1.
Aha a new word in my vocabulary- Fauxdera https://m.dhgate.com/product/fodera-yin-yang-tai-chi-standard-design-four/388471493.html#s1-3-1;srp%7C1694976405
Surely you mean 'fauxcabulary'?
2. I have a 7 string fretless warrior... Excellent beasts these!
3. Perhaps we should have a competition, everyone send their basses to each other and the one that arrives undamaged with the least packaging wins. Might just blu-tack a single tissue to the strings and send it on its way...
4. Hi guys, I sold these over a month ago on eBay and the buyer has not contacted me or responded to any messages so I therefore offer these out free to anyone who collects. One has a broken latch but the other is fine. They are both worn but solid, I am sure they are useful to someone. Very heavy duty. Please note you must collect both and not just one as I want them gone! Collection from Wickford in Essex. Russ.
5. Handbags it is... I'm going with my Radley, what's your weapon?
6. In your opinion what addition protection does a thin layer of cardboard have? 10/15 layers of thick bubble wrap will protect a guitar from a fairly high drop as well as impacts because it absorbs the shock, if someone hit you with a baseball bat would you rather have a pillow over your head or 2-3mm of card board? It's all about absorbing shock sir, and a good amount of proper packing bubble wrap will trump card board any day of the week! Don't make me go all Mythbusters on you!
7. Bough an Aries Senes 6 string from Al, can't fault him at all. Great communication, excellent packing, really smooth transaction. The bass is awesome, really happy with it! If you're dealing with Al, rest assured you'll get a smooth and easy deal. Russ.
8. To be honest I frequently sell guitars via eBay, mostly without hard cases (usually guitars below a £300 or so value) and my standard packaging techniques is using a 1.5m x 100m roll of heavey bubble wrap which does around 10 guitars, they are firmly wrapped and then wrapped again in black plastic. Ironically the only guitar I sent that arrived damaged in recent history was sent in a hard case. If a guitar is fully wrapped correctly is layers of bubble wrap it is much more resistant to shock that in a hard case. The hard case protects it more again heavy compression like being stepped on etc. From my experiance bubble wrap when used right is absolutely fine.
9.
The marvellous thing about the exquisitely bejewelled Mr Jerry Dross is that once you've passed his 10 page test and applied to become a client he will graciously schedule a preliminary meeting at his workshop on payment of a fee of 100 Euro* (click add to cart button / * Refunded if order placed within 12 mths). Bargain! £85 for an audience with His Majesty to discuss what you'd like and how much he'll charge you. .
Good god... I thought you were joking, he actually does want €100 for you to tell him what you want at his 'castle'. No wonder there is no price list. Might go to the next MusicMass so I can punch him in the balls and ask for €100 for the privilege.
10. Happy to entertain reasonable offers... just bought another bass and need to sell this one!
11. The website does scream pretentious... It's such a shame as the basses are great, but I can't get past a bad attitude of a builder. I mean Fred Bolton of Bee Basses, Bill Conklin, Alan of ACG, Sanders De Gier, Chris of Overwater, Jens Ritter and even Hans P. Wilfer of Warwick, all of these guys are spot on, they talk to you, they discuss with you and guide the project and are generally top blokes from my experience in talking with them through email etc. I don't understand the arse-ish attitude of certain builders... It goes without saying that Jerzy will not ever have my business, it's also soiled the bass I do have somewhat! Anyone for a soiled Jerzy Drozd 7 string?!
12. So I got in contact with Jerzy Drozd a few weeks ago to enquire about the cost of a build and to know what the original cost of a pre-owned bass I bought was. I mentioned in my email that the website was very difficult to navigate and very difficult actually find out any useful information. (Take a look). It took well over 2 weeks to get a response, and the response I got was that I needed to fill in a 10 page (10 page!!!) questionnaire just for them to let me know a ball park cost for a build... some of the sections actually requires you to write an essay, and I am not exaggerating. I emailed back to say this was a bit ridiculous and that I didn't want to fill out a 10 page questionnaire just to get an idea of cost from a builder, I had already provide a rough spec and all I wanted was a rough price. I was then emailed back to say that Jerzy Drozd 'choose their clients' and that he hadn't responded to me for over 2 weeks because he didn't like the fact I mentioned the website being difficult to navigate, there was a further back and forth which was full of arrogance, his attitude was so superior as if he was the single greatest master of bass on the planet, the website actually reflects this pretty well, referring to himself as "the master". I'd like to know if anyone else has contacted Jerzy and received the same level of arrogance and rudeness from him? Russ.
13. Looks like 17mm... I could be wrong though!
14. Hughes, we have very similar taste in basses!
15.
Legend
Now I've done you that favour, give me money to buy this bass... It's only fair!
16. If you want to stick to just playing 'bass' then you almost have a point, but playing mainly 7 and 8 string bass suits me perfectly as I play in a 3 piece so I can tackle lead if need be and provide a higher register if our guitarist whips out his B (he plays a 7 string guitar). More flexibility, more options, more noise. Basically sir, to each his own.
17.
The Chuckle Brothers are now working for British Gas... To meter you
I'd be tempted to buy it just to stop the jokes! Some kind of evil new sales strategy?
