't had chance to try it live yet so couldn't say if I like it or not. I think it sounds pants on its own but it might be really good in the mix...
5.
Being a pedant, that's not infinite. There are still maximum and minimum positions, therefore a finite number of in between positions, even if you're saying a 1 micron movement means a new position!
But then you go smaller than a micron .
6.
"The pickup can be 'wiped' through an infinite number of positions.." Hardly infinite! It would be interesting to hear how this bass sounds.
Strictly speaking it is infinite - there is no limit to the smallest movement possible to attain a new position. Sure it won't be noticeable but it is a fair claim.
7. That's really... clever. But i'd rather just have a bass with 2 pickups .
8. I've got a year old set of D'Addario Chromes on my Jazz, they suit it wonderfully and have that lovely thump without being totally devoid of higher frequencies. I tried some Thomastiks on tonyf's fretless Stingray and they were lovely - very flexible and reasonably low tension in comparison to the Chromes.
9. Welcome back, hope things are going well. Are you still in a position to offer a cheeky discount to BassChatters ? I believe it was 5% ?
10. I think you're the only person on here with a Klystron... what do you think of it ?
11. It has been removed - dood check mods forum for details.
12. G&L basses are pretty well known - they're Leo Fender's last venture. Have a look here for some history: http://www.glguitars.com/
13.
Did you get one? At £170 it could be a world beater
I've been lazy with reviews in the last few weeks so will wait until i've got more time ! There's an interesting twist to my current review bass..
14. Should be ok then - I wouldn't (personally) gig it though.
15. So bi-amping with your MAG basically ? Personally I wouldn't do it - you're still sending a bass signal to the guitar amp which wasn't built to handle the lows (could easily rip the speaker cones at decent volumes).
16. I like the BBs but that looks horrid to me. It's like someone drunkenly played around in photoshop and then decided to put it into production too.
17. Yep they've had a compressor added, along with the Electric Blue range. Ashdown initially did this same thing a year ago but seemed to drop it for a (I assume) a QC issue. Looks like they've cleared it up now.
18. White perloid would look good there !
19. Welcome back. What's with the kisses !?
20. Hah ! I played that very bass 6 weeks ago. Beautiful instrument and you will be happy with it.
21.
Hmm... we'll see. By the way, what's going on with Ashdown's designs at the mo? A lot of the new stuff they're putting out looks awful...
It is a bit strange. They seem to be veering off-tangent from the typical head/cab designs we're all used to. Props for originality - but I don't think I'd ever choose a lime green / bright orange head.
22. http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/section.asp?section=labs Just spotted these on their site... they kept them quiet !
23. I think you'd do better selling the bass and then buying a car of your own choice ! Would likely stand a better chance that way.
24. I'll wait till it's in the shops in a week or so .
25. I'd love to do a review for you Dave, the VTX-400 would probably suit me best. I'm not in a buying position at the moment but it would be a bit of an insight for people who are. Let me know if you're interested. Matt
