    These things do seem to be happening more and more with companies saving costs everywhere which inevitably means tasking workers with more targets or lowering wages, both lead to mishandling of parcels. I had DPD somehow managed to send a Mesa 410 cab that was destined for Glasgow to Ireland, and a PJB 12X5 cab that was destined for Ireland to Glasgow, despite both being extremely well labelled! Parcelforce 24/48 has generally done me well over the years, I've probably sent 500 guitars/basses this way with only 1 or 2 issues. I tend to send them in a hard case covered in black plastic with the handle exposed and not in a cardboard box, this way the courier can hold the handle with one hand instead of trying to do the same with a giant cardboard box and dropping in 10 times in the process. Sometimes less packing, so long as a carry handle is exposed, is the better option. Not that this was a factor in your case!

    And... if anyone wants FOUR guitars, you can have this Washburn Woodline O12SE for £100 on top. The bridge is lifting hence only asking £100 for a £400 guitar, however the rest of it is mint and it still has low and stable action with strings at full tension. I have it as my 'lounge' acoustic.

    Hi all, We've foolishly committed to a rather extensive bout of house works, so some things need to get gone! Here we have 3 lovely guitars (and a set of Gyker locking tuners!) they are: ● Ibanez GRG120QASP ● Jackson JS22 ● Jackson JS11 All are in very good/excellent condition. Minimal wear save a few light scratches. I'd quite like to get rid of them as a job lot, so I'm offering the whole caboodle up for £400. With the tuners included, you'd be spending north of £700 for this lot, so £400 for everything seems fair! Collection from Wickford, Essex is much preferred, but I can post them (individually) as I do have 3 guitar shipping boxes I can post them in. Any questions/extra photos, please ask.

    More or less of a faff than deleting the entire thread and recreating it with the correct picture loaded first? I have absolutely no coding knowledge, but I would have thought that this locked process of the first picture you upload being the thumbnail with zero ability to amend would be a process that could be changed to allow for a seller to pick the thumbnail they want to display?

    Even with having removed that picture, it still remained... Is this then a question of closing down the ad and starting all over again to then upload the one you want displayed as a thumbnail first? Is there no ability that could be built in to allow for a user to change the thumbnail? Or does a mod have the to do it?

    Hi, I've got an amp in the for sale section, typically the least useful picture is showing as the thumbnail and not matter what I do to change it, it won't change! Anyone know how to actually change thumbnails to one that you actually want to display? Russ.

    Hi all, So, the time has come to potentially move on this British built monster... This is a bit of a tentative sale as I need to raise a few quid for some house works we want to crack on with. Most of us are familiar with these amps, the classic and somewhat revered Marshall VBA400. This beast has 8 6550 Power Valves, 3 ECC83 Valves and 1 ECC82 Valve. So two more power valves than the Ashdown CTM300, and the same number and the Mesa Strategy 8:88 - though the latter has KT88 valve, but you get the comparison! I've owned this for a few years now, used it only in my rehearsal space at home and it hasn't missed a beat. Being honest, I don't know how old the current valves are, but the amp show no tell-tell signs of valve fatigue. You're of course very welcome to come give it a go to satisfy any concerns you might have. The cabs are fairly rare beasts, made in 1987 (my YOB!), both have plenty of signs of wear, but both work great! When I bought them, the 4 carry handles were brittle and were turning to dust, so Marshall kindly sent me out 4 replacements a little while ago which make them now 100% safe to carry vs the old crumbling ones! Together, the VBA400 and these two Jubilee cabs sound incredible... I had a Mesa 8:88 head with two Mesa 410 Power House cabs a few years back, and this rig sounds every bit as good. There is genuinely something special about the VBA400 - there's some magic in those amps! £1250 is the price, I'm fairly firm on that as I do believe it is a very fair price. Happy to include the required cables to power it and connect the cabs. Viewing is welcome, I'm in Wickford, Essex. I am travelling around the country a fair bit over the coming weeks, so I might be able to meet of an evening at my various overnight stops. Any questions, let me know. Thanks, Russ.

    My opinion (not that anyone asked!) is that yes, your reaction is a little 'over' so to speak. You don't know what's happening with him (or do you?), so you cant gauge what he's feeling/dealing with. In these scenarios we must take the cautious road and assume something quite difficult is being experienced at his end. The fact you've told him that "this needs sorting before MY holiday" (paraphrased) won't have done him any good. I expect he read that and MAY have thought "I'm in this terrible place and this guy is just worried about his holiday". I understand your position, one of partial frustration and the genuine want/need to have a good solid, unburdened, holiday reset. But, as we're unclear to this chaps position, I'd lean towards caution and suggest his situation might not be best helped by you 'needing' answers now. Give him time, enjoy your holiday. Perhaps, if you're so inclined, send him a simple message saying something like "I genuinely hope all is well mate, as you know I'm off on holiday now, let's catch up in a week or two, speak soon and keep safe". That way he and you have no pressure to deal with until you're back, might give him time to process his situation and work out a way to discuss it with the band. Just my two cents. I hope he's well and you genuinely have a fantastic holiday!

    Maybe he KNEW it was terrible (perhaps on purpose?) and he's just testing the strength of your friendship... To pass the test you must be straight with him as he knows it was purposefully bad, or risk failing by saying nothing at all, or worse... lying! Or... it's not a test... who knows? Honesty is usually/always the best policy (assuming he has directly asked for your opinion), but tact must be deployed in the correct proportion relevant to the level of your friendship.

    The LACS I ended up with has a mere 11mm (ish) spacing. For babies maybe?? 🤔 Horror I know! This is Sam Totman's (from Dragonforce) LACS Iceman... Well, it's mine now. 👍

    Couldn't look further from the bass on that link! This bass doesnt really have a scroll headstock, its more a 'folded over headstock. I'm sure I've seen it before somewhere... A google image search didn't find anything similar either. Would be interested to know what this is if anyone does identify it!

    It's entirely off. Looks to be a rosewood bridge, the top wood of the guitar is mahogany of that helps!

    Evening all, I have an acoustic guitar that's worth saving but the bridge needs re-gluing. Does anyone know what glue/tools I'd need to do this properly? Hide glue seems to be the typical choice, and I assume some clamps with a suitable throat depth too... If anyone knows how to do this and the specific materials/tools needed (bear in mind I do need to operate on a budget to make this guitar worth saving!) I'd really appreciate some links to places where I can buy the right glue, clamps etc. to do this myself. Thanks! Russ.

    I think 200 fretted and 150 fretless were made. Could be wrong! Could foresight to remove the scratch plate early on as I've seen some that had the plate removed after a few years and you can clearly see the outline from sun bleaching. This looks very clean. 👍

    I think we may need to have a few rounds of bare knuckle boxing (over arm style of course) to resolve this, given that I do also play 7, 8, 9 and 10 string basses which I expect would classify as "one of those silly things with so many strings that you can't pass cant pass as a bass player". In my band I play a lot of two hand tap, which is close to impossible on a 4 string bass. With some songs its much easier to play the piece on an 8 string. If you play standard songs that only require a 4 string bass, then I can partially see your point, but I play and write songs that can't be played on a 4 string as they simply don't have the range. Having somewhere between 6-10 strings available is great fun and opens up the bass way beyond that of its 4 string brothers. It becomes a true instrument for composition and exploration. If ever you're in Essex, swing by and have a go on Binky the 10 string bass, most people hold it for the first time and think its utterly ridiculous (which it is a bit!) but after 10 minutes or so, they understand why it exists and how much it opens up bass as an instrument.
