1. I have lost a stone & a half since September so I've asked for a smaller belt. I can now fit into clothes I bought a couple of years ago so it already feels like I've got a new wardrobe. Will be trying very hard not to put it all back on over Xmas :-)
2. I suspect it's more likely to be the connection between the amp & speaker. Check the connection at both ends. I once had a similar thing with a cab and the cable had come away at the speaker end & just needed re attaching.
3. I am also a fan. I use the CMD121P combo & NY121 cab and, for me, it gets the right balance of tone, price & portability. I am sure there's plenty of stuff that excels in one or two of these but for me, MB works & has proven reliable after 300+ gigs in 5 years. It also sounds great with both double bass & bass guitar. I also own a LM II head & an old MB 3x10 cab but can't recall when I last used either.

5. Hope you enjoy them both. Personally, I'd want a Lakland in the Burns' colour scheme.
6. I use a Boss LS-2 which are readily available second hand. You can match the levels of your two basses and it allows a variety of functions well beyond the normal A B box.
7.
Just read an interview on Pino Palladinos website that mentioned a book I have....
Could you please share a link to this website. I couldn't locate it. Thanks,
8. I'd love this to complement my fretted 535 but you'll have to make do with a bump. GLWTS.
9. Hope it went well for you and your son, the first of many. I'm accompanying my daughter later today who is delighted with a distinction yesterday in grade 5 popular singing. Her younger sister will be on keys. It feels great knowing we all enjoy making music together.
10.
I tried a few recently and really found it hard to adjust, Especially on a 5 string! All that meat behind the thicker strings just made the neck feel HUGE! Personally, i'm not a fan at all.
If it felt huge, it was huge I expect but not all asymmetrical necks are. My MTD 535 has one that is quite shallow and feels great to me. I don't really notice the asymmetric part whilst playing, it just feels good to me. I certainly wouldn't call it meaty. Having said that, I have owned & played many basses without this feature & I have never wished for this as the missing ingredient. All I am really saying to the OP is that necks are very personal like most tactile things. I think that you need to ask Ruach if you can play some of their basses with different neck profiles to see what you prefer or take them in your favourite neck as a template/starting point.
11. If I come up to Loughborough again in January (and it's only an if just now), I'll let you know. I can bring mine up with me. That might be as good as it gets unless you want to come down south where there seems to be a cluster of 121p's and helpful BCers.
12. A beauty! Oh for a sudden windfall......
13. Having sold my own Metro earlier this year, I'd say that was a fair price. I'd still haggle though!

Banjo pickup

Have a look at Elderly.com. They stock pick-ups for all sorts of acoustic instruments and are good to deal with.
15. I remain very happy with my B-Band Statement. This consists of two wing p/ups + one under the bridge foot like a realist. These go to a bespoke pre-amp that allows you to set two different blends between the wing & foot p/ups & foot switch between them. I find the sound good, it's very resistant to feedback and engineers are always happy with a d I from the pre-amp. The blend function is my main source of tone shaping on a gig. The bad news is that this was discontinued a few years back but B-band still do a simpler p/up - has anyone got one?
16. I'm a fan too. They're back live in London next May & I plan to be there.
17. Yes, us again in our usual monthly slot at The George IV, 185 Chiswick High Rd, London W4 2DR. We'll be on around 9. It's always a good crowd here - do say Hi if you're able to stop by.
18. I bought some Velvet Blues off Dan. A smooth deal with good comms. Thanks!
19. I do like a happy ending!
20. Mrs PTB plays too. Happy to help.
21. I see that Burrito Bass has a Jazz with a P neck up for grabs in the For Sale section.
22. Once they are in the SE, I would also like to try the 112 & 1126. Unfortunately, I just don't have the room to act as host.
23. I wish I could attend but work takes me away over half term :-( Mrs PTB took her fiddle there a few years ago and had a great time. Darryl Scott was one of the tutors that year along with Ron Block from Alison Krauss' band and Casey Driessen so it was a great line up. I'm sure you'll have a ball & look forward to hearing all about it.
24. I'm also happy with my Tom & Will case. I bought mine from their website IIRC. www.tomandwill.com
