2. I never do it anymore since I lent a Quadraverb out for a guitarist friend to use at a gig and I never saw it again.
 3. Fender part number is 0021956000 http://www.allparts.uk.com/output-jack-p-4562.html?p=product
 4.
It's gone mate - you've got Rock Hard music in Old Wolverton, and Hollywood Music in Stony Stratford - both the other end of the city.
When did Milton Keynes become a city?
 5. I think I just did a little sex wee.
 6.
I really don't know how you gig that thing!
+1 And why would you? I have never used more than 1 pedal while gigging.
 7.
Anyone know a good place in London to get- a) pickups fitted bass set up (intonation, truss, action etc) c) insides properly screened?
http://home.btconnect.com/aguitar/history/aboutus.htm I've had work done here before to a very high standard: Andy's Denmark Street - I believe it's called something else now as Andy sold out but he still does most of the work - he just didn't need the hassle of running the business.
 8.
Quick answer - buy a BBE OptoStomp
Just bought one of these £55 BIN on the bay.....I hope you are right. It's coming from Liverpool - I do hope it gets here before next Wednesday!!
 9. We've been reviewed umpteen times over the years but I recently found this after the re-release of our first album last month: http://www.threeimaginarygirls.com/recordr...epicgardenmusic which is one helluva good review. My favourite bit:
The following track, “Clocktower Lodge,” is slower and more atmospheric, recalling some kind of damp and foggy winter day. Despite this, the bass continues to chug along and drives the song down the dimly lit, soggy motorway.
WTF?
 10. When we split up I was really rather pissed off. I then jammed with a couple of lads I knew through a crowd I drank with but tbh one of them just wanted to be in Metallica - how depressing I took up playing keyboards incredibly badly and was invited to join another signed band (playing keys!!) by a bloke in the pub who had previous to my time played in the band that had just split... I took up home recording, got myself as was then an Atari 520SE and the 1st version of cubase.... Now I have a pretty decent home studio running Sonar7 and Reason and VSTs I have learned a rudimentary knowledge of music production and the technical side. I have had tracks released commercially with 2 different bands playing on 2 different instruments. and what's more the original band that split has now reformed almost 20 years later!!! and I can't even read a stave!!! so my advice is go drinking with the muso crowd and be prepared to whore yourself to anyone LOL
 11. I cannot believe there are people posting here who have never heard of JJ nor heard the stranglers play!!!!! Are you really all babes in arms or something? Twig Walking on the beaches, looking at the peaches...
 12.
i play in the Quireboys www.myspace.com/thequireboys
MySpace is blocked here in my day job office... Would that be the same Quireboys that had a #2 UK album entitled “A Bit of What You Fancy” in the 80s?
 13. I play in this band: http://www.last.fm/music/Sad+Lovers+and+Giants as in my sig. We're a genuine 80s originals band with many album releases. 14. http://www.fender.co.uk/products//search.p...rtno=0350100306 Ashbory Bass
The Ashbory Bass brings back what was referred to as "the epitome of originality: the most innovative bass guitar ever created" in Guild's® 1987 literature. The 18-inch fretless scale and super lightweight body make it easy to create the growl of an upright or the punch of a standard electric bass. The patented Ashworth transducer and the silicone rubber strings are what make the Ashbory so unique, but the sound for live and recording applications is what makes it a necessity for any recording studio and a treat for any live performance. Available in Black, Frost Red, and Moon Blue. A sturdy, specially designed gig bag in included.
I'm probably gonna make myself look like a total ignoramus here but I've never seen one nor even heard of them before!! An 18" scale? Silicon rubber strings? WTF? Tell me about them
 15. Hmmmm tempted....very tempted
 16.
don't beat about the bush now will you :)
i suspect he might be after trying that too...
 17.
I used a two-channel amp, .
Is the right answer. Remembering to set levels for each channel at the soundcheck.
 18.
Customs officers have keys which allow them access to TSA locks. They don't have the keys to an ordinary padlock you've just bought from B&Q, which is why they would not hesitate to cut it off if they wanted access to the case. When you ask "Will a leather belt around the case be adequate security these days?", what sort of security are you talking about? Enough to stop the case coming open accidentally? Probably. Enough to stop someone either nicking your pride and joy or worse still, slipping something dodgy into the case? Absolutely not. At the end of the day it's your bass, your case, up to you really. If you don't want to put a new hasp on the case, don't. But don't expect a leather or elastic strap to keep you or it safe.
Ok thanks for that I was unaware of the TSA approval thing. I have bought one of these: http://www.tripneeds.com/prosafe-900-tsa-l...reen-p-219.html and will fit a new hasp. Thanks
 19.
Padlocks are an absolute no-no if you're flying to/from/in the US, that's for certain. It's more and more the case in general these days too. The best bet is to use a TSA lock. These allow those awfully nice customs people to rummage around in your bag without having to smash it all open.
That would require the addition of a hasp to the case though. How is that any different from a padlock anyway?
 20. I have a 5star case for my precision which used to have a hasp on it which allowed me to padlock it when I went on tour and had to stick it in the hold of a plane. This hasp has broken over the years and I will need to fly with this bass and case in a couple of weeks. I really don't want to drill the remains of the old hasp off and put a new one on - too much hassle. How do you guys keep your basses secure when flying with them? Will a leather belt around the case be adequate security these days? Advice please.

Does it look like a salvagable bargain?
 22.
I've had two Kay P copies, mine were the natural finish, strip-ply neck, feels like it's made of lead
Sounds like mine - a 'honey sunburst' with a white scratchplate and weighed about 200lb LOL I'll have to see if I can get it down from the loft and set it up and sell it.
 23. I was bought a Kay P-bass for £30 new by my Dad when I first took up the bass. It was the worst lump of wood to be palmed off as a 'musical' instrument ever to grace this planet. I've still got it somewhere in the loft. It was almost impossible to play, the neck was fat the action about a mile high, the frets were in the wrong places! It's a wonder I ever continued to play......I couldn't wait to get a proper bass!!
 24. OL so my serial = JV80694 recorded here just in case like# which makes mine Oct to Dec 1983 see here: http://www.21frets.com/squier_jv/serialnumbersanddates.htm
 25.
Bear in mind that yours is an 84
I bought it in 84 (sold as new but I believe old stock) but tonight I'm going to check the serial to establish when it was made. It is EXACTLY like this one here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=26004 - but mine is a little more 'mojoed'.
