  1. Hey, does it any serial codes anywhere? That would help loads.
  2. lol very true. My dad an avid Rasta would blaze reggae and lovers rock. My mum would love playing soca music.
  3. Man I missed out on so much epic music back then. My ear picked up the pattern straight away. I’m getting better 🤩 lol. thanks for the post @Reggaebass
  4. This is nasty. Dam it really hit me with the funk. Time to get my slap going.
  5. I’ve bought a 70’s Yamaha pulser bass from him around October. Experience was great. I know some people start in the 9th (tomorrow). why not give him a ring? You could then leave a voicemail if you don’t get through.
  6. Thanks for your experience. I may just give them a call actually.
  7. how did you find the pickups with this setup?
  8. Did you pull the trigger on these pickups? I literally found them this weekend and came on here to do a search.
  9. This has been a very interesting convo to read. I will second what you state about the nux Melvin Lee Davis pedal for home practice. I bought one recently. I downloaded the shift line bass ir pack also (has ampeg b15 can ir). Sounds cool with headphone for silent practice. I keep switching back and forth to amp combo with my pedal attached and just pedal and headphones as the headphones vs speaker moving air experience are different. The word “connection” really feels relevant. Not sure if it was you or another member who stated this. I don’t gig. It’s more a creative outlet for me. My friend who is a gigging bass player doesn’t like iem’s but when you are playing big arena’s and touring you have no choice. He uses a quad cortex pedal.
  10. The consensus from here at basschat and talkbass is the tonerider pickup is very similar to the seymour duncan sbp1 and the fender original 62. At a third of the price.
  11. These are definitely rotosound swingbass 66 strings. I have them on my p bass. Also what is interesting is he has Bartolini pick ups on the bass. paul Jackson used “HI-A” pickups which was the first version on bartonlini’s. They just changed the name
  12. I tried one of these at the bass gallery in Camden London. nice bass. Good luck
  13. I have these as well. They are not bad tbh. I use a nux Melvin Lee Davis preamp pedal with them. They do the job. They response to eq and different I.R cabs and amps. Down the road I will upgrade but I’m not in any rush tbh.
  14. Sorry to revive such an old thread. I wondered who the person you know who winds pickups s and if you have a link to get in contact. cheers
  15. interesting. So would you say the fender pickups have a slightly tighter bass and ever so slightly more articulation then? I’ve been waiting for a used pair to land on the market for so long.
  16. Just listened to clips. Definitely an output difference. Also like you said the fender pickups have a boomier bass. Would be interesting if when the volume is raised how the difference is. I recently bought a jap 70’s yamaha pulser p bass. It’s pickup output is 9k when I play my other p bass I notice a big difference and have to turn the volume down.
  17. The rotosound 77 sound rather bright for a flat wound string. I love the rotosound swing bass 66 when they are worn in and have lost the fresh sound.
  18. Now that video is funky 🤗.
  19. Thanks so much for this. When I get in I’ll listen with some good speakers and headphones.
  20. Cheers for the response. I may drop him a email. on his website he states the 74p is lower output but more articulate and tighter. Do you notice it lower output compared to the fender you have
  21. Hey. I didn’t realise you posted here 🙈. How was the waiting time on the pickups? It’s states month.
  22. I just got back from the Yamaha flagship store in central london. Yamaha own line 6 so I played with the xl stomp pedals. NOPE not for me. Way too detailed and imo over complicated. Just to adjust some EQ needed unnecessary steps to adjust. Just not for me
