  1. Update
  2. I was eyeing this up on Thomann yesterday, interested to hear this plugged in :).
  3. Maybe picking up interference from something else in the house that was then off ? Lights, nearby power adapters etc..
  4. I think it's 16.5mm if you look closely 🔍.
  5. Open to interpretation but it's definitely under 18mm
  6. Well, I might measure it myself and let you know when I can be bothered to get off the sofa. My Yamaha RBXJM2 is 16.5mm and doesn't feel noticeably different.
  7. Ah, I have been measuring as below:
  8. String spacing should be measure saddle centre to saddle centre, as string gauges are variable. There should be no difference on a fanned fret to a normal bass.
  9. The website lists it as 18mm.
  10. Wow great detective work @FQ4. The dude was dumb enough to post from his personal Facebook as well 🤣. Nice easy job for the cops for handling stolen goods.
  11. I'm pretty sure it isnt roasted maple on the recent batch but normal maple with a fake tint.
  12. Still happy with mine. Wouldn't sell it for what I paid for it, which is less than the eBay 2nds. Looks like a fantastic instrument spec wise they thought they could get from a manufacturer for a specific price point, that the manufacturer wasn't able to deliver consistently.
  13. I've been with a new band since August and rehearsed every week so far. They want to continue next week, with the studio having the same point of view as above - if you are 'musicians' practising for a recording or gig in the future, it's all OK. That said, we're very much not going to be doing paid gigs or releasing albums that I can ever see. I'm on the fence as to if it is legal, or worth the potential ballache should anything pop up.
  14. Probably not. It wouldn't be THAT hard to stick a MM in a Squier and see what it's like.
  15. At least it's something different ! I'd definitely be interested in trying one.
  16. Thanks, however I already got a discount due to it being ex-demo (it is the one on the website and YouTube vids) and to be honest, roasted maple or not - it was still a stupid price without any discount.
  17. I had a Dingwall NG3 5, and now have a Yamaha RBXJM2 / RedSub Coliseum 6 fanned fret. If selling the two 6s I had now would pay for a Dingwall NG3 6, I would have done so :).
  18. Non-parallel strings between nut and machine heads has to be the worst for me:
  19. Depends on price for me and whether you prefer chonky necks (ATK) or a slim one (Ray 4). You'll get a very similar sound.
  20. I had an ATK200, sounded great. Absolutely nailed the Stingray sound but had 2 extra tones in the pocket too with the selector switch (neck solo was particularly good). Agree with the above that it was heavy, but not excessively so. I would possibly have kept it if it wasn't brown.
  21. Will do once I've got some new strings, couple of weeks.
  22. Well i've had two RBX775s and still have the one (defretted and refinished). The feel is very familiar and the neck profile feels the same (extra string aside). It's a bit heavier than the 5 string however I think that's mostly the larger body at play. Totally different sound though, the RBX77x is quite dark sounding, very midscooped with a glassy top end, the JM2 is Stingray territory and the 3 band EQ is much better than the treble only on the 77x (still not sure what the boost switch really does after 16 years). Yeah mine is April 2004 and it looks like they changed to the dark chrome for RBX774/5 too later apx 2006.
  23. Spotted on Facebook Marketplace yesterday at 9AM, in my house by 2PM same day - I do love spontaneous purchases 2004 model in moderate condition, got it for a good price and has cleaned up nicely. Has a couple of drill holes where a rudimentary ramp was fitted, but I'll get round to hiding them eventually. Taking it to rehearsal tonight for a good blast .
  24. To turn it round, I've got a superb guitar distortion sound on my Zoom B3n. Sounds better than the Boss ME50.
  25. I had a USA Stingray 5HH, great bass, just too 'expensive' for what I do. I tried one of these out though in PMT a few weeks ago, soundwise they're great and hit my expectation. But the neck felt a bit unfinished/rough, it needed more sanding or some oil to feel right for me. For the price however it wasn't a bad instrument.
