  1. Jaco seems to always be the bench mark for a good bassist... don't get me wrong, he's a fantastic musician, but there are many MANY players without the fame and notoriety that Jaco has that create unbelievable sound scapes from 6+ string basses that Jaco simply would not be able to replicate. I think in order to judge (not that judging is occurring here) the ERB community you must first listen to what can be accomplished with additional strings. We've evolved past 4 strings... deal with it!
  2. This beast is now mine... Sounds outstanding. Basically... it's SOLD!
  3. I'm down with that, I'm sure I can spare a few quid to help bring back someones Christmas. Russ.
  4. I play mainly 6 string, I have a few fours and fives, I have a few 7's too, even a 10 and a 13 string bass. I personally find 6 the most useful, though I often find myself gravitating towards the 7 string for the additional highs, it's great to swap roles with the guitarist in a band while still playing a bass. $ strings is all well and good, but I need more, and 6s and 7s provide that. Useing various effect, reverbs and delays etc. you can produce some fantastic soundscapes. I deffinitely suggest people should at least try a 6 string, they reall open up the possibilites.
  5. I guess you mean a 37 year old bass! not a 27 year old bass...
  6. What a piece of sh*t. Seriously. The .317 or whatever it isstring iisn't even over the fretboard! Burn it.
  7. This used to be mine! And I believe that bottom picture is in my old house! Great bass, looks awesome, plays awesome.
  8. Pictures increase the likelihood of a sale by at least 50%. We are a fickle bunch here and we like to muse over pictures before considering a purchase, there are so many great basses for sale here that those without pictures get passed over very quickly! Also, it's only common decency to show us all a little bass porn!
  9. I think you added an S at the end of 'miles', you are indeed a single mile from me! I'm up by the Downham Arms. If you're game for a little tester session I have an array of interesting beasts for you to have a play with while I sample the Dingwall? Let me know man!
  10. Where abouts in Essex are you man? I'm in Wickford... Always been curious about Dingwalls! I doubt I can afford auch a beast, but if you have a spare few minutes I'd love to give it a blast!
  11. I managed to snag that prototype bass, will be collecting itin a few weeks once my 13 string is done. I've had my ups and downs with Jon, but everything is on track now and after having received a 5 string passive bass with the perspex pickup I can say that quality is not an issue, the bass is excellent. Now that communication is regular between us, I have no further issues with Jon. He does build some cracking basses...
  12. Hi, There's some used strings, some jack cables that need ends, a mic clip, some multi 9v plug ends, a strap thing (i think) a bridge, a plug thing and what ever else is in the picutre. All yours for FREE!! But you ust take all of it! Postage on this lot will be about £7, so if you're cool paypal-ing over £7 for postage, all this can be yours! I won't split it, it's an all or nothing deal. Lemm know! Russ. 07912222127. [attachment=169404:20140817_173255.jpg]
  13. Hi mate, I messaged you a few days ago... no reply yet!
  14. Excellent guy to deal with, great contact, fast and easy transaction. Even when I thought there was an issue, he phoned up straight away to discuss, fortunately there was no issue, twas just a case of a dodgy cable! would definitely recommend and deal with again. top marks sir! Russ
  15. I did not ask for favourable treatment, I did not know he had any affiliation to basschat until he mentioned it in those texts. And as far as I can tell eBay do not stipulated that the use of the cancellation tool is exclusively for lost or broken items. I believe my stated reason from their drop down list was 'item is no longer available for sale'. The buyer could of not accept the request, but he did, so why is that not the end of this? If he had issues then they should have been discussed with me and/or ebay. Which they were, and I have shown on here. I did not pressure him to accept the cancellation. If he fought the case and I still refused I would accept this level of negativity towards me, but as it was amicably resolved and he was happy to end it I just don't see the huge issue.
  16. Ambient you are massively right. and warwickhunt, I get the impression you want to just wind me up. Saying 'wow, you actually believe that...' it is fact my friend, absolutely provable fact. If you chose no matter what to think otheriwse I can't change your mind, but your obsession on proving me to be the devil is a little odd. Everything in my above message is provable, so yes, wow... I obviously believe it. I trust your enjoying this crusade of yours? Maybe you should tell us what terrible things you have done in your life and we'll all pass judgement on that. Bet you've done something at some pont that trumps sending an auction cancellation request to someone, and them accepting it.
  17. There is no moral obligation and I haven't broken any ebay rules, I sent a 'cancel sale' request via ebay (why would they give you this option if it was against their rules??) And it was accepted, I spoke to fiatcoupe (as per texts shown on my previous post) and he was fine with it. So I repeat, what is the problem??? I acted in line with ebay rules, I have been totally honest, the buyer accepted, we talked and were friendly, so please tell me what the deal is here?? Honestly, how have I broken rules? Everything has been done in line with rules and regulations. And more to the point the conversations I have shown on here between me and fiat have been friendly and amicable. So once more, what have I done wrong? The only person here who seems to actually understand these points is Ambient, and he left his posts before I even knew this thread existed!!! So please, tell me how I have broken rules or acted morally wrong when I have actes by the book written by ebay. If the seller agrees to a cancellation then that's the end of that surely? No broke rules or morality.
