1.
The only thing I'd do to change the bass if money were no object is replace the reverse tuners, not a major problem they are just a bit annoying.
what's annoying about them?

3.
with some genuine 1970s grot in the philips slots. Delicious.
What flavour grot?
4. The wattage of the amp is irrelevant really. It's down to how efficient the speaker is in converting that electrical power into moving air.
5. No problems in my band. Been together on and off for over 30 years. We don't play many gigs. We have a great laugh when we're away together. One of our number works with a very big act for his day job and reckons coming away with us is infinitely more fun.
6. We're looking at an 8 date tour of the west coast of USA in March. We need P1 visas. there are 5 of us. We know a I-129 petition needs filing to USCIS before we apply for our P1 visas. We plan on taking our own sound engineer. I read on the musicians union website that crew need a seperate petition applying for. If that's the case then I suspect either the tour won't be econimically viable as via an agency like Tamzidat that would add at least $1825 to the upfront costs or we'll have to leave him behind. - That would be a shame as he is a founder member of the band and we really need someone who knows us to be FOH behind the desk - so many 'in house' soundmen get it so wrong. We'll be playing 8 500ish capacity venues. Anyone been on a tour like this and understand the protocol for sound men?
7.
It's not that one is it? I came across that amazing precision that sold on ebay two weeks ago. It was listed and priced as a '71 but if you look at the pics it was actually a legit '61 in superb condition. Someone hit the BIN after less than an hour being up. Damn.. 8. is it still in the Big Box Storage building or did it move?
9. I squeeze my Mono M80 into a bass safe. I had to remove the foam from inside the bass safe and I can't use the outside pocket. Even then it takes some effort to pull the latches closed. I'd love a 1" shorter M80.
10.
. Sometimes I'm amazed when someone tells me a song is about whatever cos I have never listened that closely.
and chances are they'd be wrong. Some of the theories I see on youtube comments about the subject matter of our lyrics give us a good laugh -
11. Just having an under lubricated, slightly on the small side pilot hole, can't find the right screwdriver kind of a day. Not a good day in the Twigman bass assembly plant.
12. Bass hardware is all made of cheese...well maybe not the hardware itself but the screws that fix everything together - they're all made of cheese: Bridge screws - gorgonzola Pickup screws - boursault Tuner fixing screws - camembert Saddle height screws - brie Pickguard screws - livarot Anyone know any suppliers that make appropriate screws that aren't made of cheese?
13.
I was about to try and get a fender jazz with moses neck,
Are you watching that one on ebay too?
14. I agree. I'm in love with my latest creation - a Warmoth DinkyP with a Status Jazz neck. It is the nicest bass to play that I've ever owned and it sounds fantastic.
15. PiL were far more entertaining.....and that band with the yellow P and girl singer on guitar - I liked what they did. DD not so much
16. Looks like these so prob legit. http://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?t=30670
17.
In 35 years of gigging I have never once been asked by either the band or the audience where my Fender bass was.
me neither - however our guitarist complained that my new bass 'isn't even Fender shaped' - the other night.... So what?
18.
This year's lecture by Brian Eno was far more interesting and well delivered.
Eno was a total bore. He didn't look comfortable and rambled on and on getting nowhere fast. An hour or however long to 'define culture' and never getting anymore interesting than the dictionary. YAWN! and that Mark Radcliffe - could he try any harder to be John Peel mk2? he's even adopted his voice.
19. Did the JB57 have the raised A? I know my JV62 doesn't.
20. http://www.abscases.co.uk/ This lot sorted me out
21. Actually just stripping the chrome off a chrome bridge with HCl should leave a nickel layer underneath....hmmm I might give it a try.
22. Found a chrome stripper that 'works' on aluminium. http://gaterosplating.co.uk/Nickel-and-Replica-Chrome-Stripper.php
