I think i'll just add to this thread now that I have had my S12T for a few weeks. I have rehearsed 4hour sessions weekly with my band with my S12T on an Auralex gramma pad and it just keeps getting better and better. The dispersion is amazing - it does not matter where in the rehearsal space I am the tone of my bass is now fully audible to all - it seems to fill the room - i have never experienced anything quite like it! I am driving it with a 'mere' Hartke HA3500 which is more than ample to get some serious volume and after a few Eq tweaks and balancing the tube and SS pre inputs I am close to my perfect tone now.... I find it light and easily manageable - it fits lengthways in the boot of my Mazda6 under the cover without folding the seats , leaving half the boot free for other stuff.....although whether it will fit in aToyota GT86 (getting one soon) is another story - i might be buying a MidgetT at that point (but would probably need a more poweful head to drive it) but not as a replacement .The S12T will never be replaced.... Loving it.

I use a HA3500 into a 4ohm BFB S12T - it's more than plenty loud enough.....despite folk telling me I need a GB 600/900 all the time.....I can't see the point. The HA3500's only downside is its bulk but I do have mine in the wooden box. I used to use it with a 8ohm Hartke VX1508 and to be honest it does not seem that much louder with the barefaced, just a lot less distorted and much much clearer. btw Alex if you read this I am loving the S12T - the more I use it the sweeter it sounds,,,,,,I am very close to my perfect tone now - very happy customer.

[/quote] Yep I got 60% through the drum replacement - still got the toms to do....but I'm never going to do it. I used Audiosnap in Sonar to get the midi timing for all the drum hits, was identifying which hit was which manually and allocating it to the appropriate drum in my kit.....it was a very long tedious process which I am not going to finish. I had replaced the kicks and the snares and the hats, just really had the toms to do....

P with a J neck for me. I prefer the look and sound of a P and the feel of the J neck.

Do it the authentic way. Buy a nice new bass and then gig it for 40 years. To me that is the only way to relic a bass.

I have strung with d'Addario ENR71 half rounds recently - I came from flats (Chromes) and these seem quite sticky and quite rough (compared with the flats)...they certainly have some twang when compared with the flats - time will tell....

I just use Audacity to normalise (if I ever find myself needing to) and to check the mix after mixdown on some software that allows me to see the wave form. I have Audacity routed through a different soundcard (SonarX2 through the RME HDSP9632 to KRK monitors, Audacity/WMP/etc through m-audio2496 and Cambridge amp and Eltax speakers) so I can check on another system without leaving my chair.
