is it ok to use your index finger to fret a note then using it to bar the other strings so you arent using the pad of the finger but the whole finger instead?
Only you can be the judge of that, who else is even caring?

Use Pedalboard Tape - it is so much better than velcro. http://www.effectpowersupplies.com/pedalboard-tape-698-p.asp
I prefer Musicman Sterlings to Stingrays. I'd say it depends on the persons preferances in all honesty
So do I but own neither. It's the narrower neck width on the Sterlings that swings it.

I would have offered but am cabless atm but am just up the road from St Albans...
I'm trying to recreate an already existing beat as best I can, I doubt it would be in a beat-library. And at the unusual speed of 123bpm...
The beauty of using pre-programmed midi loops is that the tempo is largely irrelevant - they will assume the tempo of your project. Check out Groove Monkee and the like... I know the midi files from Toontrack (makers of EZdrummer & Superior Drummer) have been recorded using real drummers and can be used with any drum sample player.

Will a Mono M80 fit inside SKB Bass Safe?
Twigman replied to Twigman's topic in Accessories and Misc
I took a gamble and bought the SKB anyway and I can report that the M80 Mono does fit in the SKB Roto case.....but only just!! It took quite some effort to get the latches to hook up - I was determined not to be defeated....I suspect the new foam in the end and on the heel didn't help too much. I would not be able to use the exterior pocket of the M80 though, that must be empty to get the thing in. Hope this might help someone as mad as me. -
Mate, I know we don't get on,
Really? Hadn't really noticed.
but not everything I write is having a pop at you,
Do I really seem that paranoid?
you know. If we ever meet I'll get the beers in.
Scotch & Ginger, ta, a large one

your point? Try it, it works.... For years I've been trying to get fills to sound more natural.......drummers, in reality tend to pause before they start a roll...they've been 'in the groove' and then realise sh*t I have to do something else and it always happens 'late'....
-
what samples are you using? I find it best using a drum sample player that uses layered samples so that at differing velocities different samples play. [Battery3 for electronic sounding / Superior Drummer2 for acousticdrums] I also find that varying the velocity to reflect how a drummer hits his skins then adds a groove/ vibe to it - this will only work if the kit you play uses velocity layered samples.. Also vary the timing slightly as not all drummers are metronomic. There a few other tricks especially when it comes to getting fills to sound natural...eg put the fill 15ticks (of 960) late...this reflects the drummer's 'thinking time'.... Edit: oh and ghost notes make it sound more real and balancing the close and room mics (assuming your sample player has them) will probably create enough reverb in itself..

Ok it seems I missed something 'spectacular' over the weekend..... You can stop PMing me now. Thanks
Are you just trolling?
Nope It's an intro thread that reads like I should already know who the geezer is. I'm not psychic..... Having read a bit more of the thread it seems others do know him but I can't work out how they could work that out from the opening post. Meh
Hi All Just wanted to drop a line to say I do like popping in here and generally have the cockles of my heart warmed by the kind and respectful things most people have to say to and about me, which is why I'm generally glad to answer questions and give advice, (Usually just on what gear for what song for your Floyd tribute band, so, easily done..) By and large we bass players are a lovely lot. it would be ridiculous to expect there not to be folk who don't like me, and I often respect the opinions expressed, (even I don't like me sometimes..)Although, I would say to anyone who thinks that they're being witty by using my surname as an insult against me, you're really not. I think I was well within my rights to kick off at having my actual character questioned to the point of slander though (And by a moderator..Oh the irony....) But onwards and upwards, all water under the bridge. Cheers Guy
Guy who? That reads like I should already know you or something?
We need a Barefaced Waiting Room Support Group
How true is that? Having sold my cab weeks ago I have been cabless since....... 8 weeks in and the waiting is getting to me. Postponed a potential gig in Amsterdam due to lack of cab (no worries - it was unlikely to have actually happened anyway)..... My GAS won't be quashed until the cab arrives so have been comfort spending to help me through the wait.... all stuff I sort of need...Mono M80 gigbag (fed up of lugging a full flightcase around) and I've taken a gamble on a SKB bass safe, hoping the M80 will fit inside it (gamble because nobody was able to tell me) for when i have to fly next....oh and 2 sets of new strings to try as did a recording session on Saturday and it all seemed a bit too thuddy with my flats so going to redo the session on half rounds now..... Please barefaced stop me spending all my money soon and get my cab built. ha ha

Good luck with the wait! In week 8 of my wait for a S12T at the moment

I have them on both my Warmoths. I love them. Sorry but I don't know which fenders they are fitted to. I think it's the USA Vintage 62RI though

Will a Mono M80 fit inside SKB Bass Safe? I have bought a M80. It is dead light compared to my ABS full flight case. How did I carry that around for so long? I will still need to fly a bass regularly but would prefer to just use the M80 once I get to my destination. Mark @ Bass direct reckons I could fly with the M80 no problem but I think it needs a bit more protection so was wondering if a Mono M80 would fit inside an SKB Bass Safe case. Anyone know for sure?
I`m really interested in the Mono Vertigo - looks like a winner, and fairly sure I`m going to end up with one, which of course means I am.
Was put off the vertigo by being unable to 'hide' the straps out the way - at least on the M80 you can unclip one end and tuck 'em into a pocket
-
Just got an M80 too Do you reckon you could fly with it?
-
Anyone flown with a Mono gig bag? I've just bought one. I have a full fitted flight case but it's so heavy I hate lugging it around. How will a Mono case survive in the hold?

Similarly London 1987 Brussels 2013: Keyboardist f***ed up the intro... Another example of slowed down Perhaps we're mellowing with age?

The internet throws up some strange things....like how we have changed in 26 years. First up, we recorded this at a live show in valencia in 1987 - we had a different keyboardist and sax player than today - the singer has only recently taken up sax-but apart from that all personnel is the same: Valencia1987: Followed by Brussels 2013 Song evolution at work Perhaps we took to much coke/amphetamines in the 80s????? and the Brussels guitar sounds out of tune to me.

Starting a band from scratch. Long, sorry...
Twigman replied to Telebass's topic in General Discussion
Or you are an originals band and you need to write interesting catchy material with input from everybody. That takes longer you know.
what he said. Weekly 4 hour rehearsals are the norm during the writing phase. 2 or 3 4 hour rehearsals prior to a gig (we rehearse up to 30 odd songs from our catalogue for each gig - we only play 20odd) We only gig half a dozen times a year though. if we gigging every week then we would only need rehearsals for writing. -
Just for giggles, I want to trying hooking my Kilo up to a S12 to see what the result would be
Bleeding ears?
I wouldn't buy anything or even bother testing anything until you have your new cab. Gig it with the Hartke, then you'll actually have an accurate idea of what works and what can be improved and we can help advise you on the stuff to try.
Thanks Alex - won't stop me doing my homework but I wasn't going to shell out any more moolah until I 'need' to, which means after the cab.
