1. I've used mine in the garden to train plants against fences etc....
2. 2016 is looking to be a landmark year.... We played a total of 2 gigs in 2015, both in Italy - next year will be different. Playing 2 gigs in Portugal for the first time in February. London (The Garage) first Saturday in March A tour of the west coast of USA (8 gigs and a radio session) in March (visa dependent - crikey it's a daunting process getting visa'd to play USA)... So 11 gigs in the first 3 months Then i suspect we won't be doing much more after that as Tony will be totally tied up with the A&B acoustic tour and a summer of DJing although the offers for SL&G gigs are flooding in.
3. I had a Kay Pbass copy which I got new in about 1980. It was awful. It weighed a ton and had an action a mile high. GARBAGE
4. My JV doesn't have a skunk stripe...did some have skunk stripes?
5.
I play with a lot of different guys and find myself using my eyes as much as my ears sometimes, seeing the stick about to hit the 4 in a fill really helps keep it together. so many times we've heard compliments about how tight the rhythm section were, yet we were only tight to each other, if you put a click to it you'd see how far out of time we really were.
Oh yes - i do the same - I guess that's why I find playing live so much easier than recording It's a far bigger problem for guitar, mind, as delays form a huge part of our sound,,,there's nothing worse than a delay that drifts out of time/ Drummer refuses to use a click and we don't use midi triggerable delays.
6.
No left hand bass on the piano at all is the one way I could work with keys. Your player is as rare beast.
We have (often) 1 finger electronic sounding keys in a register closer to the guitar....often keys are relegated to padded chords. It is possible to have keys in a band and still have space to play,
7. On facebook he's trying to sell it too....with this screenshot
8. AAh too late.....would've recommended this: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/274402-squier-standard-p-bass-special-sold-pending-payment/ and stick a set of Aguilar AG 4P/J-HC pickups in it: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Aquilar_traditional_pickups.html
9. My TecAmp Puma 900 has more than enough ooomph for me.....the advantage of classD (compact/lightweight/portable) far outweigh any (imperceptible?) placebo effect on tone/oomph of an A/B.
10. Volume knobs (like motorcycle throttles) work both ways
11. It helps if your drummer can keep time. Accelerating rolls so that we always get to the 1 a fraction early often makes the bass sound sloppy - it's not as predictable as it sounds.
12.
Ah.. My issue is with a bass that has a Maple neck - A Roscoe its currently retro fitted with gaffa tape fret markers at position 3, 5, 7 etc.. its effective just not elegant.
I used to do the same but I found that under hot lights they could slide around and they leave a nasty sticky residue that isn't too kind to my neck finish..
13. OK so what I've gone and done is bought a SKB iSeries case!!!! At least it has wheels. OK so I won't have either my Mono M80 or my Protec Contego at the destination but as the SKB has wheels that's not going to be too much of a problem - unless the local transport can't accommodate the SKB... I now have more than enough casing options: SKB iSeries Custom ABS full flightcase 2 x SKB bass Safes 5star wooden hard case Mono M80 Protec Contego
14. I live in Dunstable and it's not far to this guy: http://www.raycooperguitars.com/ I've used him and I believe Lozz has too
15. fretfx LED fret markers Once fitted they can be removed, leaving no trace but you won't be able to use them again www.fretfx.com
16. Just bought muself an SKB iSeries 5014 case. I really don;t think I will ever again worry about the condition of my bass on a flight. I've seen youtube video of an iSeries being driven over by a 4x4 and thrown off a cliff and the wine glasses inside have remained intact. It was not cheap, mind. Peace of mind never is. And the bonus: it's got wheels!!! 17. We're doing it right now to fund our planned US tour in March....first time we've used it...the pledge campaign went live yesterday. http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/sad-lovers-and-giants
18. How much does a rehearsal room cost? If you look at it as another rehearsal with some other people in the room then £40 for the band for the night doesn't seem like much to lose.
19. http://www.pledgemus...vers-and-giants This is our first US tour ever. We need help to make it happen. Thanks
20. Warmoth - that's what i did (3 times!!) www.warmoth.com
21. Easyjet: no chance if you've got any normal hand luggage too. Often they force hand luggage into the hold too - happened to me many times. I always check my bass into the hold anyway.
22. 7 is code for jazz bass A is the neck profile (not nut width)
23. Seriously Butt a feeler gauge of the desired height up against the nut on the fingerboard side. File the nut until the file makes contact with the feeler gauge.
24.
File the nut down gradually until it buzzes unredeamably on open strings. Then unfile a couple of stokes.
That made me smile.
