I sold my Bongo 5HS recently for £1300, which I thought was pretty good (I paid a lot less). I know the new prices have gone up a lot recently, but unsure how that translates into any change in sales.

No, the NG2 is the normal model, for the 2 pickups. So this is an NG3. I'll have a mooch on TB cheers.

I'm looking at the replacement switch option. Perhaps it is a ploy to get me to buy a normal Combustion too . I thought individual switches for each pickup (on/off) would work a treat, and to be fair they do that in the Canadian models.

I've been wanting a Dingwall for a long time, but never saw the right one for me. The Combustions I tried felt great but the sound didn't inspire me (I think it was the preamp) and the NG-2's I tried, I didn't like the colour of (fluorescent highlighter pen colour palette). So I waited. I put a deposit down on an NG-2 a couple of months ago, but decided to hold fort for this instead as it showed as being on order at BassDirect, and oddly not reserved. When it landed and appeared on the website I decided to take the punt, and I picked it up on Saturday. Everyone knows about the NG-2s so I won't detail that, but the obvious difference is the addition of a 3rd pickup and different switching options. They are: 1. Bridge 2. Bridge/Middle 3. Middle 4. Neck/Middle/Bridge This wasn't known to me when I ordered, I think I would prefer the option of the neck pickup alone, but would lose the middle pickup alone option and also the 3 together (replacement switches are available quite cheaply from BassDirect, and appear solderless). Thankfully, Dingwall routed the bass nicely so I can have the pickguard off also if I wish (my preference at the moment). Soundwise, of course - it's brilliant. Current favourite positions are 2/3 with a slight mid cut.

I've had 2 Bongos, and whilst they were absolutely stonking basses that played liked butter and had so many tones available - I never felt like it had a personality of it's own. I'm on a Jazz and Precision now, may get a Stingray to mix it up. That aside, the Chinese copy pictured here, is an absolute crime against my eyes.

If they cared a lot, it wouldn't happen to start with. Lots of people getting butthurt feelings over something mundane.

Perhaps i'm thick skinned, but I wouldn't let this experience let me cut off my nose to spite my face, and not get the product I wanted at the right price.

I've a Jazz Deluxe Ash. It's amazing and my only qualm is it's fairly quiet for a 18v preamp but it may be the pickups. I may change them, but not in a rush.

Bias aside, I love the Bongo headstock. Looks like a bladed weapon.

This isn't limited to shops. I had an email ding dong with Strings & Things simply ASKING I they could get Bongo pickguards. Them: We don't deal with the public and you need to speak to your local EBMM dealer Me: I know that, but CAN you get them?! Them: You need to ask your stockist. Me: Yes but then they'll ask you won't they ? I just want to know if you can get stock of them to avoid wasting time. Them: I'm dyslexic sorry. Yes we can.

True my 96 was like that. But it looks weird on a HH.

I must be in a minority here. I can't help but see the new ones and think they look like copies of a Stingray (more frets, pickup shape was better without gap between screws, looks like a frog now), also the roasted necks just look dirty. Sure i'd try one out, but the original never gave me a problem.

Nah. The EICH was cheaper and more suited to what I want.
