Do you listen to the Lyrics or the Music.?
Twigman replied to bubinga5's topic in General Discussion
No, never have. It's something I want to change Blue
The question was: Do you listen to the Lyrics or the Music.? . So, if neither, what DO you listen to? -
Pedaltrain - The zip handle came off one of mine within the first 2 days. that was a PT Junior I have a Nano softcase that has been used for over a year now with no problems. They're not flimsy but not particularly padded either.....thick stiff canvas.

Is there a way to de-gloss a high gloss poly finish without resorting to sanding?

It doesn't seem to matter how much I 'baby' a bass it still ends up with chips and dings... I've ceased worrying about it. Then again I don't play super expensive basses.
I looked up the Ovni Labs review of the BBE unit. Apparently the new version (with moustache) is one to avoid.
Not tried it...mine is the old white, yellow and red one with the -15dB pad switch

It amazes me that someone can buy a head like this and want rid of it so quickly. It was never going to sound modern. It's Mesa with design influences from the guy at genz who made the Streamliner.... It'd probably suit me but I'll stick with my puma while I hunt for suitable valve warmth from a pedal ( Eden glowplug? EBS valve drive?)...because it fits in my hand luggage easily and weighs nothing..
OK, I will: They are classified among Varanidae, are indigenous to Africa, Asia and Oceania. The largest example is the Komodo Dragon.
We had one to hand out the milk at break in primary school
That's my surname! I want one!
My surname is Gibson. I've never wanted one.
Get a long lead or wireless , then get well out front and have a listen there , out front is where it counts ,
I do this at most soundchecks but an empty room sounds way different from a room full of punters...
Probably not much help but I think National Express run a coach service between Heathrow & Gatwick for about £25. Not sure how late this service runs though.
Missing the point. We have rejected the out from Gatwick back to Heathrow proposal. If he wants us to come and play these gigs for him he has to fork out to change the flights. Not our problem. He should've read and understood the T&Cs he agreed to before he tried to make short cuts. And don't then cry about how much it's going to cost. Why would anyone think they could get away with that?

How do I remove a Stingray pickguard?

The BBE OptoStomp is less than a ton. I like it
I've learnt more about basses, bass gear and bass playing in those five years than I did in the previous thirty-five. So it was worth spending all that money, wasn't it. Wasn't it?
I'm trying to convince myself of exactly that too
Not really selling the act to a promoter here..??
Most of the promoters we deal with do a great job, have obviously read our T&Cs - there's often a problem with the tech rider but that might be local availability issues...but this current dude - never played in portugal before so new promoter.....he hasn't a clue what he's doing, it seems.
-
If a promoter neglects to book our 100kg luggage allowance with our flights (seats only it seems) (at ungodly hours) then how does he expect us to bring our instruments? Never mind the proposal to fly from Gatwick and return to Heathrow...so how the f*** am I supposed to collect my car from Gatwick? or will he front the £90 odd quid taxi ride to Gatwick and the £70 odd ride home from Heathrow? (for each of us) No...thought not (normal plan is car share to airport and pay in advance for long stay) Why would he think providing 2 twins and 1 single would be acceptable when we quite clearly stated 5 singles were non-negotiable? He begged us to go play.... It's not rocket science. Promoters: LEARN TO READ If we get there I wonder how far the backline will be from the specification on the tech rider? This doesn't bode well. Unprofessional is the kindest way to put it. Doesn't this ever happen to you guys? Those of you who've been promoters please feel free to explain the behaviour of this particular dude.
-
and promoters I'd just like to point out that putting us on is never going to make you, me or anyone else rich..... and Mr Promoter, you think you're not making enough? - put yourself in my shoes, buddy, you cheapskate - we have to put up with shitforbrains like you!
-
Promoters..... they don't lsten to sh*t do they? They screw up bookings, complain about the price of flights, forget to book the luggage allowance, screw up hotel bookings, complain about how much everything is costing them...etc etc IF YOU'D ACTUALLY READ AND UNDERSTOOD OUR TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT THEN YOU WOULD'VE GOT IT RIGHT FIRST TIME AND NOT HAD TO FORK OUT FOR CHANGES BECAUSE YOU WERE BEING TOO MUCH OF A CHEAPSKATE TO DO IT PROPERLY IN THE FIRST PLACE. They really are a bunch of crooks, aren't they? They come to us and ask us to play for them. We communicate our T&Cs. They accept those T&Cs They then take every shortcut in the book in an effort to do it on the cheap. We then point out that those weren't the T&Cs. They start crying about how much it's costing and that to change stuff will cost them more. Well you should have done ot properly in the first place, shouldn't you Arthur Daley! and as for whining about how much it's costing then perhaps you should put a bit more effort into the promotion and getting the punters through the door. God I hate promoters...
The vmt version of the ultra is going to be really interesting, will the bypass sound be completely the same as the b7k, or will it have some of that vintage loveliness due to the era function?
I suspect the VMT ultra won't have an Era knob....the new VMT deluxe doesn't - it has the same controls as the B7K http://darkglass.com...dynamic-preamp/

Before I joined basschat I had lived for decades (yes decades-plural) with just 1 bass and 1 hard case......and for much of that time no amp (rehearsals used house gear/gigs hired backline) but basschat has induced me to spend hundreds if not thousands of pounds.....I now have 4 and a half basses, 2 guitars, 2 amp heads, 2 cabinets, several pedals, 2 pedal boards, 4 hard cases, 2 gig bags.....and I've still got GAS. basschat can damage your bank balance.
-
I think if I were to get my grubby hands on a Precision that would be the end of my GAS as I'd have all my basses covered. A Jazz, a Ric, a Musicman and a P.
but then you'd need 1 of each strung with flats and rounds and 1 of each without any frets....

having watched the Billy Sheehan demo of it I'm blown away by the way it has the dry and wet signal effect loops and comes with TRS Y splitter cable ...the sonic possibilities seem amazing... but It's not a real tube is it? Just a simulation.... hmmmm
