1. Changed the battery too ? Does it happen in passive mode ? I also had a similar 'fault' with my G&L which turned out to me the cable not being 100% in the socket.
2. Yes, it also does the Telebass with the humbucker a treat. I'm keeping mine as an occasional rehearsal instrument but I won't gig it again anytime soon. It's unique and dynamic enough for me to keep as a curiosity/possible investment.
3. My T-40 doesn't get out too much. It does indeed do these sounds but it can't do a decent P bass I find.
4. You can't go wrong with this bass, or Lakland in general,
5. The pickups ate the SAME in both US and Tribute models. All US made. To say they're "half decent" in the Tribute is just plain wrong.
6. I use my amp for about 5 mins a month. Only when I'm home alone and my neighbours are all out . Even then I don't crank it that much. Any other times are headphones only.
7. I had a similar problem on my MIM 99 Jazz. The G string was A LOT louder than the others. Swapped the pickups for Nordstrands and problem fixed.
8. You may wish to remove the decimal point from your price or this is bargain of the year ;-).
9. Gig complete ! It was great. The lightweight meant I had had the combo in one hand and my hard case in the other, only one trip from car ! I was severely limited on setup time due to the other band on bringing too much stuff and impacting our sound check (we had barely 2 min) so I didn't get chance to play the EQ. So I ran flat and just cranked it. It coped well and I had to run to at about 6/10 master volume with the preamp not clipping at all. I could have had the master a lot lower if I'd allowed a slightly overdriven sound. I wanted to try out the parametric mid control but maybe next time.
10. I'll be getting one I expect some day, but it's years away currently due to cost plus I want a US one not a Combustion.
11. Seen XH558 4 times now and the 5th coming up at Fairford next month. It's awesome, but not as much as being stood 200 yards behind Concorde taking off with full afterburner, no fence in the way and feeling the hot air blast you whilst your whole body is vibrating.
12. I thought they were expensive before but a 40% increase ? Crazy and unjustifiable.
13. Gigging mine next Friday for first time so I'll update here afterwards =
14. Saw a USA SUB Sterling go for £230 on eBay last night, crazy.
15. Yamaha are inbetween I think. Definitely Ibanez for narrow string spacing.
16.
Very nice. Love a rosewood neck with white blocks. If your not going to be using the G & l, I'll store it for you, free of charge.
Thanks for the offer ! No.
17. Been playing it a lot this afternoon and it's still blowing me away. Absolute killer Jazz sound and the 35" scale allows the B to be just as articulated as the rest. I've never liked green basses before but this one is special. I couldn't miss out.
18. Tried this out in GuitarGuitar in Brum a few days ago and was blown away. I had no intention of buying it but it left such an impression on me I couldn't stop thinking about it. 4 days later here it is ! Behold the Lakland 55-60 Ltd Editon Teal Metallic: [Img]http://s17.postimg.org/r7jpjnc1r/IMAG0228.jpg" class="ipsImage" />
19. To give an opposite experience, Mark has let me try several basses from the top end of the price brackets I told him I had no intention of buying but just wanted to check them out.
20. Had a look here ? http://www.bassesbyleo.com/ p.s. generally 2nd hand USA L-2000s go for about 700, maybe a bit less.
21. The 5 wasn't so good for me. Tried one at a guitar show ans the body was far too light and it had dreadful neck dive. Sound was great though !
22. I bought a Contour 500 210 to replace an Ashdown ABM300. Not gigged it yet but even at home I can tell the difference. I'm not worried about needing an extension cab anytime soon ! My other advice would be to spend a little more and buy it from Bass Direct, you will get a better service if that matters to you. GAK are just box shifters.
