NRD (New Rig Day) Mesa Boogie Strategy & Two Mesa 4x10 Cabs.
binky_bass replied to binky_bass's topic in Amps and Cabs
I had debated the 8x10 but there's no real way I'd be able to handle that physically without doing damage. The 4x10 cabs are manageable, though I'll no doubt still die from spinal compression at some point in the future! @thodrik, what head are you running your 6x10 with? -
So after a fair amount of faffery with GuitarGuitar (who actually have extremely good customer service!) I finally now have the full and complete matching rig in hand! And it is a MONSTER!! I've had more rigs than I can count over the years, but this thing is obscene. The volume is astonishing, I got it up to 50% volume on Thursday at Mushroom Studios and dared not go higher as I could feel the vibrations in my lungs (and I'm not joking!) The tone is simply stunning, deep and clear with crisp articulate highs. The ONLY downside is that it weighs 240lbs all in which I can forgive as the build quality is utterly flawless with no expense spared on build materials. I don't see myself moving this on ever, I wouldn't know where to start to get something better/comparable. Truly a remarkable rig, definitely need to keep up my weight training to move this one about!

A well crafted scarf joint will have absolutely no discernable effect of overall tone. The major difference would be through neck vs bolt on neck. As Bite Guitars offer only bolt on neck, I still can't see their point being overly justifiable. I'll take a scarf joint through neck all day long over a flat headstock bolt on. Just my humble opinion of course!

Why are your 'garage tools' all just giant knives??? 😂

Didn't see that part! A good long screw always does the trick!

@BITE Guitars You're comment on glued scarf joint headstock being weaker is simply not true, if you are indeed a fully trainer luither, or have one on staff, you will know this is not true. The correct joining techniques used with the correct glues will result in a join stronger that the surrounding wood. I feel that a lot of what you have said in response to some comments here are more to justify your design choices as opposed to being factually correct. This either shows that you don't have particularly good subject knowledge or are trying to pull wool over our eyes in convincing us that your techniques and designs are all superior than other manufacturers. You have a great test bed of enthusiastic players here and the one consistent comment seems to be a dislike for your headstock shape, should you not take this into consideration? We are all you potential customers and are mostly all saying the same thing to you. Worth taking on board I'd think... Also, if people want a traditional body style such as a P or J then they're almost certainly going to want the whole bass to reflect that style, this headstock will cut your potential buyers in half whereas having a more traditional headstock wouldn't put people off. I understand the want to be different, but you are doing it at the cost of potential customers. Can you not offer a more traditional headstock option for those who want it? If you want to be unique, then why not offer a unique body shape to go with your headstock? Just changing the headstock and keeping the traditional body seems like a recipe to minimize customers. I don't mean to be overtly negative, but the above is my reflection on your company from this thread and your comments within it, from other people's comments it would appear some feel similarly. As already mentioned, an update to the correct flag would also be wise. In the current climate of things I can imagine using a version of the Union Jack that was last flown 219 years ago could be enough to turn someone away. Unless you did that by design because you don't recognize Ireland being part of the Union? (Joke)

I've got 14 acoustics and basses on wall hangers, the rest of floor stands. I've ALWAYS used rawlplugs whenever mounting a wall hanger, I would absolutely advise you do the same, none of my hangers have ever moved and inch or looked at all wobbly over the years, and some have had to hold up some fairly heavy and expensive basses for the 4 odd years they've been in situ. Especially if you've only got the tip of your screw into the stud.

My above comment was specifically about the comment @SpondonBassed posted about vehicle destruction, not about these guitars! To be fair, these guitars were SUPER ugly!! Shame they couldn't have been repurposed but not a shame they don't exist anymore! -

9 lashes should be fair penance for your transgressions. Now bring me my drinking horn and have the jester sent in!!

There is a reason for this sir... I work for Ford Motor Company and we do the same thing. PP (Post Production) units are built prior to homologation, therefore they are not and can never be legal for use on UK roads. Yes they are functional vehicles, but they very likely won't conform to the legal homologation requirements that the end result 'mass produced' vehicle will. They're primarily used for final stage testing and because they are built for testing purposes they don't need to yet conform to final legal requirements, this does unfortunately mean that they must be destroyed after purpose with proof of destruction on record for audit purposes to prove that PP vehicles never make the open road! All car manufacturers will have a very similar process. The only other use for these vehicles are 'display pieces'. We had a yellow PP Mustang in our canteen for a few years! 😂 -
The only mistake I've ever made was thinking I made a mistake when I didn't. 😁👍

Why advertise the fact you welched on a deal? I dont get it... I mean these things happen, fine, I can accept that, but why broadcast it? All you've done is tell everyone on BC to never buy anything from you.

Because apparently that's all they had left when I bought them! I bought them from guitarguitar and they were advertised as both silver, they called up just prior to dispatch to say one was black. I'm currently in discussions for them to take the black one back (for a few reasons) and replace it with a correct silver one. So hopefully they'll be matched in a few weeks!
