Having earplugs and taking regular breaks (outside or in the canteen) made it much more bearable I think. I just feel sorry for the people who have to stay all day near the Rotosound stand .

I played a few when I was there and they were very good. When I was there I had the option of a G&L L2000 Tribute AND an Overwater Contemporary J5 (Tanglewood) or a Dingwall Combustion. I decided to go for the 2 as I thought i'd be far more satisfied with 2 vastly different midrange instruments than one expensive - so far this has been the case ! Also read a lot of comments that the Combustions are good value but it's definitely worth the extra pennies to get an ABZ instead. And, in the time it's taken to type this up - Dingwall GAS has indeed been 'reignited' (see what I did there, eh ?! )

Anyone who goes there not expecting this is very naive . That Dingwall looks awesome in that colour, I like it.

The only thing I bought was a cheap 12 month subscription to BGM. Buying a bass there would be silly (unless you're really certain or it's a special deal) - you can't hear it properly !

Try completely rolling off the treble control (treble switch can stay on) - I find this seems to shift the mids (almost like a parametric EQ) making them much more apparent, especially using the neck pickup.

I went to the first Bass Day at the Life Cafe and found it more of a gig than anything else. I suppose with London Bass Guitar Show on the map too now then it's not a problem to diversify and be more of a bass specific gig than a 'show'.

RRP was £550, I got mine new in 2003 for £415 from GAK .

BigRedX - please bear in mind that the forum software is not written by BassChat and we can't really modify it apart from the basic skin colours and a few plugins. If parts of the forum just don't work at all then we can look into it in the background, but if you just don't like the way it does something or have to alter your mouse clicks slightly then it's not something we are going to prioritise.

My wife has no interest in my playing what so ever - but accepts my addiction. She's been to one gig and was thoroughly bored - i'm not offended though as I know she doesn't like any 'guitar based' music. But, she's keen for me to practice at night (quietly, with headphones - no slap !). Not sure if that's so I don't bother her in other ways and she can watch TV though .

Yeah bassists from all places are welcome but it'd be best if they were signed up here if they intended to come .

The problem is when they start to fray and look messy - nothing a lighter can't fix in a few seconds though .

For anyone curious but not sure what goes on let me explain. We all turn up at the location and bring any gear we want to show off or maybe try through another rig etc. If there's a fair few people we'll probably have some crude name badges on so you can possibly recognise some people from their membername. You don't have to have been on the forum for ages or post a lot to come along ! The event is as much about chatting to other bassists in your area as trying out other gear. As far as cost goes - we're looking at a £5 contribution on attendance at the moment (as long as numbers are over 10) to cover the venue and anything over that will be given to charity .
