South East Bass Bash No.8, Surrey, Saturday 1st November 2014
PTB replied to silverfoxnik's topic in Events
My thanks to Nik & Colin too. Good to see some friends old & new. I arrived just as Jack's talk was ending so I'll be looking on You Tube and trying it out in the privacy of my home! -
South East Bass Bash No.8, Surrey, Saturday 1st November 2014

Logistics mean I will now only bring my MTD 535 as I have to come straight on from a family event. If anyone would like to try it, just ask. It'll be in a gig bag with Rudy's Music Shop on it if you're looking for me/it. -
what amp do you use with your Barefaced super 12T
PTB replied to Kevin Dean's topic in Amps and Cabs
I use a Markbass LM II. I'm happy with it across a variety of basses from passive Fender Jazz to my MTD. I've had other amps but that was before I got my Super 12T. I do fancy trying an Aguilar or a Demeter with it one day. What sort of sound are you after? -
Enjoying them on iPlayer now. Not classic but good & I expect will grow on me more. Enjoyed Sam Smith too. This has been the best episode of Later I've seen in quite a while.

Good audition and a terrible one. And have I met the internet myth?
PTB replied to JimBobTTD's topic in General Discussion
Yep.....guitar owners are not necessarily guitar players. -
Going back to Markbass after GK ( choice of two heads )
PTB replied to flippyfloop's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have also used GK, a Streamliner and MarkBass and have kept the latter. What I do prefer is the sound of the 500w analog power section to the digital 800w. I have never needed to run my LM2 over half way on the master so this suits me fine. I do fancy trying a TTE 500 at some point but that's GAS for you! -
Also subscribed. Thanks Jack, I'm looking forward to adding some new twists and turns to my back maintenance regime.

I know a guy who added grille cloth because the yellow wasn't right for blues. It sounded great as before. He removed the big logo too. Oh the things we do to please band leaders...... :-)

Up for sale is an early 90s Squier Jazz Bass in good condition. This is a Korean made bass with a low action. The white finish has aged nicely. There are two very small marks on the front just behind the bridge as you'll see from the photo plus a couple more tiny marks on the back. The bass has 40-95 D'Addario XLs which have hardly been played. The bass comes with a strap but no case or bag. Collection is therefore preferred but I will box it up well if postage is needed. I'm looking for £170 and shipping will be in addition if required.

How about natural with a tort headstock and a LPB pick guard? :-D

I found the answer to this, particularly when I was learning to do long double bass gigs, is to turn the amp up and play with a much lighter touch. The fatigue in both hands is greatly reduced and I prefer the tone.

I empathise with your situation. You don't say how you move the bass about. My bass bag has wheels on it which means I rarely have to carry it. I regularly walk for 5-10 mins pushing the bass along to one central London venue that you can't park near to. I certainly couldn't carry it that far! If you don't have wheels, I would recommend them as I would be in the same place as you without them.
One word - endorsements!
I suspect most bass players at festivals will use IEMs and feed a DI to the PA so what kind of bass amp is on stage is irrelevant to what the crowd hears. It's likely to be whatever they endorse or whatever the promoter provides, as others have said.
