1.
From what I can gather talking to Stevie, it's all at Band on the Wall. It would be too much of a schlep between RNCM and BOW. Guess it's going back to how the first Bass Days were at Life Cafe. Small and intimate....
Nice idea, shame about reality. It's previous location was excellent and easily accessed, the new location is not as good for getting to plus I doubt it'll be as well known. Also, having a smaller capacity will make the event seem like it has gone backwards and not evolved - who wants to go to an event where there is guaranteed to be less than the year before ? I'd imagine the price of the tickets doesn't go down to reflect that. I think it's been left too late in the year to be changed and publicised.
2. Just fitted a set of D'Addario Chromes to my Overwater Contemporary J. The increased tension is at first a little concerning as you have to more a fair bit of force into the machine head to get it to the correct pitch, this also meant I had to adjust the truss rod to counter the increased tension in the strings themselves. After i'd tuned up and sorted the action, I plugged it in and wow - the definition is still there (I expected a lot more thud) but there is more fundamental with less oversparkly top end. I would say the overall tone is more balanced than with flats being more 'musical' and clear. Rounds still have their place as my main string but I do like the flats too. When I get my fretless back up and running I won't be putting rounds on it.
3. Looking good (the shirts, not ped). I'll be opting for the black one.
4. Definitely the design department producing the only thing they had left. Fender seem to be a bit like Gibson (although much less eccentric) with their new products, they bring somerhing new out for the sake of it being new. It's longevity is generally short and I can't think of many 'new' instruments that have been produced for more than 5 years beyond original models. I expect they will be bought by Fender fans that will focus more on the brand than what the bass actually does.
5. I had a Yamaha BB614 and the bridge was the usual 'bent tin' that causes people to change. I swapped it out for a £12 one from CH Guitars that was chunkier and it did make a positive difference. The standard bridge seemed to be too 'loose' in construction which affected attack and sustain.
6. I'd say £800 would be what i'd expect to see. Maybe a little more if it's a rare colour or absolutely mint.
7. If no price is added this thread will be removed tonight.
8. Well done 4000, you're only 15 months late .
9. I've got a Rotosound one (does most stringed instruments) and it seems to track better and quicker with higher frequencies. A 12th fret harmonic E is much better than an open E I find.

When you've had it a while why don't you do a full review ? Check out some of the other on the forum to get an idea for what to cover and what format to follow etc .
11. I agree - even if you don't like it and it isn't knackered you should be able to move it on for more.
12. If you've had it only 4 days have you tried asking the shop you bought it from if they'll let you take it back ? I've known some do that with a minor restocking fee.
13. I'm afraid I can only say it's a problem with your browser.
14.
I recently moved abroad (Germany). We know there are lots of people who are resident on the continent on this forum. Wouldn't it be nice to have a local branch? Just a forum with a sub-forum for each country or language?
Thanks for the suggestions. This forum is UK based but has a strong European membership, however it would mean as moderators we would need to be able to speak many languages to ensure it is consistent with the rest of the forum (and rules are adhered to). I don't think there is a particular demand for this but we are quite happy for someone to start their own website to cater for this niche if they feel so compelled .
15. I am unaware of any ban, to be honest it's something for a buyer to worry about. We can only give so much guideance before people must take on responsibility for themselves.
16. Whilst I think the guitar version does a decent job of sounding like quite a few different instruments (my Dad has one), the problem i'd have with it is that it will never LOOK like the instruments. Part of the fun of having different instruments for me is the different look and feel each one gives me.
17. Sorry - you have to set a price on this forum. If you want to auction it to the highest bidder you'll need to put it on eBay.
18. Alas it looks like i'll have to do the inevitable and recommend what i've just bought ! Out of the choices there i'd go for a G&L. The tonal versatility is astounding and I think they have more to offer than any Ibanez at least. As for Warwicks - I used to have a Corvette $$ which was nice, but tonally a bit too aggressive and the neck was horrid. But, you need to try a few basses out and see where you get drawn, no-one on here will ever make the right decision for you.
19. Anyone passing J7 M6 ? I have a car but it makes sense if someone is passing to cut down on fuel cost .
20.
I'll try one of these yet. Failing that I'll order blindly and probably hope for the best although knowing Chris at Overwater I won't be disappointed. I just can't get away from "try before you buy"
Be aware there is some variation in the quality of the flamed tops - it's definitely worth seeing it (decent pics are fine) before you order. Here's mine with it's new friends:
21.
where in birmingham will we be able to find you steve?
Get in the queue .
22. Yeah - the pickups and EQ are very alike the UK version in basic tone, except the UK EQ seems less in your face. Not zingy ? Well not flat, but with some treble boost it is VERY zingy, the harmonics ring like bells. Thankfully it can be well controlled, I particularly like the bridge pickup soloed and treble rolled off 100%, awesome.
