2. Bump. Nobody fancy meeting up next weekend to swop basses?
 3.
You definitely not up for selling it? Not sure how much they go for, but they're £450 new I think
Hi , this is an older SR505 (1995 i believe) with 2 band eq (newer ones have 3 band) so im not sure what this would be worth , im not against selling, just not sure what they are worth
 4. OK , putting this up for trade , am looking to trade this bass, is a nice bass but am after something a bit more old school, if anybody interested, let me know what you got , you can see by my gas list on my profile my tastes are quite traditional.
 5. that bass is giving me some serious gas , im seriously considering selling my current main bass and getting one of these , the blue colour and the painted headstock are really nice touches, theres a nice picture of this bass on the squier website http://www.squierguitars.com/products/sear...rtno=0301078502 It also says something about the quality of Squier nowadays that he owns a Rick but is still up for a Squier signature bass

 7.
i basically want to sound like Kurt Ballou ( guitarist fom converge) but on bass. preferably not really expensive. Preferably no bass loss. i want a pedal that also feedsback nicely as apposed to squeal annoyingly which my current distortion does right now. no fuzzes. I play a lot of chords and i need the sound to be still detailed but heavy as hell. has anyone got any pedal recomendations? cheers, Matt
When I read the title of this thread the 1st pedal I thought of was the Boss ODB-3 but you said you dont want fuzz so that may be a no go (ODB-3 is kinda fuzzy sounding)
 8.
Hello basschatters, Looking to trade my Ibanez SR900, lovely bass only reason for wanting to trade is that i've gone off the tone that it gives as i've recently obtained a Yamaha TRB5ii and has a more jazzier sound which i prefer. The bass a few scratches on it and a bit of a knock on the head when it fell into a drum kit but i shall post some pictures soon, also will come with a leather Ibanez strap that i had imported from Germany. Ideally i'd like to trade for some kind of active 5 string active jazz, possibly a mex fender V, but i'm open to anything so if ur interested make me an offer. Any questions send me a PM. Also here's a review on harmony central [post="0"]http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Electric+Bass/product/Ibanez/SR900/10/1[/post] Pics up! The missing panpot is currently in my Brighton home so it can be retrieved (I'm in London at the moment).
I had one of these and they are cracking basses , ironically enough it was a jazz bass i traded to get the sr900 and I was amazed how good the tone of the sr900 was. These basses got a really nice tight springy tone and are really nice to play, good luck with the sale/trade
 9.
Do Alembics not come with the phantom powering module anymore then? 5 batteries is a bit silly.
For four grand it should power itself
 10. NOW WITHDRAWN , HAVE RECENTLY FALLEN BACK IN LOVE WITH THIS BASS Bass up for trade , I like this Bass a lot (and will probably have some regret about parting with it) but I am after something a bit more traditional. Bass is an Ibanez SR505 with 2 band eq , is one of the earlier models (95 i believe) and sounds awesome , is a nice player as well. My tastes are quite traditional and I am mostly into P basses and Jazz basses , if you fancy a trade let me know what you got and hopefully we can arrange something. Mark
 11.
Gona be gettin a new bass. yay! Its gona be a jazz body but i aint sure whether it should have JJ or PJ pickups. Anyone able to help me decide? im new btw so hi everyone
Hi and welcome, Personally I would go PJ as you can solo the p pickup and the p bass sound or you can dial in some of the j pickup for some more bite. Or you could rout a jazz pickup near the neck and have a JPJ configuration
 12.
Learn to play jazz. That sorta stuff is dead usdseful for death metal. As for Black metal, some is very simple, but there is one thing you definitely need:
Yeah I agree about the jazz thing , its funny how two styles people think of as being completely different are in some ways so similar
 13. Hi All , I have been playing for a while now but have recently been playing a lot more death and black metal and as a result have found that when it comes to playing such complex fast music I suck , now instead of throwing in the towel I was hoping somebody could recommend some death or black metal that is fairly easy to play, im never gonna be alex webster but hopefully I can use that as a building block and work my way up to some of the more complex stuff , thanks
 14.
Hi all, Just wondering, I've always been very conservative when it comes to strings and almost always just grab a set of Elites Stainless. However, I see 'Low tension' bandied around - how does this work when the string is at the same pitch? Does it feel weird? Any recommended makes to try out first? Cheers, James
Basically the tension of a string is determined by the gauge, materials used (eg nickel/stainless steel), whether the core is hex core or round core (hex core is higher tension) , how thick the core is, construction method (eg flatwound or roundwound). Basically two different types/brands of strings will require a different amount of tension to bring them to the same pitch, how much different will depend on the factors mention above. Low tension strings will generally feel looser and will generally require less force to pluck or fret a note , some people like this , others not , its all a matter of preference. I hope this post is usefull and not patronising (if it is then I apologise)
 15. Hi , Was hoping someone might be able to recommend me something , im after a decent, inexpensive, readily available overdrive pedal , nothing too over the top (no boss odb3 thanks). The bass tones i like are as per the links below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjJDjpjUuyM...=PL&index=2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdwlZ4g8OFI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfdlXKZbpB8
 16.

+1 , no audible benefits not worth the extra aggro unless your bridge is very lightweight in which case it may make a difference

 18.
Hello everyone I just joined yesterday. I have been playing bass for years without knowing a whole lot about bass guitars. I played a Westone in a shop yesterday. I had never heard of the make before and it sounded pretty nice. It is called Westone Spectrum GT Bass and the shop owner reckons it was made in 1985. It's in reasonable condition and on sale for £199. I had a look at some older threads and did a google search on Westone but I was hoping that some of you might be able to enlighten me on these guitars and whether or not it sounds like a good deal. thanks in advance Cathal
I know its not much help but I generally tend to think that a bass is worth whatever a person is willing to pay , I saw a Westone bass in a shop near me for £200 and would have bought it if I was not completely skint at the time, I would say try it and see if you like it , it will certainly be no worse than a lot of basses in the £200 range
 19. I like the playing in the verses on this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Oq9Houle5I nothing flashy but nice tasteful playing
 20. Apologies if this has been asked already (search was not too helpful) , Im looking to buy a Squier classic vibe bass and will be buying online and am trying to decide between the 51 p bass (single coil) and the 60's p bass (split coil pickup). Only problem is I don't think ive heard anyone play a 51 p bass (whereas ive heard loads of people playing the split coil p bass) , can anybody name any bass players that use 51 p basses ?
 21. bump before ebay
 22.
I've just finished listening to the Red Sparowes album, At the Soundless Dawn, and i started really liking the bass. With a lot of post-rock kinda stuff it is usually fairly generic, but i was really liking this; both the playing and the sound. For those of you interested, the track i particularly like is: "Buildings Began to Stretch Wide Across the Sky, And the Air Filled With A Reddish Glow" Just wondered if anyone else was diggin' it... or am i alone
I love this album , not the type of album you can listen to all the time but a great album none the less
 23.
Hi There, Hope there's a solution to my problem! I gig with a Ric 4003 and absolutely love the deep piano like ballsy sound. My second bass is a fantastic 70's stlye custom built Jazz. It's amazing to play and looks a million $, but for me it's lacking in the tone dept. It's equipped with a pair of great Wizard 64's and top quality CTS pots but just doesn't have that deep, ballsy bass tone that I love. I don't really want to part with it because it's so great to play and is one of the best looking basses I've seen, so would rather change out the pups or modify it to get the sound I'm after, if it's pos. Heard great things about Dark Star pickups, but only heard clips on the net, never heard one in the flesh so to speak. I know it won't give me the Ric sound, but it's a high output single coil with plenty of depth I'm lead to believe. Will it get me closer to the sound I'm after? I know there would be some routing to do, but that's ok. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Cheers, Mario.
I think SD Quarter pounders with a little upper mid boost are as close as ive heard to a Ric sound on a Jazz bass
 24.
Am after selling or doing a trade on my Ibanez SR900 , is a nice bass , however now that ive had the bass a while and the wow factor of the 3 band eq has worn off im finding that im just not an active eq kind of guy and am lusting after passive Fender type basses. Bass is in fairly good condition, has a ding here and there but nothing major . As said earlier , is a nice bass , good weight (not too heavy not too light), has a nice slender neck and has some nice features such as 3 band eq and through body stringing. In terms of a trade im after a Precision bass or something similar although I am open to suggestions. Unfortunately unable to ship so it would be collection or could meet somewhere in london , im based in the Croydon area.
BUMP
