EZbass Feedback

Just conducted a textbook deal with Chris. The amp was exactly as described and communications were swift. Sadly, I was unable to sample his famous hospitality or ogle his bass collection as I had a nipper with me but I can recommend him as a fine member of the BC community.
3. I thought your VPF might be set high. It can sound good by itself like that but as the others have said, it doesn't work in a band situation. Let us know if the advice above doesn't fix it.
4. I have not experienced this with my MarkBass & Music Man gear. I much prefer it to TE & Ampegs sound wise. How are you setting the amp eq & filters?
5. Thanks for posting Clarky. Mrs PTB is a huge Darrell Scott fan so we'll definitely be there.
6. Great sound, tasteful playing.
7. Would love to be there Clarky but it's my daughter's 18th. I will keep my eye open for future dates. Hope it goes well!
8. Dan bought my amp in a very smooth, quick transaction with clear communications. Deal with him in confidence.
9. The tweeter on the cab is adjustable, the one on the combo isn't. I have no issues with the tweeter but have heard of one DB player who had it disconnected. Never heard of a bass guitarist who disliked it but they may exist. You are welcome to have a go on mine if you are local - I am on the phone so can't see your location.
10. Another fan here. I keep going back to the Sharon Jones & Eli Paperboy Reed episodes.
11. I have the same rig as Lozz but mostly use it for double bass. I can confirm that the combo is fine alone in a band context so long as your band mates are not driving 4x12s. In my band, with Vibroverb & Bassman combos, it's fine. Having said that, after owning just the combo for over 3 years, I added the NY121 cab last summer & wished I'd done it earlier. I find you just get more of everything rather than more low & it's somehow easier to fill the room without having the stage volume too loud.
12. I'm awaiting this from Amazon and have read this thread with a sense of disappointment. I've enjoyed a lot of RT's work and Buddy Miller's other productions so will reserve judgement until I have heard it.
13. Glad it went well WoT, I've enjoyed following this thread.
14.
Charlie can do anything.
Yep, he even sorted out Mrs PTB's fiddle years ago.
15. I recently bought a Squier Jazz from Stef for a friend. Easy deal with good comms and a pleasant meet-up in Brighton. Thanks Stef!
16. Who's sorry now? Perhaps not......
17. I double with a MarkBass CMP121P combo & 1x12 cab & I get plenty of compliments on my sound even if not my playing.
18.
Sorry to go off-topic - I have only used garage band to do ringtones for my phone and nothing more. if it's a cut down version of Logic, is it possible to use it as a notation program? i.e. for manual input of transcriptions? or am I barking up the wrong tree? Thanks
Sorry, I do not know whether you can use it for notation. It does what I want it to do! Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable about these things will be along soon.
19. Wow, I'm 3 weeks older than this fine bass! Now where to find the funds......
20. Imitation is the sincerest form of larceny.
21. Hasn't it got GarageBand ? I think it's standard depending on how old your Mac is. GarageBand is a cut down version of Logic and suits me fine.
22. I use a simple adapter - 1/4 inch jack socket with a mini-jack plug. It was a few quid from Maplins. I did have a Focusrite unit but it was overkill for me.
23. I answered 1x12. However I use this with a 1x12 combo. With my amp head, I use a 3x10. Almost as much sound as four tens but I can lift it!
24. We begin 2013 with another of our monthly gigs at the George IV, 185 High Road, Chiswick. Always a good crowd and we'll be playing three sets of blues and swing starting at 9pm. Entry is free and I hope you can make it! Here's a taster for those who haven't heard us before. http://www.youtube.c...1&v=FM7FoX6g2nU
25. Blues is a broad term so it might be worth trying to narrow down the style of your prospective band. Just as a starter, I'd suggest listening to Chicago blues such as Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, Buddy Guy & Junior Wells. Then try Jimmie Vaughan (with the Fabulous Thunderbirds and solo), the Hollywood Fats band (Larry Taylor on upright) and Stevie Ray Vaughan (Tommy Shannon on bass). These will stand you in good stead whatever style of blues you end up doing. My only other comment is that a lot of blues bandleaders want a retro look & sound too. Your rig should be fine but you might find they turn their nose up at a Warwick. Just treat it as a good excuse for another bass!
