Give everything to me, I'll 'store' it for you for free, you can have visitation rights once a decade. Totally fair...

Absolutely second those sentiments... DONT get Jon to build you a bass... get your money back. He is not a skilled luthier. The bass he made for me was unplayable. The intonation was WAY off and because he built it with a fix, wholly unadjustable Bridge, (not what I ordered) there was no way to remedy the intonation and it had to go back to him and when he sent it back (uninsured to save himself a few quid) it was damage in transit due to the poor way he'd packaged it. DO NOT GET JON TO BUILD YOU A BASS. Get you money back and put a deposit down on a trusted, skilled luthier such as ACG, Shuker, Overwater, Zoot etc.

I'd bet a decent chuck of money that it's just another way for him to long out the situation. I'd be going back to court to obtain permission for bailiffs to seize assets. If you take away his tools, no one else can become a victim to his scams.

Interesting that you took that away from the 9 pages of that thread...

My 2 Cents have been added to the TB thread...

I've had the misfortune of owning a few of his basses, they are trash. The 7 string I ordered from him years ago had a fixed bridge with filed saddles that couldn't be moved and it was positioned in such a way that the intonation was way WAY off and couldn't be adjusted therefore was uselessas an instrument. The build quality was quite poor too. The price is there for a reason. Literally any bass you could buy brand new at that same price point will be better. Don't waste your time and money dealing with him, you will get burned.

No! There are no jokes! YOU'RE a joke... (What's a joke?) But... those basses DO exist and ARE terrible. So there... 😝

These are absolute trash. Chinese built to the cheapest and lowest possible standards, not a viable instrument at all not because of the string count but because of the awfulness of the build! Take the string off and the frets out and you've got a half decent ironing board. And this is coming from a massive advocate of ERBs! Now... if we could please take a moment to cleanse our eyes by looking at some good ERBs!

@EddieG - Letts has 4 or 5 basses for sale on Reverb. You could instruct the bailiffs to seize them to be sold at auction, they might collectively make enough money to pay you back. Jon would also be far better off just paying you your money if the choice given to him was to have all the basses seized and sold or to pay you want he owes you.

Given it a good, thorough inspection... ● No dings or marks anywhere ● Overall look and feel exceeds price paid ● GuitarGuitar definitely set it up ● Low action ● Nice neck ● Fret edges are sharp and need filing ● Crap strings (that was always going to be the case) Not plugged it in yet, but except needing to change the strings, and assuming it all 'works' when plugged in, for £99 it's a bit of a steel.

Both myself and my guitarist have pulled the trigger (mostly out of curiosity) on a pink coral EastCoast super strat and a Cream EastCoast Tele. Both with Roasted Maple necks, both quite reasonable spec, both £99 new delivered... Can these be even half decent?? The reviews suggest so. I'm not 100% convinced, but for £99 we thought we'd take a punt. Will report back when delivered and tested. Could be the steal of the century or a waste of time and money! https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/211119377178025--eastcoast-st2-deluxe-hss-roasted-maple-neck-coral-pink?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA8NKtBhBtEiwAq5aX2ERs8fl25B9vQa-RxTkprRaOC_XDZUWhaJCK6eDvJWheC8VHDusEQhoCv34QAvD_BwE

Epifani UL3 210 speaker cab - reduced to £300 - *SOLD*

I spoke to Dave Green a few weeks back about a new cloth grill for a second hand cab I'd bought with a slightly rusty metal grill. He offered to make one up if I came down with the cab, real good guy to talk too as well. I didn't actually take him up as I've now sold the cab, but still, a great bit of service! Not sure how their US reps are, but it sounds like that's where some of the trouble lies.

Near Kingsbridge? Go and steal this
binky_bass replied to TheGreek's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Terrible photos plus the description says 'it's been repaired' with zero detail of what that actually means. Personally, I'd swerve it.- 6 replies

Recently picked up an Epifini UL901 and Bergantino 410 from @Mama Huhu. It has passed the rigorous approval process of my son. Looking forward to giving it a proper go at band practice tonight!

Met up with Dave today in a shady pub car park (where all the best deals are done!). He was kind enough to drive some distance to meet me on my journey home from Wales to Essex, he was there dead on time, we did the deal, had a quick chat (would have been longer but I needed to get back to Essex!), and away we went! Would be very happy to deal with Dave again, great guy and a credit to basschat! Can't wait to give the Epifini UL901 and the Bergantino 410 a proper go tomorrow! Cheers, Russ.

14 years later... 😄 Just concluded a deal with @Jase that saw him take on my Ashdown CTM300 and 410 ABM Cab. A great guy to deal with! Trustworthy, great communication, arrived at agreed location exactly when he said, all in a smooth and easy transaction. Top bloke. Would definitely be happy to deal with again! Enjoy the CTM300 man! Russ.

What to buy a bass player for his 18th
binky_bass replied to GrimUpNorth's topic in General Discussion
@GrimUpNorth - If you're still thinking about strap locks, I'd highly recommend Dunlop Dual Design strap locks. These ones: https://www.gak.co.uk/en/dunlop-sls1031n-straplocks/111288?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAwP6sBhDAARIsAPfK_wZ5FiI2ZbspKPuCz02fksv5L8vijUokAqnhEHf2x8i8wKbOfJRlD-4aAjn5EALw_wcB You can get them in black, silver or gold to match the hardware on his bass. I have them fitted to every strap I own and every instrument I own so I can use any strap with any instrument. To me, these are better and more secure than Schaller strap locks, but that is just my opinion! Schallers are perfectly fine too! -
Mysterious Mesa amp(s) problem, I'd appreciate some help
binky_bass replied to Beedster's topic in Amps and Cabs
@Beedster - sorry, no spare valves here unfortunately! Short of taking one out of the Big Block and chucking it in the M-Pulse. Though I'll be absolutely honest and say A: Taking the BB out of the Mesa case is an absolute pain and B: At this stage, my personal preference is to do a hand-back at a time convenient. -
Mysterious Mesa amp(s) problem, I'd appreciate some help
binky_bass replied to Beedster's topic in Amps and Cabs
Probably! I have genuinely tried everything I could think of... even to the point of removing all other amps from the environment. Removing all cables and leads from the area (just in case the plethora of wires/cables and speakers somehow was generating some kind of interference) with no change. I've chased these rabbits down holes before over the years and most of the time find the problem, but as it stands, the resolution evades me! -
Mysterious Mesa amp(s) problem, I'd appreciate some help
binky_bass replied to Beedster's topic in Amps and Cabs
Either which way, it's a massive testament to the community on Basschat to be able to comfortably and openly discuss such things between the seller, the buyer and others with knowledge to share to help resolve these things! 😁 -
Mysterious Mesa amp(s) problem, I'd appreciate some help
binky_bass replied to Beedster's topic in Amps and Cabs
No footswitch provided and the solo dial does nowt without it! All the same I have rolled it up and down just to be sure! Genuinely have played around with all settings etc. to no avail. It could very well be the valve I mentioned, not entirely sure of the impact a faulty valve would have on an M-Pulse. You can see below the silver cap on one is distinctively different to the other, potentially a failed pin seal?
