2. painfully slow here I can load 5 pages on other forums in the time it takes to load one on here
3. Where have all the attachments gone?
4. We're bombarded by requests via our FB page from promoters wanting to put us on. Those that can put a workable deal together get the gig.
5.
hang on, the singer wants to do an instrumental???????????????
He's getting on a bit
6.
If you've done it on your DAW then you'll be able to go back on listen to each part solo'd to work out what is playing what.
I'm not sure I've still got the project. If the band reject them then there's no point in keeping them IMO. It was 5 years ago DAW has had a hardware refresh since then....
7. We've not done much band stuff lately, maybe a rehearsal every 5 or six weeks or so just to keep in touch. We have done the odd bit of work on the never ending album recording process but we've not been together in the same room for a while... Anyway - emails start flying about this week and it's decided we'll meet up next week and do a 4hour session.... thing is the singer has decided he wants us to rehearse an instrumental I wrote about 5 years ago with a view to putting it on the album and playing it live..... I can hardly remember it. I am expected to come to rehearsal and teach everyone their parts. I don't even know my own! I haven't got a scooby how to play the keys or the guitars..... It was one of those bits of music where you play a riff into your DAW then improvise over the top of it on other instruments and comp what you've got together into something that seems to have form and structure.... Why can't the band decide they want to use my stuff when it's fresh and I can vaguely remember what key it's in? Ever find yourself in this kind of pickle?
8. Two electric 'ticking' clocks on the office wall that aren't quite in sync
9. http://basschat.co.uk/user/43808-billietep/ Shut it down!
10. 4x fretted 4 1x fretless 4 1x acoustic 4
11.
There is a law, in cycling clubs....... "How many bikes do you need?. One more than you already have". It works for musical instruments also.
I'm now finding it works for camera lenses too.
12. Brain>Fingers>String>Pickup>Cable>Amp>Cab HTH
13.
Never been happier and haven't had bass GAS since I got it.
Likewise - my EBMM USA Sterling has completely cured my bass GAS...I've moved on to photography GAS which, believe me, is far more serious and damaging to your wallet.
14.
That being said, the few actual Music Mans (Music Men?) I have played I havent liked the weight of or the neck, but the sound has been killer.
My EBMM USA Sterling is fairly light with a fantastic neck. Yes I've seen some heavyweight SRs but comfortable MMs DO exist. I suggest you play more
15. I log straight in to 'View New Content' - rarely wander elsewhere unless I'm looking for something specific
16. Is it a sea bass?
17. I had totally forgotten that when we recorded a radio session in Los Angeles last March, our merch man wandered around during the session with my DSLR taking video....anyway i found the footage on my SD card the other night and cobbled together this video! 18.
I spent the early part of my musical career tuning up to " yeah that's close enough"
Every time we tune the sax at band practice/gigs the process ends with the player saying " that's good enough for jazz..."
19.
but if you're trying to match, say, a recording of a rock song from the 70's to a drum machine, you're probably going to have a hard time.
In a modern DAW you can make a 'groove map' from a varying tempo track and trigger drum samples from it - it's not really a problem anymore with modern software and confusers
20. In the analogue tape days it happened all the time. Often songs would be slowed down or sped up slightly at mix down thus rendering them 'out of tune'.....I know we've done it more than once back in the 80s It was often done for various reasons: 1) it sounded better that way 2) It covered up a timing error 3) It was easier for the vocalist to sing 'in tune' etc etc
21. We do it all the time. It's part of the writing process. if we didn't we'd never know what was played last time!
22. My 2017 USA Sterling 4HH
23. I picked up a brand new USA Sterling a few months ago. I ordered it unseen from USA as I wanted a 4HH MH and there were none in Europe. It is perfect
24.
Headcrusher by Megadeth. proper gives the wrist a workout
IS that what people do along to Megadeth? I must say I had my suspicions.
25.
I've just listened to the box set that Twigman posted about. Sad Lovers and Giants' five disc compilation; http://basschat.co.u...-a-box-set-out/ I have no regrets on this purchase.
WOW! Thanks
