  1. And now the clean, set up and re-strung result... Love these basses...
  2. Currently on route back from London with my new prize... a very nice Yamaha TRB6P in turquoise blue. It is in desperate need of a thorough set up, clean and new strings and has a nasty but very stable crack between the pots, but it was nothing short of a steal. Looking forward to spending the afternoon giving it some well needed TLC. This is how it looks now... not terrible, will hopefully look better later today!
  3. Great buy at £50. I'd have it if you were local! Perfectly good bass amps these.
  4. Or a hacksaw and glue. That's how headless bass work right? Just glue the strings down?
  5. Fantastic looking bass! Though why someone would put 8 holes in such a beautiful top wood for the sake of a clear plastic scratch plate is beyond me! Still... a truly stunning bass!
  6. Afternoon, After again another year of chopping and changing gear, I am now settled on (for now!) this rig! It's a PJB 12B with a 6T on top (18 speakers in total!!) being run by a Markbass Multiamp Mono with midi pedal board. The cabs are 1200w combined, the head runs at 600w at 4 ohms so the amp can be run at the maximum without fear of speaker damage. The whole rig sounds about as good as any rig I've ever played, and yes this is HUGELY subjective, but for me, this rig is perfect. I play 6+ string basses and do a fair amount of tap so the high fidelity of this rig and the crisp, clean punchiness it provides is almost tailor made for me. Couple that with the Markbass Multiamp and pedal board, you have a vast array of effects and tonal possibilities at your finger/toe-tips. For practice, the mono and the 6T are perfect, for loudness and projection, the 12B and the mono do the trick, and for ear-bleeding, house-shattering volume, all three together! All in, very happy with this set up. It's flexible and sounds horrendously good!
  7. These will be on eBay from 7pm tonight for 1 week.
  8. I had a TB Raxx 12 or so years ago, great bits of kits!
  9. The morale of most of these stories is 'Don't Wait!' I have a tendency of impulsive buying... if the bass doesn't pan out then you can always sell it on. I have a short list of basses I wish I never sold, but on the flip side, had I not sold them I wouldn't have the basses I now have which I will not sell! My main regrets are selling these ones: Jean Baudin's PacMan 9 string Conklin The Nordstrand NX6 A lovely Spector US NS6XL
  10. Hi all, I'm not 100% sure I want to sell this, so this is a bit of a feeler as it's a rather unique bass. This is a custom made Lakestone bass by UK luthier Tony Wright. This was originally made for the late Ian Holden, session player for the BBC orchestra and Dexie's Midnight Runners among others. The bass is in excellent condition and is of the highest build quality, it isn't light but it sounds superb! The full spec is as below, this came directly from Lakestone guitars: 1. The through neck is a rock maple and purple heart laminate. 2. Birdseye maple wings. 3. Two truss rods and reinforced with 3 carbon fibre rods for stability. 4. Gabon ebony fingerboard. 5. Headstock veneer is maccaser ebony. 6. Machine heads are Gotoh. 7. Pickups are from Kent Armstrong, actually wound by Aaron Armstrong for Overwater guitars. Lakestone had to get permission from Overwater to use them. 8. E.Q. is a 3 band Seymore Duncan. Coil tapped pickups. 9. The bridge was machined from solid brass and it was gold plated in the jewellery quarter in Birmingham. 10. The scale length is 36 inches. 11. Body core is mahogany. 12. Abalone inlay work on the headstock and truss cover. 13. Weight is 6.3kg (exactly 1 stone). 14. Spacing at the bridge is 18.5mm 15. Spacing at the nut is 8.5mm I'm based in Basildon, Essex and viewing is welcome. It could do with a new set of strings, I would have re-strung it myself but I dont have any strings suitable for a 36" bass. Any questions, please ask! Russ.
  11. That was mine! I've hunted long and hard for it since, it seems to have gone deep underground. I traded it for a 9 string ACG that I still have. Would absolutely love it back...
  12. Hi all, I've only recently bought this absolutely fantastic acoustic as I've wanted one for years! But some cabs have come up for sale here that I simply must have! So alas, this must go. This is a Godin A6 from the early 2000 era, for a near 20 year old guitar it is in fantastic condition with only one little zing on the top of the body, other than that it's pretty spot on! The action is super low, I play tap style so its spot on for me, I've strung it with very light Martin strings too to get the action close to 1.5mm at the 12th fret. The controls are volume, bass, mid, treble. It has an active invisible pickup with a fresh battery too. I don't really have any packaging for postage but if you REALLY want it posted I will wrap it in a annoyingly large amount of bubble wrap, I can also remove the neck for extra safety. Any questions, please ask! Russ.
  13. New photos added and a price drop to £310! Need this gone. I have another two PJB 47 Cabs up for sale too, if anyone wants all three then we can talk! Only selling these as I've not bought a PJB 12B and 6T cab. Russ.
  14. Hi all, I very recently bought two of these absolutely mint cabs from a fellow BassChatter, however another BassChatter has just listed the cabs I've been after for a while, so these must go to fund those as I've now committed to buying them! I'm selling two of these cabs, I'm offering them out at £225 each collected, or £245 each posted. If you want both of them, then I'll do the pair for £440 collected or £480 posted. These cabs came from Bass Direct less than 2 months ago and are still listed at £375 a piece on their website. My price is 40% off the new price and these are seriously in mint condition, fully boxed with all paper work and covers etc. Collection is preferred (from Basildon, Essex) but as they are both boxed, I'm happy enough to post. Any questions, please ask! Russ.
  15. The temptation!!!! Used to love mine when I had one nearly 15 years ago!
  16. Bought an assorted bag of strings from Mr HellZero for pretty much the cost of postage! Another smooth and easy purchase, never any issues with Tony! Though I fear our long run of faultless trades/purchases may have a door slammed in its face soon due to the filth they call Brexit... We shall have to turn to smuggling!
