Crikey! Edit - Scratch that - I accidentally was looking at an old order

Can the Genz footswitch work with the streamliner and switch between presets? It's supposed to work on the shuttle but I didn't get one for mine.
So you're building a Fleabass? Si
Not exactly NO hahaha Wait and see
I reckon it'll look pretty cool. The scratchplate sounds unusual, do you have a link?
To the blank? I bought a sheet from Warmoth like this: http://www.warmoth.c...-P1606C862.aspx but I only bought 10" x 12" - i didn't need 10" x 16" - it is being shipped with the bass body. It will be more like a stingray scratchplate than a pbass plate, as it won't go down to the knobs - one reason why I got the green pearl inly knobs.
4 string I suppose?
Aye just the 4 - it's all I ever need

I really ought to have the Warmoth website blocked on any computer I use. I spotted in the showcase a gloss black dinky p body which was hanging around in there for a few weeks and I started getting urges to buy it and build something with it. I then started to get interested in Status necks so a plan came together. The dinky P is a sort of cut down p bass body with a rear control rout so designed to not have a scratchplate. see attached pic I thought all that expanse of black would be a bit featureless so am going to stick on a custom shaped green pearl plate. I have spoken to TheBassDoc about the possibility of having him make the plate but have also discovered that there is a brand new CNC machine here at work which has so far successfully already made a custom pickguard for one of my colleagues' SG guitar.....so I might give that a go. Anyway the planned spec is:- Warmoth dinky p gloss black body 4lb 5oz before pickup rout - ordered Status Jazz neck - ordered Gotoh GB640 res-o-lite tuners nickel - ordered Babicz chrome bridge - got it - nickel ordered chrome will go on the P/J that currently has a gotoh201 Hipshot 3 string chrome string retainer - got it Fender original precision split pick up - got it Q-parts chrome mini knobs with green pearl inlay - ordered (also ordered black chrome as unsure which will look best!) Custom 4 ply green pearl pickguard - blank material ordered pearl green/white/black/white Passive pots (CTS 250k) - got them Mono switchcraft jack - got it Chrome neckplate on black plastic pad - ordered Fender strap buttons with black felts - got them After much debate I think I might get a local luthier to fit the neck - I have been warned that the Status graphite isn't the easiest of stuff to work with so might leave the drilling and screwing to a pro for that bit. Anyway - I shall keep you all posted What do you think of my idea?
Great spec!
I understand that harmonisation schemes exist, and that US resellers are increasingly offering this service. But, for the OP, I don't see where the element for UK VAT and import duties is, in the figure quoted. The item in question is priced at $1,499, which works out circa £950. Add in the postage charges and the price at checkout is circa £1,050. Where's the VAT and duties element? Add on a correct VAT and duties assessment and the OP ends up saving circa £50 over the street price here. You could negotiate £50 off of a £1,399 purchase here, in the current market.
I think he'll find if he adds the item to his basket and then goes to checkout and selects shipping to UK the price will increase somewhat. It did for me but then I was happy to have the VAT and duty paid. Although I find getting stuff delivered to work and then paying the UPS man in cash works better because UPS make the VAT invoice out to my work, which effectively makes it recoverable
Local (US) taxes and duties?
Nope UK import taxes and VAT I recently imported something from Musician's Friend and all UK VAT and import duty was prepaid. I was a little concerned at their lack of comms and posted a thread about it here. They hand the deal off to their International agents 'Borderfree' who actuallt ship it. It works - eventually.

I have a friend with a Status neck on a jazz i think i'll ask to borrow that for a session or two first. I am confident that I should be able to do it myself. I know I'll need to drill and countersink the neck fixing holes...<top gear> how hard can it be? </top gear> and mount the tuners I have assembled 2 Warmoths before now, it can't be that much more difficult.

I use a Zoom H1 in a mic stand in the middle of the room - It does an awesome job

I am curently gassing for another 'build'.....I am thinking a very lightweight P but this time with a Status neck. At the moment it is purely aesthetic - I have never played a Statud graphite neck. Tell me about them. What do they feel like? What kind of profile do they have? What kind of sound do they make? Am I completely bonkers?

http://nypost.com/20...klyn-bloodshed/ I can't imagine why they would have sacked such a level headed fellow. Edit: OH WOW! MY Apostrophe works again!!!!!!!!!!!! # now for some serious abuse.
-
so do i but i am not normally guilty of apostrophe abuse I just tried to type another and firefox refused - Not responding - had to crash close firefox then it gives me the how embarrassing dialogue before restoring basschat.....
-
When I try to type an apostrophe in a reply to a thread firefox hangs....is this the way things should be?
I think how instruments feel is probably the most under-rated aspect of quality.
That is my number one criterion which is why I love my warmoth so much and leave my JV gathering dust

It seems that someone in my band has given an interview in the next issue The Big Takeover magazine. I confess to not having heard of this rag. I see it is a US based rag....anyone know anything about it? I assume it's no Rolling Stone. I am curious as to who got interviewed (nobody has fessed up yet) and what they might have said! I assume this is not our big break stateside? http://www.bigtakeover.com/news/big-takeover-73-ex-smiths-guitarist-johnny-marr-cover-about-to-ship-subscribers-update-your-address-asap
Anymore reports?
I was waiting until it disharges before writing a review but after 2 4 hour sessions it still has 2 of the 3 charge indicator lights lit.....could be longer than I thought.
is one better than a dynamic microphone?
that depends what you are using them for
On the Four Front M-Track Quad is equipped with four inputs that provide the best results with any type of audio source. Each offers an XLR input and a balanced 1/4" input. The XLR input is designed to work with microphones or other Lo-Z sources. The phantom power switch delivers 48V to the XLR inputs for use with professional condenser microphones. The 1/4" input can be set to receive a line level signal, or switched to allow an electric guitar or bass to be plugged directly into the M-Track Quad. Individual gain knobs ensure the proper input level.
1/4" to 1/4" will work fine
Do yourselves a favour buy a Zoom H2 for recording rehearsals You dont need a desk you need to hear the sound you make in the room
I have a Zoom H1 for exactly that - stick it on mic stand in the middle of the room...it's amazing how many ideas would get lost if it wasn't for that
Ah. In that case...
Absolutely - recording audio with a midi interface is going to need a miracle of some sort.... I've often seen folk on the Sonar forum complain that they've recorded their midi but can't hear anything.....never heard of anyone trying to record audio through a midi interface though.
