1.
I use mine for both with no ill effect......
I assume that's a glowing endorsement making a late bid for understatement of the year? 😄 I'm going to have to get over to Bass Gear in the new year.
2. 14kg?!? That's one kg more than my tiny MarkBass NY121. I'm looking forward to trying some of these out in the new year. Thinking of seeing if I can find cabs that will work for both upright and bass guitar to save space and rationalise.
3.
Not with you, chum. I thought this thread was about what we DB players felt about that piece of music. I thought it was complete crap, and barely listenable. Hey - it's an opinion, OK? If you intended us to feel shock and awe simply at seeing those four names on one CD sleeve, you might as well have listed Bill Bruford, Ginger Baker, Neil Peart and John Bonham. They're all 'greats' but I wouldn't want all four of 'em on one piece of music.
+1

SOLD

Pre-Christmas bump!
5. I like 'em too. Mike Merritt also plays in the house band for one of the US late night chat shows. Look on the Premier Guitar website for the Jimmy Vivino rig rundown to see Mike talking about his gear. He's the son of jazz bassist, Jymie Merritt.
6. Hard to tell but some players use different strings for G and D from the E and A. One variant is to use Spirocore for the E and A and gut or similar for the higher two. This obviously doesn't make your search any easier! Someone will be along with more insight I'm sure but you could have a look at Gollihur's website and see if you can see something that sounds like a match.
7. I like mine a lot. It's better with the matching NY 1 x 12 extension cab for bigger gigs. Some folk don't like the tweeter which is fixed on the combo but adjustable on the cab. There's a thread on here about it but it's never bothered me.
8.
Lets not forget the women.
Quite right! Sister Rosetta Tharpe is cool too.
9. For a slightly different flavour, try Hollywood Fats, John Nemeth, Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Also look in the Basschat gig section and see if there's anything bluesy and local.
10. I had the same experience with a passive AB1. It felt great, the fanned frets are easy to get used to but it just sounded meh. Not bad, just uninspiring and "cold". My solution was to move it on and move on.
11. I had a Peavey TNT150 and it was ok. Only problem was it had one handle at the top & no casters. My poor shins..........
12. I've just bought a SansAmp off Lozz. It was a smooth quick easy transaction. Thanks Lozz!
13. "Is it really as simple as that? People with Markbass amps don't like Barefaced cabs?" No it's not Jack. I'm very happy with my S12T / LMII rig. PS - my handles are showing a little wear & tear but my shins remain unblemished. 😄
14. Another faultless deal just like all those outlined above. Thanks Dan!
15. Just bought a pedal board off Ian, a very quick and easy transaction. Many thanks Ian!
16. I have recently bought a pedal off Ryan, a very smooth transaction and clear comms. Thanks Ryan!

NBD MTD 535

Good choice! I love mine.
19.
since taking up bass, I've started watching/listening to bass players in the pub bands more. Some of the song they are playing seem quite easy.
Shhhh. Don't give the game away!

31 band Graphic

You probably can't get an 11 band rack mount graphic eq. That doesn't mean that a 31 band is the right tool for the job. The Guys are right - it's a lot easier to screw things up with this much power unless you are an expert sound tech IMHO. That's why very few of us bassists use them.
22. According to an interview I read in Bass Player, Nathan Watts, Stevie's long time bassist, tunes his whole bass down a semi tone. Personally, I would use a 5 to get round that issue but I appreciate that may not be an option for you.
23. I get your drift but given the lack of choice, I think it would be too much of a compromise for me. I'd rather have stuff I liked and a few extra cables personally. YMMV of course.
24. Having just googled what was number 1 when I was 7, it reminded me what utter crap was around back then. Puppy love, My Ding a Ling & Mouldy Old Dough. No wonder I was working through my Dad's old jazz 78s.
