1. I drive past the Jaydee workshop daily and it still amazes me how a scabby looking industrial unit can make some of the most famous basses in the world.
2. Squier Bronco for me and no regrets. It was short scale which was something I didnt know when I bought it !
3. I'd put up with that ! Lovely looking instrument in a less than predictable colour
4. Hi - please see forum rules located here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?app=forums&module=forums&section=rules&f=19 You must state a price for your item and ideally include pictures here - not a lazy link to eBay.
5. Ah that explains it then . That's pretty much the sound i'm trying to get from mine but it's just too bright at the moment (and cutting the treble muffles the mids too much).
6. Machines

SOLD

I had a Q6 Pro (Holoflash black) - very tight and clean sounding bass. Shouldn't have sold mine .
7.
It appears to be this re-sizing that is causing the problems for some browsers on older (slower) computers.
Time to upgrade from your Commodore 64 . I'm running a 1.9Ghz Intel Mobile CPU with 0.5GB RAM (laptop is about 7 years old) and not having any issues with avatars loading.
8. Loved that video. Sounds like flats on that P bass ?
9.
I see that nothing's been done about this as another huge animated avatar (over 500k) has just appeared.
Sorry, that'll be my fault. I fell asleep on watching people upload avatars duty .
10. I haven't bought anything on eBay via an uction or from an individual for years. Having been faffed about a few times by NPBs and foreign buyers I got fed up. I now only buy from shops via Buy-It-Now and never have a problem.
11. I'm trying to avoid trying too many Dingwalls as I know I'll like them and can't afford one... especially this beast: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/ABZ6_LitemidnightBurst.html
12.
Down here, we're charged £10 an hour, and the worst I get is an Ashdown Mag300 on matching 8x10. Usually get an Eden WT800 ans 2 Eden 4x10's or an Ampeg 300 tranny head on an Ampeg 8x10... spoiled? Quite possibly, but I have been going there for 25 years!!!
Yeah - Robannas is quite a good. I've used that Eden rig before and was very surprised to see it there ! Certainly a step above the usual Peavey TNT mudbox in other locales.
13. Production 3 was October 2011 I believe.
14. Happy Jack - please be aware of the forum rules - you must state a price for what you are selling (it seems you know this so i'm puzzled by you telling people to PM you !). If you want offers or bid please list on eBay instead, thanks .
15. If everywhere else were selling them so cheap then he'd obviously be trying to take advantage of perceived loyalty. Since the cheaper bass is a one-off clearance you can't blame them - but only offering £50 in my mind means he's not that bothered about your custom or doesn't think you'll buy it from them anyway as the price difference is so drastic even if he tries harder.
16.
Anyway I'm not working today or tomorrow so will have to leave it with you to buy it from who every you feel has given you the best advice/ service etc
£50 off something £1299 isn't much (4%) - i'd be quite insulted if that was their best offer and i'd been going for years. Perhaps because you're such a good customer they're taking that for granted ? I'd go for the clearance one myself - there's just too big a price difference in this instance (for which I don't blame the higher priced shop).
17.
(And I will apologise profusely if moderators come a-knocking - my fault for typing before thinking!)
Best thing to do. They're some seriously over zealous power mongers.
18. Hard to tell from the pic - but it looks like just a crack in the lacquer which is only a cosmetic issue. Can't be sure - but it's not a typical place for a wood crack to form. p.s. watch out for moderators - they might tell you off for posting it in 2 places
19. I'm not too bad at 'demo slap' but tried this the other night and could not for the life of me get the left hand mute bit working - I just ended up fretting a note. More practise required .
20. My Dad has one of the Squiers you're talking about (even if it's a Strat). The neck is absolutely amazing - not anywhere near normal Squier quality and I would indeed put it on par with an MIA, fretwork is outstanding. The hardware also looks MIA (stamped - not cast bridge saddles) but the pickups were average (now swapped out for Vintage Noiseless). The body is hard to determine - it's covered in paint ! I think his one is early 90s (91 from memory) - not sure if that matches the time period you are referring to. I think maybe Cort put these out to impress Fender and got told to tone it down a bit to avoid embarassing them. (It does now however have a Fender logo on it .
21.
ooo get ready to be told off
Please do not simply post a link to eBay items. If you want to advertise here please add pics and a description and offer users here a 'buy it now' price (do not invite offers). If you do not wish to do so then please PM me and I can remove your post. Thanks.
22. Fender for me too - i'm afraid. Have seen a few Foderas up close and yes they are nice - but they just don't have any vibe for me.
23. One of my favourite sounds: Neck pickup, passive. Coils in parallel (down towards floor), roll off the volume (very important !) and treble a bit... huge fat funky P bass tone. Rolling off the volume seems to make a huge difference to the sound of mine when in passive mode - makes it sound much more 'old school'.
24. Another vote from me for the L-2000. Their lack of popularity is quite astonishing really and I can only assume down to the fact they don't say 'Fender' on the headstock. The versatility is truely impressive and it's not hard to hone in on pretty close P/J/Stingray tones. Perhaps because they are so chameleonic it's hard to isolate it's basic tone ? I suppose it's good that they aren't as popular as Fenders - a hidden gem.
