  1. Sorry, my luither lingo isn't up to scratch! To me 'a lot of work and absorbing loads of finish' would class as stabilising it. I'd consider 'raw' to be unfinished, shows what I know! Now I'm not sure if the ACG is raw with just 'time and finish' applied or if it stabilised in the correct sense of the word (chemical/acrylic impregnated). Either way, I'm told the bass is now actually complete!!! Awaiting a full front and full back picture this morning, which will naturally get posted on here!
  2. It'll be stabilised, you pretty much cant use burl woods without stabilising them, especially Buckeye!
  3. That is a right wee nipper ain't it! The BayBee Bee Bass I bought from a fellow BCer earlier in the year is absolutely fantastic, and truly a useable instrument, so I imagine this is very similar!
  4. For under £100, go second hand. You'll pretty much only get trash for £100 brand new that will be worth £50 at best the second you've bought it. If you buy pre-owned, and buy smart, you can get something half decent, and if you don't like it after a week or two you can sell it on and break even or maybe make a few pennies which can be reinvested in another second hand bass where the cycle can continue! I did this with amps for about a year until I finally settled on something I really liked. Gives you a great chance to try what's out there without really spending anything other that your initial outlay.
  5. I've had a number of Warwicks over the years, some bought to sell, some bought to keep (including @lfalex v1.1's LX6 which only got sold to fund my incoming ACG build). The two I'm left with won't be leaving me any time soon. One is a Streamer Stage I 6 string, the other is a Thumb single cut 6, both are outstanding basses and have huge sounds. The Rockbass and Asian made Warwicks that have passed through my hand are perfectly serviceable basses, but nothing special. If you're after that 'something special' vibe, then you'll need to go full German. A 4 string BO Thumb could be bought for £650 - £750 on the right day and you wouldn't loose money re-selling it if you decide it's not for you.
  6. Count your lucky star that you swerved a U2 video!
  7. Any chance of a picture of the mini-bass next to a regular bass so we can better gauge its size?
  8. Hi all, Up for sale here is this beautiful Crafter SJC 420EQ electro acoustic guitar. The guitar is a jumbo body, so think Gibson J200 size. The top is a beautiful slice of highly figured birdseye maple with a bright cherry Sunburst finish. The action is nice and low and I've freshly re-strung it today (12/12/2019) with a set of Rotosound Bronze strings. The guitar will come with a faux croc skin tear-drop shaped hard case lined with black fur. These are quite uncommon Crafters, made in the early 90's and built to a very high standard. It's a lovely guitar and plays superbly. When I bough it, the battery cover was missing so I made a new one, you wouldn't know it was a hand made battery cover unless you really looked at it! I'm after £250 posted or £240 collected. I absolutely love Crafter acoustics but I have 9 of them excluding this one (all Anniversary Edition ones) and this one needs a new home! Any questions, please ask! Russ.
  9. Baroque nonsense? BAROQUE NONSENSE??? You're only 10 miles down the road from me, I'm on my way down now with a single white glove... prepare for a glove slap to the face and a challenge to a duel sir!
  10. I think a fair few people know of Binky and his Buckeye Conklin cousin!
  11. @flaviusm, the bass looks great! I have always thought Laurus basses look odd, you have made it look less odd! I was the recipient of the bass that @Hellzeromentioned was badly wounded by UK Parcelforce... Tony of course packaged the bass in a very over-the-top fashion, I honestly believe that if you dropped Tony's packaging from a 10 story building the contents would survive, however Parcelforce managed to destroy it! An almost impossible task... Couriers will always break things because they simply just don't care, they do not get paid enough to care and most companies pay 'per delivery' so couriers are incentivised to act with hast and no care.
  12. Mike Walsh of Zoot Basses is in Witham, 5-10 mins from Chelmsford. I've used him for a few jobs, always very good.
  13. FYI I have a set of P-Bass pickups, a P-Bass wiring loom and an old but useable set of strings if anyone wants cheap parts to finish this!
  14. Hi all, I'm selling this rather beautiful Mesa Boogie Electra Dyne all valve beast of an amp. This is the much rarer 2x12 version, and yes it might weigh a chunk but it is one of the best sounding combos I've had the privilege to play though! The condition is very almost passable as new with only one tiny little mark of the Tolex covering. It has solid castors so its easy to move round and will come with the original footswitch, book of words and cover. These used to retail at over £2500 so I feel that £850 for this monster combo is a fair price! The combo is owned by my guitarist, however can be made available to collect either in Romford or from me directly in Basildon. A meet up circa 50 miles from either of those locations is doable to for a bit of petrol money. Any questions, let me know! Russ.
  15. Great price for a pair of Mesa Cabs! If @longtimefred doesn't take them then I just might!
  16. Both the ones I had I used in a rock three piece, in fact I think I used it on one or two songs on our album. I play a lot of tap style too and they worked beautifully.
  17. Hi, Looking to move on this M-Audio KeyStudio 49 Key Midi Keyboard, everything works as it should, a few minor scratches. I think these were around £90 odd when new so asking £35 posted to your door! Or £30 if you want to collect from Basildon, Essex. Would make a good cheap Xmas present! Russ.
  18. You cheeky beast... this is exactly my favourite combination of MM: 5 string, teal, black plate, maple neck, HS pickups...
  19. I've had 2 of these in the past and absolutely love them! Only got rid of one due to car issues, and the other due to a rare opportunity to buy back a much missed bass! I will have another at some point... One of the, if not THE, best stock 6er you can buy.
  20. That is a rare beast on the second hand market... Are you open to trades?
