I'm 35, so not the youngest or the oldest by any stretch, and have one established band and am just in the process of setting up a second band - both originals music. Have a look at www.joinmyband.co.uk there's a good few people out there looking for other musicians to make music with. It sounds like you might have had a few consecutive bad experiences, to me that just means you're overdue a good one! I say give it one last go, find some musicians local to you and try one last time to get something going - if that fails, then I'll buy your gear! 😂

The name I really liked (which is an episode title from Star Trek Voyager) is 'Course: Oblivion'. Reckon that'd make a good band name!
-
@mar_to_the_t - where do you live? I'd like to come and steal everything you own please!
-
Ha, my last name is Newton - but I'm not dead... yet...
-
Yeah, I do get that and it is a consideration for sure. It's a balance between what's used and what isn't and what adds to the vibe of the band. We might not settle of TerrorPyn but I like it as a temporary name at the least!

Like a strike of lightning, it has come to me! Along with a quickly smashed together first album cover! 😂

Any band where its 'someone's' band isn't a band for me! My main project (Art Of Rebellion) is a totally collaborative effort, as is this new project. Making unilateral decisions in a band (to me) is a recipe for disfunction.

Hi all, I've started a new project and we've been racking our brains for the last week or so as to a decent band name. Soooooooo many of the names we've thought of (some pretty obscure!) seem to all have been taken. How did you pick your band name? Did it just 'come' to you or did you have to properly think about it? Any suggestions are also welcome! We're going for an 80s - 90s old skool metal vibe (not covers). Ta!

You could probably talk to Alan at ACG and have something custom made for not too much more than your budget. They are about the best, most versatile basses money can buy.

Sold a Fusion gig again to Three, super easy transaction, paid promptly, no problems at all! Another credit to our fine BC community!

I had always thought that... The 'rules' for this section do clearly say that Basschat has no affiliation to eBay, so why isn't Gumtree/Reverb etc OK? -
Hi all, So I just bought these from @johnbiffa last week for the very fair sum of £30 (postage kindly included). THEN... immediately after having purchased, my guitarist gave me 3 of his that he hasn't used in years, so now I have 3 more than I need! So, I'm turning these loose again to anyone that wants them. £30 posted. Cheers, Russ.

Genuinely agree... while I'm sure it's technically tricky to play, there no real melody or hook or anything actually interesting to listen to. Jaco has always been a bit overrated in my eyes.
-
This, without a doubt! Flea isn't a terrible bassist, but his version of the 'national anthem' is a disgrace!
-
John kindly responded to my wanted add for some Hercules wall hangers - they were sent out promptly and arrived in great condition. Another credit to basschat! Would definitely deal with again.
-
Certainly nothing wrong with casing the beasts up. While I definitely don't play all of mine daily or even weekly, I do enjoy the aesthetics of having them neatly presented on the wall - almost like an art installation. I get the most enjoyment from playing them of course, but I do definitely also enjoy being able to see them every day even if I don't play them!
-
I would do that but I don't have 21 corners in my room!

Hi, I keep getting this error message: If I refresh a few times, I can access the page, but it's happening on all pages. Is there a background update happening? Russ.

Agreed, the wall plugs they come with are crap. They 'just about' do for solid walls, but I never chance them. The plugs I use are self tapping steel plasterboard plugs and they work an absolute treat. These guys:

Excellent tessellation sir! Top marks.

I've been on a bit of a hanging mission today... Anyone else a keen user of wall hangers? I've used them for years with no ill effects! I think it generally keeps them safer and I've never (yet!) had anything fall off despite all of the ones in the photos being hung of plasterboard walls (using special wall-plugs). We have a 'Basses on the Settee' thread, but I'd like to see how hung people are!

ACG use them as stock strings on their basses - says a lot! They are very good quality and fairly priced too. Neil also will make a totally custom set for you, even if it is for a 10 string bass! (Yet to order but he said he could do it).
