Thanks for the pointer. I've withdrawn from 'expensive' basses for the foreseeable future. The Yamaha RBXJM2 I got recently is scratching the Musicman sound itch.

I had a 4HH in Graphite Pearl and a a 5HS in Tangerine Pearl. I sold the 4 string as the 5 seemed to cover both abilities. The 5 I sold once i'd bought a Dingwall NG3 (which i've also sold).With the glory of hindsight, I would quite happily of not sold either. However I wouldn't touch them at the new price, the colours are also much less exciting than they used to be. They do seem to have dried up on the 2nd hand market, they used to be everywhere.

Ok, more than expected for me... RedSub Coliseum 6 G&L L-5500 (and also sold) Yamaha RBX JM2 BC Rich Mockingbird Heritage Classic Boredom alone gives more playing time, which generates a lust for something new 😕

This is nothing that Lakland, Musicman, and Dingwall haven't managed already in the Far East. Sadowsky do however seem to have cosmetically at least, undermined the brand by making it the logo look like it was ink stamped on from a children's art kit from The Works for £3.99.

I was eyeing this up on Thomann yesterday, interested to hear this plugged in :).

Maybe picking up interference from something else in the house that was then off ? Lights, nearby power adapters etc..

I think it's 16.5mm if you look closely 🔍.

Open to interpretation but it's definitely under 18mm

Well, I might measure it myself and let you know when I can be bothered to get off the sofa. My Yamaha RBXJM2 is 16.5mm and doesn't feel noticeably different.

Ah, I have been measuring as below:

String spacing should be measure saddle centre to saddle centre, as string gauges are variable. There should be no difference on a fanned fret to a normal bass.

The website lists it as 18mm.

I'm pretty sure it isnt roasted maple on the recent batch but normal maple with a fake tint.

Still happy with mine. Wouldn't sell it for what I paid for it, which is less than the eBay 2nds. Looks like a fantastic instrument spec wise they thought they could get from a manufacturer for a specific price point, that the manufacturer wasn't able to deliver consistently.

I've been with a new band since August and rehearsed every week so far. They want to continue next week, with the studio having the same point of view as above - if you are 'musicians' practising for a recording or gig in the future, it's all OK. That said, we're very much not going to be doing paid gigs or releasing albums that I can ever see. I'm on the fence as to if it is legal, or worth the potential ballache should anything pop up.
