1. BB414, circa 2006-2008.
2. Yeah i'm going with this too. My Korean one really feels the same as a German and there is no visual difference. I think the best value instruments in the world are coming from Korea and Indonesia at the moment.
3. Does anyone know why they stopped the Korean Pro series? Mine is just as good as a German made instrument (I had a Corvette $$ a few years ago).
4. Wow that's lovely. Very organic.
5. Sounds like you're really happy with it. When are you selling it?
6. The 55-02 and 55-60 (FKA Joe Osborn) are both 22 fret which leads me to suspect the necks are probably identical. I have a 55-60 and used to have a 55-02, and the neck sure does feel familiar. In terms of sound - obviously different. The 55-60 is unmistakably a classic sounding J bass but I wouldn't go as far to call it polite (not how I play it anyway). The 55-02 can do that sound too but a few others thanks to the humbucker, coil tap and preamp. I have considered adding a preamp to my 55-60, but it sounds so good as it is i'm reluctant to mess with it. Overall, it's down to a compromise between looks and versatility. I find the 55-02 to always look a bit dull without a pickguard and the fairly boring colours it comes in.
7. This is how all fretboard lights look to me.
8. I had a Contemporary J 5 string and it was well put together, but lacked any real character. I didn't keep it very long, maybe 3 months. It's a shame it didn't work out as the idea itself was good. Understated looks and initial high prices may have put a few people off.
9. I tried a MIM Dimension and it looked well made, but plugged in was totally uninspiring when you can get a G&L L-2000 for about the same or less. The Squier may be a better price point and probably sounds the same.
10. Not sure what this will really add to the product, other than zeros on the price.
11. Only whales can hear it.
12. Looks like a F#
13. Only 35.5" scale for the B string? Pointless.
14. They were £950 or so new so it would have been a great deal.
15. I sold a rare Spector Q6 Pro in Holoflash for no good reason in 2007 and regretted it. One came up for sale last year at BassDirect and I snapped it up. It isn't the same bass but it feels like it is.
16. I already have
17. I did think it was a bit slow on my phone even on 4G.
18. Bass into Zoom B3 then into amp but the B3 is mostly used as an expensive and overly complex tuner :/.
19. I'm not sure really where in the market these go. The Jazz is fair enough, it'll sell well I imagine with the fairly unique preamp and Marcus is actually associated to Jazz basses (that headstock shape is fugly though). The M3 has nothing in terms of relevance to Marcus and looks like the lovechild of a Traben and Ibanez SRX, I don't think black is the best colour for it as it looks like a metaller's bass. The red and brown ones (couldn't they think of a cooler name ?) do look a lot better. I'd be interested in trying both however.
20. Hahaha you jokers. The Lakland is going nowhere ever. I'm trying to think of something I'd give it up in place of. No results found.
21. Here I am a year later, time allowed me to tell what I really wanted. I've sold the Variax (for a good profit) and am also selling the T-40 (at a loss unfortunately). Before selling either though I acquired a Spector Q6 Pro, I used to have one about 8 years ago and regretted selling it. When one popped up at Bass Direct in the same rare finish (holoflash) i just had to have it. I did a trade for the L-2000 and yes I do miss it a bit, but am happier overall with what i've gained. The T-40 is a tone machine, but I just can't see it sat there not being used a lot compared to the others. I'm hoping to buy a Warwick Corvette Pro series with the proceeds when it sells (one I tried at Bass Direct which I really connected with). We're in a better position financially than I expected with the little one so I don't really need to sell anything, it's just GAS (it always get you eventually).
22. Am I the only one who finds his videos annoying ? I think it's the repetition at the start telling me to go to the website for more lessons on every one.
23. I didn't even consider a US Fender over my 55-60. I totally bought it on a whim based on colour .
24. I tried 3 in Birmingham and 2 of them were faulty. One was totally dead and the other one of the pickups was dead. Try before you buy but don't expect a lot. The Chaos 5 I nearly went for but know deep down whilst it had the pickup config I wanted, wasn't great quality.
25. A one hour gig was no problem but a 3 hour practice killed me. #ymmv
