1. If you're after cheap strings I find these to be quite good http://www.dangleberrymusic.co.uk/c-58-bas...ar-strings.aspx
 2. the complete opposite of a good christmas song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtvrKTgo46s...PL&index=33 Anyone that does this as a christmas song should be ashamed of themselves
 3.
All I can say is playing that fast with a pick is easy and a lot less stressful on my hands!
Funny you should say that , I can't play half as fast with a pick as I can with my fingers
 4.
Made by Brazilian luthier Andrellis. Blocks, binding and pickguard are Brazilian Rosewood. Are there any more through neck P/Jazz bases, the only other one i saw was years ago,a Sattelite P type.
Wow , thats nice , wonder how much those go for ? Anyone ? Love the contrast between the Rosewood and Maple
 5. cant afford this at the moment but if you still got it in the year then i'll definately buy it off you , good luck with the sale , nice bass
 6.
Well, yes but not always by that much: Two of my basses: Fender urge Mk1, 4 string 19mm spacing. neck is 56mm across at the 12th fret. (and this is quite a slim jazzy neck) Ibanez GWB35 5 string, 16.5mm spacing (as is the SR505). Neck is 63mm across at the 12th fret. Both necks are of similar depth. So yes, the 5 string is wider but, according to string spacing, not necessarily by as much as you might think.
Thats exactly my point , my SR505 is 45mm at the nut, I had a 4 string epiphone that was 43mm at the nut and im sure most P basses are probably a very similar nut width to this
 7.
Yep it was very common, even the beatles did it,and discovered flanging in the process.
Ive always wondered if they sped up Hey Bulldog, I always have to bend my notes up to pitch when I play that song
 8.
That, plus I think there's a lot of bizarre generalisations going around. Sure, you'll find a Squier model or two that plays better than a Fender Mex that would cost you maybe a hundred quid more, but on balance most Squiers are still pieces of s***, and most Fenders are still pretty good instruments.
It depends what Squier , the classic vibe models imo are easily better than most Mexican Standard Fenders and IMO makes me wonder if it isn't the Mex Fenders that should have the Squier logo .
 9.
I understand that, but honestly, I don't see the advantage in a trade-off where you get a little bit of extra note access some of the time in exchange for a neck that's huge all the time.
My Ibanez SR505 has a nice slim neck not a huge neck at all , thats why my next bass (which will be another 5 string) will also be an Ibanez
 10. I seem to do the opposite of what most people here do , I turn the volume on my amp up way louder than I need and then I set the volume on my bass to taste (usually halfway is plenty) , I would rather do that and be able to boost the volume on my bass at any point should I need the extra volume than have to walk over to my amp to adjust the volume
 11.
NO intention to challenge voxpop here, but as an example of just how subjective this all is, I followed up on earlier praise for the Demeter Compulator and tracked one down a couple of years ago. I spent over an hour in Chandlers Guitar Experience near Kingston, completely uninterrupted by the staff or other customers, playing a variery of basses through a Compulator and into a decent amp. Nothing. Nada. Not a sausage. Bugger all. The most expensive pedal ever to do virtually nothing. Now that clearly can't be true because so many others have used this pedal and loved it. My hearing, maybe? Or my perception? Or perhaps it sounds different in a band mix rather than solo noodling in a shop? Could be it was just a duff example? Who knows. TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!
One of my g*itar playin gfriends had a boss compressor pedal like that , I spent ages playing with the pedal to find out if it actually did anything , the most useless compressor ive ever used.
 12. I had an SR900 a while ago , fantastic basses and Ibanez basses are very good in general , have a bump on me
 13. I cant remember who makes it but im sure there is a strap that goes across both shoulders so that it distributes the weight onto both shoulders evenly (maybe someone on here remembers who its made by) perhaps something like that might help
 14. I once played a Tanglewood Rebel 5 string , the neck was like a tree trunk , widest neck ive ever played
 15.
Somthing like an ibanez SR1000EFM prestige REALLY grabs my attention as they look stunning, and i like ibanez necks, but ive never played one...
Ibanez basses are usually a safe bet , ive owned a few and they've all beeen really good basses
 16. I love the Roto tapes , not mad about the gauges though
 17. Now up for sale @ £200 , collection only (or can meet up halfway if in London area), am in Croydon area , Is a fantastic bass for £200
 18.
I've just changed a couple of basses over to flats. Put some TI flats on my Fender Jaguar and it sounds beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Like a different instrument, almost. Put some Rotosound Tru Bass black nylon flats on a Franken p bass and it sounded nice and warm but not really what I wanted - I lost all the attack of the p bass, it seemed, plus a good deal of the sustain. Plus, until I got used to the feel, it did seem a bit like I'd strung it with earthworms. I've just this morning taken posession of Lateralus462's Squier VMJ fretless. Plugged it in with the fitted steel flats and it sounded great. After lunch I changed them for the Tru Bass flats I had on franken p and WOW!! I'll say that again. WOW!! It talks, sings and makes all the noises I ever hoped a fretless would make. I just need to learn how control the beast now. Plus the flats that were on the fretless are now on the franken p and it sounds back how it should. Happy chap here!!
The Trubass strings are awesome, very warm and thumpy sounding
 19. Bump , Anybody looking to trade , as mentioned before am after a more traditional bass (p bass , j bass etc)
 20. 21. Just ordered a set of Status flatwounds for my SR505 from www.status-graphite.com/ ,not read much about these strings just wondering if anybody has used these before ? Are they on the brighter or darker side of flats? How is the tension on these?
 22.
Heyyyy Everyone!!! Can anyone help me how much does this EKO 990 Barracuda bass? I have a chance to swap it for an Ibanez Studio bass plus cash from me. Does It (Eko) worth less or more than 300 quids? I really appreciate any suggestions. Please If anyone has an idea just post your opinion. I' m having cold feet to make a deal. Hi folks! I'm new here but I really like the BC site. I live in Hungary, but I'm going to visit the Island in July. Here we go. I have an EKO Barracuda Bass 4 string, full size all maple semi-hollow body, 4 position pick-up selector, chromed tail piece, fully adjustable bridge, Double T Bar neck. It was restrung this month with D'addario flatwounds, now It can sing if you want or with the neck pu only it nails the motown sound and a kind of uprighty sound thanks to the hollow body If you finger picked right on the fretboard! The bass was made in the 60's in Italy, I think earlier than 1965, but around that time for sure. I used to use It in acoustic group with flat wounds on it. I proudly can say It sounds fantastic. check this site aswell: http://www.fetishguitars.com/html/eko/index/barracuda.html If you have any questions just drop me a line: [email protected] or send a message through the forum. I'm looking for ??? pounds for It, but may consider sensible offers! Here's the pics:
If i wasn't so skint right now , id buy that off you in a heartbeat , are you open to trades ?
