  1. I turned it down at £425 despite it only being a mile away I wasn't that excited about it really. Wanted a bargain but more than the bass itself.
  2. I'm unsure if these instruments have any particular unique selling point that other brands at this price point may have. The fact they are backed up by Dan Lakin to me means they will be great instruments, but so far they look very anonymous in an ocean of Fender clones. (with Lakland at least, the oval bridge is distinctive). The previous fate of the 'D Lakin' basses was quite tragic also, they seemed to not sell very well anywhere despite being good instruments. I would expect these to be on par with Skylines in general, if not made by the very same factory (and i'd wager they are).
  3. I had a similar experience with a J&D Jazz bass with DV247, the courier lost it and DV247 took too long to sort, so I cancelled the order. It made me realise I didn't actually want it. I then didn't use them for 2 years until they were the only place that had what I needed in stock, but this experience was without fault so they were redeemed.
  4. Sounds like you didn't really want the bass that much if a few days delay puts you off the entire purchase
  5. I picked this up in a trade earlier this year, and despite it being every bit the instrument I expected it to be, it is more than I need with several budget basses I like and can happly gig, thus I have had to decide I would be better off with the cash in the bank for boring real life things (house, car etc). A few minor dings, nothing unusual for it's age and it has definitely been utilised in a live environment, but not carelessly. Sounds thunderous and I've had compliments from the band and Joe Public for the tone I had. This is a 2014 model with 3 band EQ and 5 way switching, it is also very light for a SR5 at 9lbs. The 5 way switching makes it a much very versatile bass, thumpy P sounds are totally viable along with the classic Ray sound. Current price for a new Stingray 5HH is about £2300. Collection vastly preferred (J10 M42) but can post for ~£30 with a few days notice.
  6. Wow those are ugly. Loosk like a 2 year old was let loose on them with the craft box contents. In the dark.
  7. I picked up a 2nd hand one for 230 quid last week. Definitely better than standard Epiphone bolt on. Gibson pickups seem pretty beefy too.
  8. I had one for a bit. Nice with flats, never rounds on these.
  9. Hofner Verythin.
  10. Build it and they will come or something.
  11. Wow, so bargain. Much cheap.
  12. https://shop.fender.com/en-GB/electric-series/american-ultra/ Count me in as underwhelmed.
  13. I'm still waiting...
  14. I have analysed my GAS over the last 15 years, and realised that there is no 'ultimate bass' for me that does it all. I like variety in tone and appearance, so have now got 3 main basses that should give me absolutely anything I need or want (Precision / Jazz / Stingray). Since getting part 3 of the above, the GAS has died down, but still find myself looking for something to GAS for - the thrill of the hunt etc. Despite the fact anything additional will very likely replicate something I already have.
  15. I bought a 2nd hand 2018 VM 2 weeks ago. It's taken me by surprise just how good it is. Easily on par with my old MIJ Marcus Miller sound a playability wise.
  16. I shudder to think how much he got for it. That said, Cash Converters have absolutely no chance of flogging it at that price. Even at half that probably.
  17. I thought the holes were reflected off something. Eeeek. I'd have to fill them and repaint the hole thing.
  18. It could be a MIM Fender, but why someone would remove the headstock logo is beyond me. The burst and neck look decent enough. Definitely not the original bridge/tuners/neckplate whatever it is. Glad you didn't pay £499 though.
  19. Or ask former for sale forum admins. Cough cough.
  20. Fallout Boy cover is cool. I tend to like any rock/metal covers of mainstream songs. e.g.
  21. I was quite sure of it being the Vintage until I zoomed in on the headstock.
  22. My god. That was better off unpublished... Aria UK look like total amateurs.
  23. Vintage V950
  24. I've had two L-2000 Tributes and sold both. Always thought they were great at the time, but suffered with the 'they aren't really popular' feeling. Also the L-2000 electronics never really made much sense to me, generally used it passive in parallel settings.
