I went into a large, well know, music store over the weekend to get rid of one of my basses (for a very good price surprisingly!), naturally while I was there I had a play on a few basses, and naturally gravitated towards the more expensive side of things! I played 3 different basses, all between £1400 and £2000 in price, and I was utterly disappointed with all of them! Each one clearly had absolutely no kind of set up whatsoever, the action on all of them was sky high, the fit and finish of two of them was really quite poor and they just felt cheap in hand... The fit and finish isn't the stores fault, but I would really expect the store to look at the 'delivery set up' of these expensive basses and adjust them where necessary, the Ibanez I played (which had a price tag of £1399) was borderline unplayable. I know action is reasonably subjective, but this was silly... In order to sell these basses, surely they need to present them in a manner that befits the price they are asking? As mentioned, the finish was particularly poor too, the rear of the bass looked pitted with noticeably uneven lacquering. The other two basses weren't much better, one being a Dingwall, which I was surprised at. With the Ibanez, if I was blindfolded, given it to play and then asked how much I though it was worth, I would have absolutely said sub £200 at a push. I was considering putting it down to being a bit spoilt in terms of what I'm used to playing, but I don't think that's the case as I have a mid-nineties Tanglewood Baron 6 string bass, and have owned a couple of Cort A6 basses and the build quality and general finish and tone (particularly on the Tanglewood) is remarkably good, better than some well know, eye-wateringly expensive basses I've played and FAR better than the three I played over the weekend by several country miles. Has anyone else experienced this? Playing 'expensive' instruments and being left utterly underwhelmed and somewhat surprised at the general lack of quality? Maybe the three I played were just not great examples, but I suspect that isn't the case.

Hi, So, I have listed individually the below 8 items which form a great expressive pedal board. I'm posting this additional ad incase anyone wants that whole bundle for a little over 15% off the total cost, I'm also happy to include free postage within the UK. This is what is included: Boss DD-20 Giga Delay Boss RC-20XL Looper Boss FS-6 Dual Footswitch (gone, will reduce price by £30) Rocktron Cyborg Digital Reverb Korg Pitchblack Tuner Schaller F-121 Volume Pedal (Passive) T-Rex Tonetrunk 55 (55cm x 32cm Pedal board) 5 way Power Brick to power everything If all bought brand new it'd be circa £600ish for the lot. I'm looking for £300 for the full bundle (less the FS-6) posted which is just over 15% less than the total cost in my individual ads. It's a great set up that can make some really epic, almost orchestral sounds. Collection from Basildon, Essex is also welcome. (Will knock a tenner off if collected!) Any questions, please ask! Russ.

Hi, The last of my pedals... This is a vintage Schaller F-121 volume pedal, it does the job nicely and is a good bit of vintage Schaller kit! It's a passive pedal so won't require a power supply which is handy! It is missing one of the 4 rubber feet, but if your using velcro on your pedal board, you'll likely be removing the feet anyway! Looking for £40 including postage in the UK. Cheers. Russ.

Hi, Yet another recent purchase that is now redundant after buying a Helix... one day I'll learn... This is a great duel latching footswitch, comes boxed as shown in the photos (stolen from the prior seller's thread!) I had intend to use it as a Solo/Mute footswitch for my Mesa, but I can set that up on the Helix so now no longer need thos handy little beast! £35 posted in the UK. Cheers, Russ.

Hi, Another recently acquired pedal that is now surplus to requirements as I've got myself a Helix. It's a great tuner, does the job very well and its quite small so doesn't take up a huge amount of room on your board. The top picture is from the previous sellers post, the bottom picture is stock. £25 including postage in the UK.

So I've only just bought this from a fellow Basschatter, but I have now bought a Helix so this is surplus to requirements! This is for the pedal board only, not the case. I've hi-jacked the previous sellers photo as it is actually in the post on the way to me now! 😂 So, £25 takes it, including postage to the UK. It's covered in velcro or you can use cables ties if you want to be more secure. The size is 55cm x 32cm. Suitable for 7 pedals plus a power supply (as per the T-Rex website). Russ.

Hi, Up for sale here is my Boss RC-20XL Loop Station. We all know what this does, it's a fantastic bit of kit, it's one pedal I've hung onto for a good while, having just purchased a Helix I'm selling all my other pedals to help cover the cost! £80 takes it, including postage to anywhere in the UK. If you need any more info, let me know! Russ.

Hi all, As I'm changing sets ups I will no longer need my pedals and thus no longer need this power brick! This is a 5 way brick and will power any 5 pedals of your choice! Works perfectly and does the job for cheap! Will even throw in 5 pedal power leads too so all you need are your pedals. £25 including postage anywhere in the UK. Cheers, Russ.

Hi all, This is something I suspect I will regret selling as it's been with me for years and it's just a fantastic bit of kit. I'm picking up a Helix tomorrow so need to shift my other pedals to help cover the cost. This reverb pedal is awesome, I love it. Simple to use and has an ability to create huge sounds. Anything from just a little background 'verb to huge Catherdal Hall type echoes. You can dial in the depth and rate and set up 8 (I think!) pre-set so you can create and keep you favourite verbs. It's also MIDI compatible. These are rare, and these are awesome! I will include a diago isolator with it as it's a US pedal so needs the Diago to prevent hum cycles when in a pedal chain, the isolator totally eliminates this so will come with the pedal! £70 posted anywhere in the UK. Cheers, Russ.

Hi all, I'm picking up a Helix tomorrow so need to cull a few pedals to help pay for it. Up for grabs here is one of the very best and most versatile delay pedals out there. I've had a few delays over the years and for me personally, the DD-20 did everything I could ever want at a MUCH cheaper price than a number of other options that are eye-wateringly expensive! I'm looking for £100 firm on this one, will include postage anywhere in the UK. You're also welcome to collect from me in Basildom, Essex. If you collect, I'll knock a little off. Cheers, Russ.

I've not really had a chance to fire it up properly as we've not had a practice since before Xmas, but just from home use it is definitely a formidable rig. The Mesa is concise and clear and all sorts of ferociously loud and the PJB cabs provide a very articulate outlet for all that Mesa power. Can't fault it as yet!

It is, and it will exterminate you.

So I've been after a passive, non powered, volume pedal for a decent price. I paid £25 for a Schaller F-121 volume pedal from the mid/late 1970's. Bit of a punt, though I have been assured it works. Has anyone used/got one of these? Are they decent? Have I bought a lemon, or worse... A lime?

That is literally 5 miles from me... to add salt to the wound I could have easily picked it up and met you somewhere with it! -
Very nice! Was tempted by the traditional 8x10, but my spine will not permit it. The PJB 12B is about as much as my cripple hook of a spine can take!

Seen these before, they always looked a bit naff to me... the tuning pegs ruin it. There are other makers of miniature guitars that look far better!

I'd be quite confident in saying 95% of us have gear that FAR exceeds what we actually need. Myself very much included! I like collecting and trying different gear, but I definitely don't 'need' 95% of it! If I stripped down to the minimum I needed to do the job, it'd be two 6 string basses (one as back up) with a circa 200w head and something like a 2x10 cab. But that'll probably never happen!
